Crypterion 1.0 Full Release
If you’re new to Crypterion, check the store page for a full rundown of its unique features and charm. This announcement focuses on the latest patch notes, highlighting fresh content and improvements for both newcomers and long-time supporters.
Recent Enhancements:
- The Face-to-Face T.V. Show episodes are no longer repeatable, making it more likely to see them all.
- A spy has been added. They’re hidden among the crew—can you uncover them?
- 16 new non-steam achievements, bringing the total to 39. These unlock the path to discovering the lost city of Iclantia.
- The advertisement room now reflects the removal of commodity advertising.
- A VR computer is introduced in the Fun Zone. Because of its intricate Iclantian tech, it will take clever players to figure it out.

- The true ending and credits have been added, for a total of three credit scenes (Gallery, first ending, and second ending).
- Kickstarter backers now properly appear in the true ending credits.
- Use the universal translator to understand a language.

- The Comet Hotline agency is now accessible.
- Two new backgrounds enrich a fresh location.
- The Time room updates upon endgame to hint at hidden secrets.
- A new photo collection system appears in the treasury.
- Renamed the second story-arc (Empress and Faction) to the “Iclantian Arc,” with an option to choose a companion for the journey.
- Asteroid effects updated in the main menu and on planet Umbra.

- Cleared up huge bug that would stop progression if you went ''remain as friends'' rout. - Opportunity events are no longer missed when the time clock isn’t fixed. - Prevented being able to start Ice-cream event when Moxie is not present. - Fixed various typos and made corrections (thanks, Arcanestomper). - Adjusted some dialogues for smoother flow. - Prevented overlapping fonts in the Time room. - Improved shield collision in the flight mini-game. - Polished certain dialogue to maintain continuity on how to become emperor. - Vivi no longer appears on the wrong planet background. Final Thoughts
I felt like I could keep going and adding content forever, but I had to bring it to 1.0 eventually. The 1.0 update focuses mostly on bringing everything together in the time room, which will lead you to the games greatest secret. Previous (post-opportunity update) saved games should work. Although, I've only been able to test my own saved games. Yea, best to start over just in case.
My next update needs a larger player-base since it focuses on the community. Let's see how launch goes and take it from there!

For some time now on my Discord channel, I've been known as one-who-is-locked-in-their-basement. This nickname came about because I sometimes don’t emerge unless I have something game-related to share. Opportunities Update Live
Details:
This update introduces story moments and lucrative business opportunities that focus on you rather than your crew. These can be discovered while exploring planet surfaces or through specific phone calls from your small business.
The time clock has been overhauled to provide hints (once repaired) about their locations, but they can still be missed or end dramatically if you arrive unprepared. *Content appears early, around the time you reach the station.

Random Events Explained:
I realized during testing that galaxy map side-story events can indeed be missed, either because they don’t appear often enough or they are easy to overlook. For now, I am keeping the system as it is. With time and a sharp eye, players can eventually find all the events. This approach reduces repetitive story moments. The goal was to give each player a unique experience in some way.
At first, the chance of encountering these events is high, but the probability decreases as more are experienced.
Fixes:
Time clock getting stuck at year 1, day 1 under certain circumstances.
Time clock not displaying pointer at last week of year
Removed 'the end' terminology from first set of credits in preparation for 1.0 update

The next update is similar to the "Crew Encounter" system, but with a different approach to bring stories moments where the focus is on you. It's called "Opportunities". You can randomly happen upon them and just as easily miss them. But since I'm nice, I give you clues to their location and how to make them successful in the time room.
If you come to a party uninvited without a bag of chips or soda, you might not just get in.
I'm making these updates as fun as I can. I hope you will enjoy them. What if you happen upon the "Rimshot aptitude test?" You better be ready!
This update is super tricky to test, because the player could just run into them at any time with all the other game mechanics in play!
A new set of NPC avatars will also be joining to liven up these story events.

