Hello,

Daedalus no escape has reached a point where there is almost no online activity and no new players. At the same time I still have to pay and maintain 2 servers so that players who buy the game now have what they paid for.
This situation is no longer sustainable for me as an independent developer, so I took the decision to shut down the servers and make the game free to play.

The game will remain playable and it will always be possible for anyone to start his own server to be able to play with friends. It is just that there will be no more "default" servers with bots to connect to.

This change will occur in about a week. Maybe setting the game as free will bring new players and bring a second life to it ... let's hope so !

Thanks to everyone who supported me and bought the game !

Update 1.0.14

hello,

version 1.0.14 is now available, here is the change log:
- added a new aiming line (like a laser), it can be activated in the options -> player
- fixed linux launch issue (access denied on gdx.dll)
- fixed weapon late switch when no more ammo
- fixed textfield issue when mouse over
- fixed launch issue with 3 monitors (to be tested ...)

Update 1.0.13 - new achievements + bug fix

Hi,

there was quite a lot of activity on the servers this weekend and this brought a bug into the light:
Some of you may have noticed that when connecting a server that is running non official maps, after the map is downloaded from the server it happened that the game was crashing. This should be now fixed. What happened was simply that the downloaded file was corrupted during the download, depending on the network conditions ...

If you still encounter this issue after this update, don't hesitate to post in the bug reports part of the forum.

I took also the opportunity of this update to add some new achievements:
- new online rank goals when reaching the 100th, 50th, 20th, 10th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st place in the leaderboard

- new kill goals of 5000, 10000 and 20000 ( good luck with this one ;) )

- new melee attack goal of 500


For the map download bug fix I had to update the networking protocol so here is the link to the new dedicated server version:

Update 1.0.12 - Online leaderboard !

Hi there,

Quite a long time with no update so here comes a new one !
This update features mainly a brand new online ranking system. Basically each time you play on the official online servers, the outcome of the match will be used to determine your skill level ( using the trueskill algorythm ). This works versus human players but also versus bots.

467 bots with unique characteristics have been created and are playing on the online servers. Their stats and skill are persisted the same way as for human players, so even if you can't find anyone playing online, you can still play versus the bots to increase your skill and your online rank.

Will you be able to beat the bots ?

Another little update is that when respawning, you are now invisible to the bots during one second and a half. This prevents the bots from spawn killing !

With this update comes a new dedicated server available here:

Update 1.0.10 , IRC channel and winter sales !

Hi !

I just published another small update that features:

  • new health boost power up: increases progressively your health up to 200 points during 30 seconds
  • new speed power up: increases your firing rate and movement speed by 35% during 20 seconds

I updated some of the official maps to include these power ups.

Update 1.0.9

hi,

I just published version 1.0.9, which is a small update featuring:

  • 3 new player skins created by Tatermand who nicely proposed to help me with the graphics of the game :)
  • the possibility to choose the skin + color in the options -> player
  • some minor bug fixes in the editor

Hi !

the update 1.0.8 is now live, here is the change log:

  • new instagib dedicated weapon
  • increased shotgun damage
  • increased machinegun damage
  • increased railgun damage + fire rate
  • aiming line brighter
  • no more slowdown when moving backward
  • new "always face crosshair" option for the classic control mode
  • restart map option in server control when running a multiplayer game
  • menu music volume in the options

Update 1.0.7 ... instagib + demo !

hey,

Thanks a lot to everybody participating on the forum ! There are a lot of great ideas discussed, and this update is bringing to life 2 of them: instagib and dark arena modifiers.

Changelog 1.0.7



  • instagib modifier in singleplayer and multi: option available in all the game modes that allows to kill in one shot using a modified railgun ( more powerful and with a faster firerate )
  • dark arena modifier in singleplayer and multi: option available in all the game modes to turn off the lights in the maps ... allows crazy fights in the dark!
  • separated player speed and bot speed options in skirmish
  • fixes classic control mode aiming issue when crosshair close to the player
  • loading indicator at startup

I hope you will like these changes, as always don't hesitate to comment the new options in the forum !

Demo


Until now the demo of Daedalus - No Escape was available only on the official website, and the issue was that a lot of players were not aware of its existence. This is now fixed, the demo is available directly on steam! Try it if you want to see the game in action before spending your money on it ;)

Daedalus - No Escape version 1.0.6 is now live, it includes:
- bot melee attack adjustment
- game speed option in skirmish
- generic gamepad support (possibility to use any gamepad, but needs manual binding in the options)
- fixes freezed map loading happening sometimes
- fixes crazy player rotation in multiplayer
