Dark Hill Museum of Death

Introducing a new puzzle and a few small fixes

The most annoyingly fiddly puzzle in the game is gone! The tilting table puzzle in the Human Sacrifice exhibit has been replaced with a nicer water-based puzzle. It's a better fit for the atmosphere of the exhibit.

The solution to the drawer puzzle in the Black Death exhibit has been adjusted to make more sense. This was a frustrating puzzle for a lot of people, not because it was too difficult, but because the solution wasn't logical. It's better now.

Additional changes:

  • Fixed music volume failing to decrease during puzzles
  • Added an option to mute music entirely during puzzles (Settings / Extras)
  • Replaced the Black Death exhibit music with something less jovial

As always, thank you for being a part of this weird little game. Stay safe and healthy out there.

Museum Renovations for March 2020

Hello morbid friends!

I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy.

I’ve just released a big update to Dark Hill. Here’s the full list of changes:

  • Added settings for music / sound volume, mouse sensitivity, and custom keys
  • Added a new crystal puzzle to the Ancient Egypt exhibit
  • Added shape and color variants to the Burial door puzzle
  • Recreated all information signs in a higher resolution for easier reading
  • Replaced the lighting in every exhibit with prettier, more dramatic lighting
  • Replaced the ugly door in the Festivals exhibit (you know it if you saw it)
  • Redesigned the Burial exhibit to feel more open and less oppressive
  • The radio in the WWII dugout can now be toggled on and off

If you like taking screenshots, you'll be happy to hear you can now toggle the crosshair by hitting the T key. You can remap that key via the settings menu.

I’m really proud of the Burial exhibit redesign. Check out pre and post-renovation below:

I hope you come back to the museum to see all the improvements for yourself.

Stay safe out there!

Now available on Linux!

I finally have a Linux build and everything seems to be working!

This should work for all Linux distros that Steam supports. If you run into any problems, please let me know either in the discussion forums or by email: dan@ruscoe.org

Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your visit!

Introducing the Ancient Egypt exhibit!

Happy Friday! I'm really excited to say Dark Hill Museum of Death has received its first major update. There's now an Ancient Egypt exhibit to explore!

I've also cleaned up a few graphical issues and added a fun little funeral diorama to the Burial and Cremation exhibit. Ever see those little mechanical dioramas that take a coin or token and play out a little animated scene? It's just like that, except you don't need a coin.

One other announcement - I'm going to be releasing a Linux version soon. I just need to do some testing and then I'll get it out there ASAP. My Linux machine is running Pop!_OS, which is based on the ever-popular Ubuntu, so I'm 90% confident a Linux build that works for me will work for a lot of people. I'll have an email address for feedback in the next update just in case it doesn't.

Thank you all for playing Dark Hill. Seeing the reviews and people enjoying my weird little game means a lot to me.
