Alpha Playtest 3 Hotfix #2

Thank you for continuing to play Dark and Darker despite the various issues.
We will continue to patch the game in order to fix small issues during the playtest, and acquire the data we want to see from the game.

# Changes
- Fixed an issue where the language settings kept changing to default when the client was launched.
- Fixed an issue where attack input could continue to occur after an inventory action.
- Fixed an issue where trading could not proceed normally after accepting a trading request.
- Fixed an issue where the hide state could be broken by another player's corpse.
- Fixed an issue where the Skeleton Champion's shield had an oversized collision box.
- Adjusted the location of chests blocking the path at the Cursed Tomb's starting point.

- Movement speed reduction with all Dagger attacks increased by 5% (meaning you move 5% slower than previously while attacking).
- Movement speed reduction with Rapier attack increased by 5%.
- Movement speed reduction with Battle Axe attack decreased by 5%. (meaning you move 5% faster than previously while attacking).
- Movement speed reduction with Double Axe attack decreased by 5%.

- Fighter's Swift : Move Speed Armor Penalty Mod -10% → -20%
- Fighter's Second Wind : Tier 3 → 7 (spends more ticks recovering from campfires.)
- Barbarian's Reckless Attack : Armor Penetration 70% → 75%, Armor Rating -75 → -55
- Barbarian's Savage : Physical Damage Mod 5% → 10%
- Barbarian's Savage Roar : Physical Damage Mod -20% → -25%
- Cleric's Resurrection : Tier 9 → 8

- Skeleton Race : Undead tag has been removed.
- Skeleton Race : Magic Resistence 20 → 10
- 3 man red portals now spawn in dungeons.
- Single blue portals now spawn a bit more.
- Ante(High-Roller entrance fee) can be adjusted in real time from now.

Alpha Playtest 3 hotfix #1

Thank you for enjoying Dark and Darker.
We are running a hotfix patch to fix some issues.
The patch will start at December 17, 2022 5:00 AM and will take about an hour.

# Changes
- Fixed level module having an issue where NPC corpses could disappear through the floor.
- Fixed an issue that could cause player corpses to disappear.
- Fixed an issue where initial graphics options could be set differently than intended.
- Fixed an issue where Weapon Mastery would not immediately apply in the Stash immediately after applying it.
- Fixed an issue where Spear Proficiency did not work properly in Lobby.
- Fixed several issues with Korean localization.
- Fixed several other issues that could cause client crash.
- All rarity of campfire rest time increased by 1 second.
- Spear Proficiency weapon damage bonus changed from 20 to 10.
- Wizard's Fireball cast time changed from 1.5 seconds to 1.25 seconds.
- Wizard's Lightning Strike cast time changed from 1.5 seconds to 1.25 seconds.
- Wizard's Chain Lightning cast time changed from 2 seconds to 1.5 seconds.
- Wizard's Magic Missile damage per projectile changed from 10 to 12.

Alpha Playtest #3 Now Open!

Welcome to Dark and Darker’s Alpha Playtest #3!
This playtest will run for a week.
We have worked hard to improve the quality of the
playtest and have added many new features and changes including:

Alpha Playtest #3 Changelog

Normal Dungeon
- Expected 18 players per session. *** This may change at any time.
- The 3-person portals that appeared in the final ring of the Crypt map have each been split into 3 single-person portals. This aligns the end ring of the Crypt map with the Inferno map.
- Encounter ‘Common’ and ‘Elite’ grade monsters with an extremely low chance of meeting ‘Nightmare’ monsters.
- Low drop rates for Epic items, and extremely low drop rates for Legendary items. No chance for Unique items.

High-Roller Dungeons
- Expected 20 players per session. *** This may change at any time.
- Ante system – All entrants must pay a gold fee to enter the High-Roller Dungeon.
- Very few Blue portals and twice as many Red portals on the starting floor (Crypt). An extra Blue portal has been added to the lower floor (Inferno).
- The 3-person portals have each been split into 3 single-person portals.
- The kill log is hidden in the High-Roller dungeons.
- Encounter up to ‘Nightmare’ grade monsters.
- Better drop rates for high quality gear.
- High-Roller dungeons are the only way to get Unique grade gear – Chance to drop from bosses.