Crypterion Space Exploration & Auction Update
Art Enhancements:
Let's enjoy the "Steam Space Exploration Fest" by adding and enhancing the galaxy with several places to explore! Many backgrounds and placeholder's have been removed and replaced with artist hand drawn art. I will be posting some images which could be spoilers for those that what to discover all Crypterion has to offer on their own.
The new art includes: - 8 Auction signs
When an auction is open, it will display the item which is being auctioned.
- 2 artifacts, 1 with 4 variations - 8 Background destinations, 1 with variation - 2 polished and fixed CGI
SPOILER LOCATIONS: There are several destinations you will encounter. Build relationships with your crew members and make the hard choices. These are four examples:
- 2 new treasury icons - 3 food dishes for cook event - 1 figurine with two variations - 2 fighters for Nanami event - Juniper medical license v.4
The Auction House:
The auction house opens periodically as you progress the story. Once the main story is finished, it remains open so long as there are items to buy, and you can go as often as you wish.
These are key things to remember when attending an auction:
1) You cannot bid more money than you have(going into debt has been removed). This makes it important not to attend auctions too frequently until you are prepared to win.
2) You can lose an item for good. This makes winning much more rewarding. If you lose, it will become more difficult to obtain the item later, and some items cannot be acquired again.
3) Bidding happens in three stages. You use each stage to determine how much money others are willing to spend. Depending on how much you bid in the first two stages, others may bid more or less. If you can gauge this correctly, you will save much more money during bidding.
4) Easy mode. This iteration of the Auction House is on the easier side for testing purposes. I will balance difficulty for 1.0 release.
A total of 4 facilities can now be acquired and appear on planets whether you own them or not. For this update, they can bring in extra income. But shortly in the future, you'll be able to interact with them.
Patch Notes: * Fixed huge bug that made it so you missed your second date with Moxie or Astra if you tried to date them too quickly. This would also cause you to miss your viewing of the movie "Omni Link".
* Turns out that the time clock was really broken, even after it's fixed. The time room, along with this clock, will provide a significant source or experiences as well as a little... time bending. Now that the auction functionality is complete, you can look forward to these enhancements in the near future.
- During battles with artifacts, it was almost impossible to find a specific artifact in time to use it. Now it is slightly easier, lol. - Fixed endless money exploit by buying/selling and paying taxes to yourself as Emperor. - Fixed: Under certain conditions you were not able to do the Star Chef event - The Transponder artifact will now appear after the Numari vacation. - Added the Everflower to treasury artifacts. - Added the new image “Star Chef” artifact to the treasury. - The Golden Frog is now not added to the treasury if you don’t own it. - The Auction House now fully opens after 100% story completion. - Created new selection bar for dialogues - New dashboard figurine added. - New Golden Frog artifact scenario. - Major fix related to the Faction arc getting locked when talking to Andy twice. - You can’t upgrade the Fun Zone if Astra is missing. - Galaxy Shop Malthus information updated. - Added "hidden secret" that many players will not find - Prevented resizing of event backgrounds. - Fixed selection options in Erand’s “Information as Food” event. - New Moxie photoshoot image and dialogue added. - Facilities will no longer overlap dialogue sequences. - Changed the character name “Cass” to the fighter “Ariana,” whom Nanami picks. - Made changes to all silhouettes. - You can now select between dashboard figurines if you own multiple. - Facilities now appear on planets even if you don’t buy them. - The Slime appears in the treasury once owned. - Added three new auctions. - 100'ds of random bugs...

2) As always, I can't predict how major changes will affect old save games because I don't have the means or time to conduct extensive testing. I do my best to ensure everything is compatible.
Small patch and update
This is a small patch update, also detailing future plans. Check the notes below:
Coming Next:
- When reaching end-game content, the time room changes appearances to accommodate for a list of activities. Most of them are listed already in the collection room, but this will add some quality of life. I will need to balance how much of them to reveal, because sometimes it is nice as a player to find something others have not.
- I'm re-working auctions and will add more ways to get facilities. Currently, you can unlock two facilites. The rest of them will unlock through auctions. Before I mentioned that, in the future, auctions will appear as often as you visit them. It's not nailed down 100%, but I want auctions to be high risk. Aside from the most important items, you get one chance to get them. Before, you could go into large debt to purchase an item. That will not be the case anymore. There is one more surprise to share about them, but let's see if I can pull it off first before revealing :)
- NPC's will recognize you and remark about your choices more often. They will reflect upon your questionnaire qualities. *ongoing
- A few unused shop items will become useable.

- Had to do a version rollback and rebuild some achievements. It should be working, but If they don't unlock or trigger when entering collection room, please report the issue.

Achievements Arrive!
I was asked recently if you can play Crypterion only as a visual novel. You certainly can, if that means you don't want to worry about money. It is possible for your money to work for you or find secrets that will lead to quick wealth so that money is not an issue. Even getting in debt can be part of your story.
This tycoon is less about numbers and graphs and more about experiences. For example: As a businessman, you attend auctions, invest in a fun zone and rare antiquities that increase in value, and even go on T.V. (Mind Melt is our most popular show)
Once you hire members for your crew, they will help you earn money by participating in adventures that appear randomly in the galaxy. You also build your relationship with them that way... if you manage to catch them.
Of course, if you are able to earn an extra bit of coins, you can purchase items from a shop located on each planet. Teslor's shop is under construction.
The collection room now includes a new set of achievements that represent important milestones. Except for one that will appear at 1.0 release titled "Discover Iclantia", all others are unlockable.
For players who have completed objectives already, their achievements should unlock when accessing the collection room. *crosses fingers they work properly. All achievements are seen in-game accept for two representing our protagonists.

After the main story: You can certainly beat the main story without completing most of these achievements. They serve as a guide to continue more of your adventures. I am working on updating the 'time room' with more hints to hidden adventures.
