Patch 5.2 Now Live

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback on the latest update we have added a few more improvements to the game.

Improvements

  • There is a new option in the settings menu to change the length of the bats to a height that feels comfortable for you
  • Changes to the bat physics should see the ball coming off the bat better than before - in particular edges, glances, deflections and shots behind square will now use the bowlers momentum more effectively
  • The diving fielder no longer has super human reflexes or arm reach
  • The new swing bowlers added in the latest update have been given their own hairstyles so you can easily tell who is bowling

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the ball could get stuck beneath the umpire - there is now a catch-all timeout which will progress the game to the next ball in any situation where a fielder is unable to reach the ball
  • Fixed a bug where the ball wouldn't disappear after being retired hurt

Patch 5.1 Now Live

This is a small patch aimed at fixing the issue a number of people were experiencing with the buttons for replay/pause not being detected.

  • Reworked the input detection system to native SteamVR rather than relying on the Unity abstraction. Please let us know if this fixes the replay/pause issue for you!
  • Fixed a bug where the concussion counter was not resetting in between batsmen when you got hit on the helmet.
  • Change to spin bowling: the max amount of turn generated is now affected by the bowling speed. This means that a quick and flat delivery will not turn as much as a slow tossed up delivery.
  • Minor tweaks to the bowler pitch maps in Test mode.

Hope everyone is enjoying the gripping contest over in England at the moment!

Update 5 Now Live

We're very excited to announce the new update is now available! Thanks so much to everyone who has left reviews and feedback with the stuff you'd like to see added to Cricket Club. We're pleased to have been able to pack a lot of your requests into this update :)

New Instant Replay Feature

Can't believe you missed that last delivery? You can now trigger an instant replay to watch what happened in slow motion. You can queue the replay anytime after you've played your shot by pressing the trackpad button. It will start playing as soon as the ball has been fielded.

Replay Controls

  • Menu Button - Exit replay early
  • Left/Right Trackpad - Manually step backwards / forwards through the replay

Using a Real Bat?
You can trigger a replay by waving your bat above your head after your shot

New Difficulty Mode

Cricket Club now has 3 difficulty settings: Club, County & Test. The existing Test mode has been rebranded as County level (with all high scores being ported across) and the new Test mode offers a much more challenging array of bowlers.

New Bowlers & Delivery Types

  • Swing Bowlers: E Chatfield the right arm swing bowler and G. Troup the left armer have been added into the attack at Test level.
  • Seam Bowling: J. Mantis the medium pacer will now seam the ball when playing at Test level.
  • Slow Balls: The quicks now have a genuine slow ball variation in Test level
  • Arm Balls: The spinners now have the ball that carries on straight added to their arsenal at Test level.
  • Flighted Deliveries: The spinners will now vary their speed and flight with more tossed up deliveries.

Did you nick that?

The fielders will now appeal for caught behinds and other close calls. Don't worry though, our eagle eyed umpires know just how to respond to over-zealous appeals!

Other Changes

  • The size of the fielders has been reduced by a small amount
  • The big screen at the Basin will now show the last delivery speed
  • Fielders will now hold onto some of those diving catches/saves
  • The square-leg umpire and the non-striker will now take cover if the ball is coming at them
  • You can now trigger the next delivery by pressing the trigger button as soon as the bowler is at their mark
  • The instruction booklet in the shed has been updated to reflect the new controls
  • Reduced the amount of bounce generated in the outfield
  • Minor tweaks to the way physics is applied to blocks and softer shots
  • Decreased volume on collisions in the shed

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where the game could freeze after the helmeted fielder took a catch
  • Fixed a bug where a duplicate fielder might appear after a catch/drop
  • Fixed a bug where the menu button was sometimes being ignored
  • The bowler will no longer start bowling if there is a UI in front of your eyes
  • Fixed a bug where being retired hurt would cause your innings to end on 9 wickets
  • The umpire will no longer call a wide off a ball that has bounced off the helmet
  • The stumps will now reset properly if you are bowled on the last ball of an over
  • Performance Improvement: Optimised resource loading
  • Performance Improvement: The wagon wheel is now only kept for the current batter

Update 4 Now Live

Our next update is here and this time it's a smaller release that's focussed on addressing a number of the niggles that you guys have raised so far! As always we are striving to make things as enjoyable as possible so we encourage you to provide feedback and let us know what you'd like to see in Cricket Club! If you're enjoying Cricket Club please also consider dropping us a review and help us get the game into the hands of more players!

Improved Batting Physics

Much more accurate collision detection between bat and ball and an improved hotspot marker should help with the strokeplay. We've also refined the advantages you get for middling the ball and updated the ball bounce physics.

New Scoreboard

We've replaced our ugly floating scoreboard with a slightly prettier floating scoreboard. The scoreboard will also show you a ball-by-ball report of the current over as well as your current highscore for the current match type so you've always got a target to aim for.

