Bug Fixes: - Crates/Cargo no longer reset the scrollbar to the top after depositing - Newly spawned enemies will no longer float (worst bug in the game as of now)
QoL: - Night time lasts much less than day time
A larger Content/QoL update is planned for later this week!
Less Rage Update - 1.1.1
Welcome to the Less Rage Update!
Craterbound has definitely had a bit of a rocky start, with many of our players understandably not knowing how to start the game, find bosses, defeat the tanks, etc. Craterbound's first major update serves to fix these issues and to rebalance early game combat.
Tank Changes
Tanks have been the bane of many player's existence, including myself. Thankfully, they have been changed for the better:
Tanks can now be killed without crafting expensive EMPs
Tanks can be killed by attacking them several times with your stun pistol, the amount of times is dependent on game difficulty (2/4/5)
To balance this, tanks are now stunned for less time, dependent on the game difficulty (1.25/1.0/0.75)
Tank random resource amount range has been increased.
Quality of Life Fixes
Bosses can be found on the tablet's map through the skull icons
Fabricators now have item descriptions so that you know what you're fabricating
Multitool laser now lines up with crosshair
Added loading screen
Enemies repopulate faster, giving less time where there are no enemies around
Added FOV and Invert Mouse settings
Copper asteroid fragments now spawn closer to impact and give more resources
Bug-fixes
Fixed players on slow computers falling through the map
Fixed bug where players' sensitivities would default to zero
Rocks/Enemies should no longer spawn on bases or trees
Rocks no longer float mid-air
Enemies will no longer spawn on unwalkable slopes
Compass direction now lines up with tablet map
In summary, I hope this update provides many of the changes to Craterbound you all were hoping to see, and allows many of you to have a more fun and enjoyable gameplay experience. Make sure to stay tuned for what's coming next and let us know what changes you want to see added to the game! As always, if you ever need any help or have suggestions, please reach out through the Official Discord Server.
Update 1.1.0 - Tank Refactor and QoL
Welcome back Craternauts, I believe following this update many of you will find Craterbound much easier to play.
Tank Changes:
Tanks are now killable without EMPs. The player must shoot the tank until blue stun particles appear around the tank. Shooting/hitting the tank one more time after that will shatter it and allow it to be mined.
EMPs will immediately shatter Tanks, and are still overpowered in killing them.
Tanks are now stunned for much less time when stunned.
Quality of Life Changes:
Added loading screen
Fabricator now has item descriptions
Fixed players on slow computers sometimes falling through the world on map load
Compass direction now lines up with tablet map direction
Rocks should no longer float, or spawn on bases/trees
Enemies should no longer spawn on trees or on slopes which are too steep to walk on
Enemy spawn timer should be increased, less long waits for repopulation
Fixed sensitivity defaulting to zero
Added FOV setting
Made multitool line up with crosshair
And a few other changes...
1.0.1 Suggestions + QoL Patch
QoL Balance Updates: - Made laser tanks not spawn until players are capable of defending themselves with EMPs - Made laser tank chase radius much more reasonable - Made laser tanks stunnable for more times and for longer before resistance is gained
Options Updates: - Sensitivity Slider Option Added - Moved V-Sync and Colorblindness options to video options panel
Craterbound Late-Beta Testing
Craterbound is releasing June 15th, 2022!
After more than a year of development, Craterbound is almost ready for its release into Early Access next week! Following its release, multiple QoL and bug patches will be released each week in order to improve and expand Craterbound past its state in Early Access. This will continue for several months until Craterbound is stable and ready for its full release. I look forward to welcoming in all the future "Craternauts" and watching you all crash and burn on the planet below!
"But I don't want to wait a week!"
Never fear, Craterbound's official Discord Server is active and ready for more Beta Testers! To join the closed Beta test, simply join our Discord Server and request a Beta key in the #key-request channel. If you do decide to become a Beta Tester, keep the following in mind:
Report any bugs you see to the appropriate channel
Send any constructive feedback you can think of into the appropriate channel
The voice-lines are placeholders for the next several days, but will be replaced by the end of the weekend by proper voice acting
Most days there are several bug patches a day, so things can get messy while we are finishing up our testing period
"I'm cool with waiting a week!"
No worries, most people don't want to play a bleeding edge semi-unstable version of the game and download 10mb updates 2-3 times a day. In that case, just hold on for less than a week for a much more stable version of the game to release. Updates will be a lot less frequent and chaotic, and you can enjoy your typical gaming experience in peace. Regardless, make sure to still join Craterbound's official Discord Server to keep up to date on all the fun.
