UPDATE: Monsters, fighting and VR

Hey guys! It's been a little while since the last update, but we thought now was a good time to give you a little progress report.

We're hard at work implementing the new FIGHTING system - a unique crystal blade that will allow you to fight monsters in the dungeon, complete with special powers. The blade's power can be swapped out on the fly enabling different methods to tackle the denizens of the deepest crypts.

Here's a little preview of the blade and one of the new puzzle blocks we've been adding.

Rob, our creature artist's has been working on the monsters which are also coming on very nicely and we're really proud of how awesome they look!

The blade itself works fine with just a regular controller, but is best when holding in your hand, as with the Valve/HTC Vive motion controllers! We've had a lot of fun swinging and throwing our blade at monsters and we know you will too!

A new update with Monsters, Fighting, content and VR goodness is on the way soon and we will be sure to let you know as soon as it is ready :)

We have been listening and are delighted to announce some upcoming features

We have been working on Vive and Rift ‘room scale’ support for the last few months, we now have a Steam Vive HMD, room scale is amazing, test subjects have been very impressed, we have retained the old scale which is switchable in the options menu, this will be available in our next patch to Steam in the next few weeks, re-scaling was a-lot of work but the results are worth it.

The Crystal Rift team have been implementing new ‘room scale monsters’ with cleaver AI to encounter along the way, they are awesome and add a deeper level of scares and gameplay challenge to the game.



We have been working on implementing an awesome sword (with Vive and Rift input you hold the sword), it can be socketed with Crystals that imbue magical powers into the sword such as fire and ice that combat different Monsters and threats, we are very proud of it.

We have also been busy working on Act 2 and have implemented a number of new blocks for puzzle mechanics including pushable blocks and more themed encounters and puzzles for Act 2.

Early Access Live - Act (Episode) 1 of 3 - now available! Including the Level Editor!

Early Access is now live, including the first Act of the game!

Early Access gives you:


  • The First Act (1 of 3)
  • Full VR Support (non-VR available)
  • Level Editor


2 and 3 will be coming soon as free DLC - and the level editor is also included so you can get to making your own levels right away!

Steam Workshop support will be available for the game in the future as well, so you will be able to share your creations with other people.

Crystal Rift - Early Access updated to 0.9.2 - and Editor for all!

Hey folks! We've had great feedback for the game so far and are really happy that people are enjoying the game.

We have made a whole host of bug fixes, graphical additions and updates, including additional scares and tweaks to levels.

Please continue to give us feedback - as it's the whole reason for this Early Access - and we will continue to update the game to be the best it can be!

But the big addition to this update, is that the Editor is now available for all to use and try.

At this stage we really need as much feedback as we can for it so we're opening it up to all current Early Access users.

Please be aware this is still unfinished, bugs will likely appear and it will be improved on the path to the full release.