Bowling & Fielding

  • Most bowlers have had their pitch maps adjusted. The bowlers in club mode should be a little friendlier now.
  • Offside wides will now be correctly called by the umpire
  • Fielders will no longer catch you out off balls that have just about hit the turf
  • The fielding team should be slightly more intelligent about deciding which fielder goes for the ball
  • Added some more legspin friendly field settings

Bugs Squashed

  • Fixed a bug where sometimes no fielder would collect the ball (especially wide balls to the left-handed batsmen that spun past the keeper)
  • Fixed a bug where the ball would sometimes get stuck beneath a fielder and get run out to the boundary
  • Fixed a bug where hitting the ball 17 million miles into the air could bypass our boundary fences
  • Fixed a bug that allowed you to hit your wickets before the bowler bowled and then be unable to get out bowled on the following ball
  • Fixed a bug where the umpire would not return to his position after getting knocked by a fielder

Update 3 Now Live!

We're really excited to announce our latest update is here! We have focussed on as many of the things that you have been asking for as we were able to get to this update. Here are the patch notes. We hope you enjoy and please do let us know how you're getting on with Cricket Club!

Leaderboard Overhaul

  • There are now new leaderboards for both individual and team scores in each game mode across both Club and Test level
  • The leaderboards will now display in-game. They are shown at the end of the match and you can also view up-to-date boards at any time by pressing the menu button.
  • Posting of scores is now automatic (as long as you have entered a player name)
  • You can still manually post your score at the end of an innings if you haven't set your player name yet
  • You can now always see your own leaderboard rank even if you aren't in the top 10

Some New Faces Into The Bowling Attack!

Ok, technically they all have the same face, but we gave them different coloured hair so you can tell them apart!

Introducing:
R. Collinge - Left arm fast-medium. Bowls a full nagging line on the off stump. Patiently wait for some width outside off or dispatch him back over his head?
C. Grimmett - Right arm legspin. Drifts it in then rips it past the outside edge. Slog sweep anyone?

New Fielder Behaviours

  • Fielders will now leap and dive towards balls that are tantalisingly out-of-reach
  • The keeper no longer has super human reflexes when catching balls that have taken a large deflection off the bat
  • Improved the way fielders attack and orient themselves towards the ball
  • Fixed various bugs with the new moving fielders introduced last update - including removing their ability to summon inhuman bursts of speed!

Trophies Are Up For Grabs!

We're introducing the first of the trophies that you will be able to win to start decking out your shed.

Individual High Score Trophy

  • Bronze - 50+ Runs
  • Silver - 75+ Runs
  • Gold - 100+ Runs

Team High Score Trophy

  • Bronze - 100+ Runs
  • Silver - 200+ Runs
  • Gold - 300+ Runs

Settings & Controls

  • There is an updated settings menu where you'll be able to find new settings to tinker with
  • You can now adjust the height that the controller attaches to the bat handle to make it more comfortable for players of different heights. You'll find the option in the settings menu.
  • The trigger button no longer pauses the game. You can press the menu button to pause and view the leaderboards. The button is automatically blocked during delivery so you won't accidentally bump it while swinging!
  • An icon now appears above the bowlers head to show where you need to look to trigger the next ball. You can toggle this off in the settings menu.

Taking Centre

You can now rearrange the position and orientation of the pitch to suit your own room setup. You do this in the game by 'taking centre'. When you're out in the middle stand at the location in your room you would like to be the centre of the pitch, and look in the direction you would like the pitch to run in. Now touch the bat to the ground and hold down the trigger button until the icon appears. Your preferences are automatically saved so you only need to set this up once.

Along with the above we have continued to improve the physics simulation and squashed a number of bugs with this update.

See you on the leaderboards!

Leaderboards

Some of you may have noticed that we've been experiencing some problems with the leaderboards after the last update. We are currently working on the next update which will overhaul the leaderboards and better integrate them into the game. When the new update drops the leaderboards will be reset and then we promise to leave them alone! Until then sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for continuing to support our game :)

Cricket Club just got harder!

Finally we have a major update ready for Cricket Club.
Those amazing scores some of you were getting
(Rolf and Spiinge, that's you guys with over 1000 runs in 50 over mode)
will come to an end.
Fielders will now do what fielders should do, run to the boundary and take that stunning catch. Not to mention taking that easy one that you just lobbed up in close.
It's harder, but much more fun. Now you need to think about placement, split the field or drop it into the gap for 3.

Here's the full list of changes:
- Fielders will now run to intercept and catch the ball
- Runs are now scored based on the time it takes a fielder to reach the ball and the distance they would need to throw it back to the wicket
- The bowler will now return to the top of his runup when the next delivery can be triggered
- Added several new fielding poses
- Added several new fielding positions, including boundary fielders
- Field sets will obey the power play rules in limited overs games
- Improved mechanics around catching/dropping the ball
- Bowlers will now use the crease, sometimes delivering from wide of the crease to create different angles
- The spinner now extracts a little bit more bounce from the pitch and the quick bowlers have slight variations in bounce
- Club mode now supports easier versions of all 3 bowlers: quick, medium and offspin
- Club mode has an increased chance of catches being dropped
- Innings scorecard is now shown at the end of each over
- Improved the transitions between overs
- The batsmen will now be retired hurt after getting hit in the helmet 3 times

And although the high-scores will be wiped, there's a new honours board in the shed remembering all your legendary batting feats.

And to try and get a few more people on board we have actually dropped
the price a bit too.

Thanks everybody for playing and we would love to know how you enjoy the update.

Patch to Update 1 Live

We've just fixed a minor issue introduced with update 1 that was causing some sixes not to be registered.