New Magic System -
- All spells have a specific memory cost associated with them.
- Magic users can customize which spells they wish to memorize through the spell capacity system.
- Your ‘Knowledge’ determines which spells are at your disposal during the game. The order of the spell memorization is important because if your ‘Knowledge’ or ‘Spell Capacity’ stat dynamically changes during the game, the last memorized spells may become available/unavailable.
- Lots of new spells added to the game including – Ice bolt, Zap, Lightning Strike, Bind, Cleanse, and more.

Map Updates
- New Crypt map tiles added. Overall map size increased.
- More spaced-out starting locations.
- Floor level 3 redesigned.
- More production quality map modules and less “Blockout” modules.

Monster Updates
- New ‘Nightmare’ grade monsters.
- Monster grades now go : Common -> Elite -> Nightmare.
- New mob types added (Demon Centaur mini boss).
- Updated the Lich and Ghost King mechanics.

Leaderboard
- Leaderboard only tracks achievements from the High-Roller Dungeons.
- Wanted Murder -> Killer Outlaws - Kills are only counted when you successfully extract.

Major Balance Updates
- The progression speed has been moderately decreased. Higher grade item drops will be much lower than previous playtest.
- New ‘Junk’ grade designation for the starting gear items.
- New ‘Uncommon’ grade items between ‘Common’ and ‘Rare’ items.
- Rebalanced weapon damages including slightly improving the damage of starting weapons.
- Refreshed stats on armors. New armors including the Barbuta Helm.
- Some armors now give Magic Resistance stats and other bonus stats.
- Slightly increased movement penalties when swinging your weapon. Heavy weapons will feel heavier.
- New Headshot damage reduction modifier. Mostly appears on helmets.
- New projectile damage reduction modifier. Mostly appears on plate armors.
- Invisible Potions now have durations based on their rarity grades.
- Campfires now have varying durations based on their rarity grades.
- Several new Perks and Skills including – Multishot, Kinesthesia, Ice Shield, and more.
- The Rogue is no longer able to equip the Rapier.
- Added two new Rogue weapons – Stiletto Dagger and Kris Dagger.
- Improved the feel of daggers so they feel less “sticky” on hit, resulting in slightly improved DPS.
- ALL chests regardless of type now have a small chance of dropping ‘Epic’ grade items, even in ‘Normal Dungeons’.

Quiver system version v0.5
- Bow weapons fire a limited number of arrows before they must reload their quiver.
- The number of arrows in the quiver is based on the type of bow that is equipped.
- The Ranger’s attack-based skills have the added bonus of auto-reloading their quiver upon activation.

Mining and Crafting version v0.3
- New Pickaxe ‘utility’ item. The pickaxe can also be used as a melee weapon by all classes.
- New Rubysilver ore deposits added to the maps.
- Adventurers can mine by equipping a pickaxe item and interacting with an ore deposit.
- The ‘Armourer’, ‘Weaponsmith’, and ‘Alchemist’ can transform Rubysilver ore in their ‘Service’ tab.
- Crafted items can be procured from the ‘Armourer’, ‘Leathersmith’, and ‘Tailor’ in their ‘Service’ tab.

Cosmetic Shop version v0.001
- We are testing out possible cosmetic bonuses and an experimental shop.
- Players acquire ‘Adventure Currency’ similar to earning experience points. The main difference is that ‘Adventure Currency’ is only banked when you successfully extract from a dungeon. Experience point is earned regardless of a successful extraction.
- Players can spend their ‘Adventure Currency’ to unlock various cosmetic upgrades.
*** PLEASE NOTE THIS SYSTEM IS ONLY IN TESTING! NONE OF THE COSMETIC UPGRADES CARRY OVER TO OTHER PLAYTESTS AS EVERYTHING HERE MAY CHANGE! UPGRADES AND PRICES MAY CHANGE AT ANY TIME!

