I've released the Android version of Cube Defender: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.SimonCodrington.TowerDefence
The gameplay is very similar to the PC version, with additional graphcal , UI and performance tweaks to cater to mobiles. I've managed to get the mobile version running well, but it's still looks, plays and performs the best on PC.
Going forward I'll be releasing updates and expansions for the PC first, with a subsequent released on Android following up.
Cheers
Version 1.2 Updates (Quick Build Turret Interface)
Hey everyone
I've been hard at work the past week looking into additional adjustments to improve the Cube Defender experience.
Today I'm releasing the first version of the Quick Build UI .
Normally you'd place turrets by clicking on an open node to trigger the UI. This brings up the Standard Build UI and it's here you can scroll through turrets, read what each of them does (their skills / effects) and choose which to build.
Quick Build System
That UI will still remain, but what you'll also have in addition is a new UI that's displayed at the bottom of the game.
This UI works by giving you quick access to build a level 1 turret without having to open the build menu. Simple click on the turret you're trying to build and then click on on empty node, the turret is created and you're all good to go.
It's a great way to build turrets back to back without opening the menu. This should be especially helpful when you're in later levels when you already know what these turrets do and you just want to build several of them in quick succession.
Turret Unlocking
Unlocking turrets can also be done through this new UI. Select the turret you want unlocked and if you have the currecy for it, it'll be unlocked and ready for use.
Feel free to use either systems to build your turrets and let me know if you run into any issues.
Cheers
Version 1.1.3 Updates (Added Mac Support)
Hey everyone
Just in-case anyone wanted to play Cube Defender on Mac, I've just pushed out an update that brings full Mac support. It's the same game as the windows version (with minor changes to the launcher)
The Mac version works on OSX 10.10 onward. Listed below are the minimum and recommended specs
The game runs well on several Mac books and iMacs tested, including older 2014/2015 varieties. On Macs with dedicated video cards and newer CPUs you'll have noticeably faster and smoother gameplay.
Give the Mac version a go if you have one handy and let me know if you see anything funny.
Thanks guys!
Upcoming Additional Levels
Hey everyone.
I'll be releasing an update in the next few days that introduces a series of new level templates; These should help to make each game even more random.
These levels will have a combination of single, double or triple wave spawner nodes, making some of these levels fairly hard.
In the future as the game expand I'll be introducing a new way for the game to better select 'harder' levels as the game progresses, including new difficulty specific adjustments.
Thanks guys
Cube Defender - Version 1.1 Updates
Game changes and updates
Thanks for everyones who's purchased Cube Defender and have taken the time to provide feedback, it's very much appreciated.
I've gone through the game and adjusted a few areas, most of which are bug fixes, adjustments to cater to certain resolutions and overall improving the level of polish. See below for a summary of these changes.
Changelog highlights
Added horizontal scrolling to game help screens on smaller resolutions, preventing cut off text.
Typos and spelling adjustments across turret and enemy UI elements
Fixed mouse wheel scroll speed in help menu UI / build UI (was way too slow before, now it scrolls normally as expected)
Fixed vertically cut off text in the turret build menu description (and reduced size)
Adjusted turret explanation text (should be clearer what these turrets do now)
Adjusted sizing for the enemy information UI (name was not showing because of text size )
Adjusted 'devious cube' (green), so that it's skills dont have the 'basic enemy' skill. Added in the missing 'health regeneration' skill (as this cube heals slightly over time)
Adjusted some basic start levels to make them easier (longer distance from spawn point to the end). This should make the first few levels easier. For example one of the levels has had it's path changed to make it several squares further away, giving players more chances to destroy cubes.
Adjusted several of the random methods in game to make the level generation process easier
Additional performance fixes and debugging
Fixed range indicator now showing up when hovering over 'Radial Turret'. This turret now shows its range when hovered over.
Fixed spawn issue with left to right starting level, it now spawns the correct 6 rounds of enemies before the level expands (was set on max spawn 2)
Thanks everyone again for your feedback. I'm really looking forward to polishing up Cube Defender even more and introducing some new features in the next few weeks.
