Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first in a series of announcements that we are calling '7 Reasons to Play Dad Quest'. In the run up to Father’s Day, we will be sharing information on Chapter 2 which focuses on various features like toys, comedy, enemies and side quests.
Remember that on Father’s Day we’ll have a 60% off sale to celebrate! So make sure to add the game to your Steam wishlist to keep up to date.
Today’s feature is The Toys of Dad Quest.
Your Child, by its own merits, is a dangerous weapon - indestructible and able to soar incredible distances at great velocity with the help of a Dad’s strong throwing arm. While the Dad and Child are able to combat many great enemies with these skills alone, there are also ways to increase the Child's power.
Introducing Toys - a series of items which give the Child unique abilities to assist them in battle!
Above is just one of the toys that the Dad can give to their Child: A Rubber Band. While it reduces throwing distance, it prevents the Dad from overthrowing the child and missing the target, then needing to wait for the child to return. The elasticity of the rubber band means that the Child will bounce right back to you!
The Popsicle is another toy that the Child is able to wield. It freezes foes for five seconds when you throw the Child and make contact with an enemy.
Of course, as seen in the GIF above, certain enemies possess some of these skills naturally and can use them against you too.
Some child toys can be incredibly useful and can be used at opportune times to vanquish a particularly dangerous enemy. Below, we're being chased by an Ice Bundt, which has a particularly large amount of health. We make haste to the turtle in order to escape via a small frozen water crossing, but the Ice Bundt is able to fly!
We have a toy that would be very useful for this situation and are able to equip the Camera and use it to stun enemies. While in the inventory screen, time will stop so we do not have to rush to select an item.
Unable to flap its hilariously small wings, the Ice Bundt will become stunned and fall into the water, dealing 999 damage and insta-killing the enemy
Toys eventually crumble over time due to the destructive tendencies of the Child and have a set number of uses before they are rendered completely void and need replacing or repairing. They can be repaired from within Mountain City though!
While we have a big list of the toys available in Dad Quest, we know that it will be much more fun for you to discover them as you play! Toys can be obtained from completing side quests, purchasing them from shops, opening chests or even using the Gacha machine within Mountain City.
Join us once again tomorrow, for the second of seven reasons to play Dad Quest - side quests!
And don't forget that Dad Quest will be seeing a massive 60% discount later this week, to celebrate Father's Day! So add the game to your Steam wishlist to keep up to date on all things Dad Quest!

We hope that you love the additions and are looking forward to Chapter 3.
However, if you have not yet purchased Dad Quest and are interested in picking it up, we have a very odd request! Do not buy Dad Quest... yet! You see, with Father's Day approaching on June 17th, we are going to celebrate with a hefty 60% off!

Chapter 2 Now Live On PublicBeta Branch
Hello everyone!
Chapter 2 is nearly ready for its full release. We just need to do a little bit of polish and dificulty passes to make it fit for everyone. But Chapter 2 can now be played from start to finish.
However, if you can't wait, you can play chapter 2 now by opting into the PublicBeta branch. If you don't know how to do this, there will be a step by step walkthrough at the bottom of this post.
Here's a quick screenshot tease of just one of the new areas as part of Chapter 2!
We will be creating a more detailed change log once Chapter 2 goes live onto the default branch. But if you want to opt in and help us cross the finish line for Chapter 2 we really need your input on the dificulty.
If you are playing Chapter 2 now, do let us know what you think about the dificulty, is it too hard, did you get stuck, is there anything else that you can think we can do to improve? We struggled with some elements in terms of large dificulty spikes (but they were never impossible) but we really want your thoughts. If you have a section your struggling with do send us a screenshot and some info and we will definitely look into it!
As a note of warning, I am afraid we were unable to make the new build read previous save data. This means that when playing you will need to restart your save. We are sorry about this, but changes to the engine have meant that this has had to happen. You can choose to skip the tutorial area at the start if you'd like, but we have added a little bit more graphical polish to the starting area too if you do decide to replay the tutorial and get your bearings with Dad Quest again.
Do post in the forums if you have any thoughts or suggestions and thankyou for your support!
How to get access to the PublicBeta
Right click on Dad Quest in your Steam library and select properties
A window will pop up, select the betas tab
From the drop down menu, select PublicBeta
Dad Quest should start downloading the Chapter 2 update. If it does not download, please restart steam.
If you are given the option to skip the tutorial when you start a new game, congratulations! You are playing the latest build!
FemDad Update Now Live
Hello everyone,
The FemDad update is now live for all of you to enjoy.
We are excited for everyone to play our new character this Father's day.
Here are the full list of changes for this build
Change Log
Brand new FemDad character
New Toys and toy effects
New HUD art
New pause menu
Sparkly Gravel
Level Up Buildings are back!
No more EXP! Gravel is king
New levelling system
Restore health points with gravel
Summoning changes
Environment art polish

Additional Notes
Old save data sadly will not work with the new update, this is mainly because of the changes to the EXP system and gravel system. It is best to start a fresh save and even give the new FemDad a go while you are at it.
There are plans to rework the current Tutorial in the new future to make things easier to understand and to explain the game mechanics is the best way possible
Thank you all again for your continued support, if you do have any feedback or queries please feel free to use the forum.

Fem Dad Update Arrives in Time for Father's Day
This Father's Day weekend, Dad Quest receives its first major content update! In what must be one of the first ever Father's Day-themed content releases in gaming history, we're adding an entirely new playable character, Fem Dad, along with a dollop of polish to the game's existing content!
From brand new art assets for pigeons and gravel (Dad Quest's currency), to a revamped tutorial, developer Sundae Month has made this an update worthy of the occasion.
Check out some of the most prominent new features and tweaks below:
- New models for enemy pigeons.
- New art asset for the Gravel, which acts as currency in Dad Quest.
- Updated tutorial to reflect some new content.
- New levelling system for the Child. Throwing your Child through buildings now levels them up.
- Updated Desert Dungeon, visually, with more decorations.
- Healing system tweaked.
- Level progression has been updated to be a little more forgiving, but still difficult.
- Exp has been removed. Everything is now purchased with Gravel.
- Enemies now deal damage on contact.
- Toys are now more of a focus for Children.
Last but not least, we've just released a brand new trailer, which highlights Fem Dad in all her ass-kicking glory. Make sure to watch until the very end, however, for a sneak peak at what's next for Dad Quest in the coming months...

So there you have it! We've been hard at work to make the content available for Father's Day, so go and make us proud by either revisiting the game, or checking it out if you haven't already! There's much, much more to come from Sundae Month and Excalibur Games in the coming month, including Chapter 2, which will be by far our biggest Dad Quest update yet!
The Father's Day update will be released either today, 16th June, or tomorrow, 17th June!

Today we have released a new build for Dad Quest, the key part of this update is the beta update which allows controller support.
You can play the game in its entirety with 360 controller support, however the game UI is not yet complete and still displays the PC controls when talking with NPC’s etc. This is something that will be worked on throughout development. Here is the current controls

Right Stick – Control direction of your throw
Left Trigger – Throw child

A button – Jump
Left/ Right Bumper - Jump
X button – Interact

Start - Pause
The 360 controller is currently in beta itself and may be refined during the development of dad Quest. Additionally some issues may arise from using a 360 controller. Like this Moonwalking Dad