Party System Improvements
- Players can change characters without needing to get re-invited to their party.
- Added a leave party button.
- Added the ability to kick and block members.
- Added the ability to turn off party invitations through the ‘Party’ menu.
- You can now chat with party members in the main menu.
*** Party chat will not appear properly right now if you have ‘Streamer Mode’ enabled.

Christmas Update and Easter Eggs
- A strange new travelling merchant named “Nicholas” has set up shop.
- Festive decorations in the tavern.
- Be sure to check out our friendly new TavernMaster.
- More commemorative easter eggs.

Alpha Playtest #3 Dates

Hi everyone! Now that we’ve had some time to recover, we’ve decided on the dates for the next playtest.

As much as we’d love to do a monthly playtest, the most recent playtest showed us that we need more preparation. Although we had a blast playing with you, the high number of bugs and issues were a big damper on our excitement. We attribute the shortened development schedule as one of the contributing factors for the issues.

To ensure a higher quality experience, we’ve decided we need a little more time between each playtest. Due to these reasons, we have decided to do the next playtest in December. Due to the new schedule and as an early holiday thank you, we’ve decided to extend the next playtest to an entire week.

Emergency Hotfix!

Hi everyone, I know we said no more patches unless there were critical bugs. Unfortunately, we have to fix some critical bugs. The emergency hotfix will address the following issues:

1. A gold duplication bug.
2. Protection for the error 10 bug.
3. Fixed some crashes.
4. Fixed the skeleton champion's second attack.
5. Fixed an issue where you can loot the hoard without open the golden door.
6. Fixed the Lich's projectile size.
7. Fixed a bug where the lava monsters in the ghost king's room were not invincible and could be cheesed.
8. Improved the trading channel's scroll issue where you can now hold the trade texts by drag up the scroll bar a little bit. It can hold the line up to 10000 lines of trade chat.
9. Fixed a memory leak issue in the trade chat.
10. Fixed a wraith teleporting bug.

The server will be down for 60-90 minutes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Alpha Playtest #2 Final Extension!

Since Nov 1 is the 1st birthday for Ironmace, we decided to extend the playtest a final 24 hours.
This is also because we as the devs want to just play the game with everyone for at least a day without worrying about dev stuff.
Therefore, there will not be anymore hotfixes unless there are super critical bugs.
This is the final alpha playtest #2 extension for reals reals!
The playtest will now end at the following time.

Alpha Playtest #2 Hotfix Patch #2

Hello everyone we have another hotfix update for the Alpha Playtest #2. We have addressed the following issues:

### Issue where you sometimes cannot sell the item to the merchant.
### Added some anti-hacking protection and logging.
### Fixes for the spectator issue.
### Protection for the inventory error code 10.
### Remove ctrl + z binding from the menu.
### Golden key, Skull key doesn't get removed if you fail the interaction.
### Level polish : fixed impassable corridors and etc.
### Balance updates:
--- a. Rogue Weakpoint skill.
--- b. Fighter's swift perk.
--- c. Fighter's barricade perk.
--- d. Fighter's sprint skill.
--- e. All shield's armor rating lowered by 25%.
--- f. Longbow damage -2.
--- g. Rapier damage -1.
### Resurrect spell now need 2 campfires to recharge.
### Audio bug when the application focus is changed.
### Longbow's quickshot animation slowed down.
### Fixed some crashes.
### Fixed a Lich bug where the Lich does nothing.
### Fixed an issue where monsters couldn't break down doors properly.
### Fixed a starting spawn point where you would spawn very close to another party.

The servers will be down for approximately 90 minutes.

Alpha Playtest #2 Hotfix

Hotfix Update, the servers will be going down in 20-40 minutes from now at approximately 9:45 AM EDT. Unfortunately we expect the server downtime to last up to 90 minutes to have the fix deployed properly to all the extra servers this time. The hotfix will address the following issues:

### Inventory / Stash issue
### Cannot act after Interacting issue
### Judgement Skill Balance (Range 300 -> 450 & Casting time 0.75 -> 0.5s)
### KeyBind MoveForward Issue
### KeyBind QuickSlot enabled
### DoT descriptions fixed.

### Character Creation Issue.
### Find friend for Party Issue.
