Darkest Dungeon II - New FREE Game Mode 'Kingdoms' Coming in 2024!
Introducing Kingdoms - a FREE stand alone campaign game mode coming to Darkest Dungeon II later this year.
Watch the Kingdoms announcement trailer below!
This new game mode challenges players in a desperate race against the clock to find and defeat a monstrous threat before it overwhelms and destroys the Kingdom. Journey across the land to gather resources and battle evil incursions, all while defending a network of safe haven Inns.
Acquired resources are used to upgrade heroes and also the Inns themselves, which can be improved via extensive upgrade trees. Players will embark on unique quest lines and fight back against three new monster factions: The Coven, Beastmen and Crimson Courtiers. Kingdoms can be played independently of the game’s original “Confessions” campaign.
We announced Kingdoms earlier today as part of the Triple-i Initiative. To help celebrate the announcement, Darkest Dungeon II is currently 33% off.
This exclusive Darkest Dungeon merch is only available for a limited time. This campaign will run for 21 days, and if it is fully funded by March 12, the Plague Doctor plushie is guaranteed to go into production. You can read more about how Makeship campaigns work here.
This DLC contains 2 new heroes with playable backstories and a special unlock quest, a wandering mini-boss + more.
Take a look at our heroes in action in the Binding Blade launch trailer below.
The Duelist is a disciplined and deadly combatant capable of tactically switching between Defensive and Aggressive stances. She is able to move between ranks with ease, attacking from both the front and back ranks, dispatching her enemies with brutal efficiency.
The Crusader has returned! This battle hardened knight is fueled by a radiant Holy fire and will Smite his foes where they stand.
To celebrate the launch of the DLC, Darkest Dungeon II is 25% off from now until the end of the Winter Sale.
We’ve also added The Binding Blade to the Oblivion Edition Bundle. This bundle contains Darkest Dungeon II, The Binding Blade DLC and the official game soundtrack!

In other news, Darkest Dungeon II had it's first free themed update since launch - Chirurgeon's Table - just one month ago. In addition to a new location, two new minibosses, 6 new champion enemies, and completely overhauled torch and Infernal Flames, we are happy to announce that this update also contained both gamepad and Steam Deck support! These features have been frequently requested since launch, and we were happy to get them into our players hands.
Our team is excited for everyone to experience the first of many updates we have planned for Darkest Dungeon II, but we have grand plans for the road ahead.
We are steadily working towards hero origin skins, mod support, and other quality of life improvements. Additionally, we are also focusing on new features that will help improve some of the areas that receive the most lukewarm or negative feedback. Specifically we want to continue to improve the sense of agency and dynamism (reduce some areas of RNG) plus add more variety and replayability. We look forward to sharing details with you as these features approach completion.
We love this game, and will continue to keep making it better and better.
Thanks for your support.
Darkest Dungeon II is available now!
The time has come to face your failures.
Darkest Dungeon II is available now on Steam!
A limited time bundle called ‘The Iron Crown’ is available which includes both Darkest Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon II for 25% off. With Steam’s “complete my bundle” functionality, existing owners of the first game will be able to purchase the sequel at the discounted price.
Note: Steam Cloud Save is not yet implemented for the 1.0 release. We plan to add it in the very near future. Apologies for the inconvenience.
Many of you got a glimpse of the game during Steam Next Fest. We want to send a massive thank you to those who played our demo in February and sent us feedback. Based on your comments, we made a number of improvements to our driving system, the Valley and first time user experience - along with a huge swath of new content and features.
We wanted to take this opportunity to discuss what you can expect on May 8th, and beyond.
At launch the game will feature 12 playable characters with a complete narrative featuring 5 acts. Each act is a challenging expedition in which you assemble a party of four heroes and then navigate a series of deadly regions in a quest to reach the Mountain, which houses an imposing end boss themed to that particular Confession. The final two acts and our blight-fueled 12th playable character, The Flagellant, will be new to our 1.0 release. You can also expect to see corpse art, hero palettes, weapon kits, radiant and infernal flames, achievements and a plethora of other features on May 8th.
We’re not done yet, either. The original Darkest Dungeon was well supported post-launch with the addition of town events, radiant mode, and multiple new enemies. Our approach is the same with Darkest Dungeon II. The 1.0 Steam launch represents a new phase of development for the game. Looking forward, we have a number of free updates planned that range from content to quality-of-life. We’ve already committed to new monsters (the Collector and the Gaunt Chirurgeon - more on that enemy here), playable hero origin skins, and of course, ongoing balance and tuning based on your feedback.
Modding support is also something the team is very passionate about. As many of you know, modding has been an incredible part of the Darkest Dungeon community and it's something that we are eager to bring to Darkest Dungeon II. We’ve got a lot of great ideas to facilitate your ability to get creative! Like we did on the original Darkest Dungeon, we are planning to devote time to developing modding tools after our 1.0 release.
Finally, we are excited to announce that our community of existing DDI owners will be able to purchase Darkest Dungeon II at a discounted rate for a limited time! Full pricing and bundle information will be available on May 8th.
We are thrilled to be back on Steam, and look forward to hearing your thoughts. For those of you who were with us for Darkest Dungeon I’s journey, you know we always read the forums and value your input.
We hope to have your support on May 8th.
