Data Hacker Initiation

Free DLC!

Free DLC

As well as fixing a few minor (mostly graphical bugs), we've added a whole new dungeon!

The Grindhouse is a series of rooms in which one can acquire cards by defeating enemies. Using these cards to unlock doors determines what will await you in the next room!

You can also reset doors as you see fit, to change things around (though each room can only be exploited as a treasure-chest type once).

This dungeon is pretty much intended as 'endgame' content, and is therefore relatively tough to work through.

Those of you wishing to acquire the 'Voidwalker' recruit can also do so by hacking the boss monster that can be found in this area, negating the need to hack a player character (and therefore breaking your 'good' streak. In addition to this, to negate the need to run several NG+ runs, the boss has a chance of dropping the elusive 'Growth Ribbon', which is utilised in recruit maturing.

To access this new dungeon, you need to speak to the enigmatic bald man at the Summit.

Hope you like this new addition to the game. I should also note that I intend to integrate this dungeon into Corruption too ^.^

Additional Patch Notes:
  • Fixed a bug regarding a player graphic change when getting disqualified from the Dododrome
  • Fixed a significant amount of minor graphical, functional and grammatical errors throughout the game
  • Added the Grindhouse dungeon
  • Ended the January Event
  • Stopped players from being able to access the 'old' HC after Masamae's story arc
  • Hopefully fixed the bug that prevented Odd Books from carrying over!
  • Fixed a bug with some player being unable to rent their house out
  • Players can now CHOOSE their desired item when completing the tower

<*>Pet summon items will now carry into NG+

Happy New Year!

Hi folks! It's 2015 already and I'm bringing you a basket of gifts!

First of all, upon logging in you'll automatically receive a bounty of Credits, with the amount depending on your current level.

Second, if you head into HC-2 you'll now notice that a door has appeared without Jay's input. It was no accident, this door, and should you find your way inside (you will need to find the key), you will be rewarded with a stock of Data Cores.

Also implemented with this new update:
- Several minor bug fixes and balance tweaks
- Doubled the amount of rent received from renting out your house
- Removed physical resistances from several mobs
- Increases drop rate of Trioarch cards and other rare items
- Added some Trioarch treasure chests to Strife and Leonhart
- Increased Credit rewards from Faballa questlines

Well, that's everything for now. Rest assured, we're going to keep working on Initiation, Corruption and the upcoming Reboot for a long, long time.

Have a great new year, Hackers.

Achievements live, bug fixes, Reboot news!

Achievements
The community have asked, and we have provided! Many of the achievements found within the game itself correspond to our Steam achievements.

Save files are backwards-compatible with Steam achievements, so please be prepared to be bombarded with awards upon re-entering the game!

It is also worth noting that Corruption shares many of Initiation's achievements. So, when you import your 'finished' save file into Corruption, you will automatically be awarded many of the available achievements! But worry not, there are yet more to obtain...

Bugs
We recently received a very detailed bug report, for which we are incredibly grateful! The vast majority of the described bugs & quirks have now been addressed in this update. Of course, we don't know about bugs unless they are encountered by our wonderful players, so if you do encounter something amiss in the latest update, do please let us know in the community hub.

Reboot
The third title in the series features an overhauled side-view battle system, pixel movement, hand-painted environments and an entirely new cast of characters. We're also making a point to increase our focus on a more intensive narrative including detailed backstories.
Our news? As our reputation and rapport with Valve continues to increase, we have been granted a free credit to release Data Hacker: Reboot without a Greenlight campaign!

Thank you all so much for your support. Continued support from the community allows us to continue to improve our titles, as demonstrated in Reboot. If you haven't done so already, you can check the game out on our Official Website

Achievements Incoming!

Some of you may have noticed that there are now a series of achievements on Steam, most of which correspond to a particular in-game achievement.

This has caused us some major head-scratching, but we got there in the end. Many of you have requested Achievements, so we made the effort to implement them.

At the moment, we're thoroughly testing to ensure that they're working as anticipated. Stay tuned!

Corruption is now live on the Steam Store!

Loved Initiation? Well, Corruption is now available to purchase on the Steam store!

For those of you who already own the game, you should be receiving your Steam keys shortly through the distributor from which you bought the game.

You can continue your 'finished' save file from Initiation directly through to Corruption simply by loading your save file when prompted! Or, if you've not yet completed Initiation, simply start a new game to roll a new character and plot direction.

Thanks again to everybody who voted!

Data Hacker: Corruption has been Greenlit!

Thanks to all of you lovely voters, the second entry into the Data Hacker series has been Greenlit! Now, we're getting to work prepping the game for Steam release!

What can you do in the meantime?

[Vote for Reboot on Greenlight!]
Reboot is the third entry, featuring an overhauled battle system, improved gameplay aspects, an entire cast of playable characters and beautifully hand-painted environments! Let's not forget the Hacking!

If you wish to continue your Initiation save file over onto Corruption, be sure to complete the game and select the option to 'finish' your save file. This will ensure a stress-free transition when you come to import your file into Corruption!

Once again, thank you.

Corruption Still on Greenlight!

And we're so close!

For those of you who don't know, Corruption is the second Data Hacker game in the series (we're well underway with developing the third!) allowing players to take completed Initiation save files along for the ride!

Corruption's main feature is the double-barrel story. Whether or not you take your old save file along with you, Jay will take one of two paths in Corruption, determining the plot that you'll be able to play through.

If you haven't done so already, head on over to Corruption's Greenlight: Corruption Greenlight

Oh, and while you're at it, Reboot, the third Data Hacker title takes the series to new heights with a side-view animated battles, character action voiceovers, more detailed maps and in-game character artwork. If we could get it Greenlit before release, that would be awesome: Reboot Greenlight

A massive thank you to all who have supported New Reality Games through its initial and transitional stages, allowing us to get to the point where we can really improve the presentation and gameplay of the games we make.

Data Hacker: Reboot Kickstarter Campaign

So hey guys, you know, we indie developers don't have the luxury of being funded by big Publishers and the likes. So once in a while we ask the gracious gamers of the world to help out with the development of our titles.

It is through this method of funding, combined with the trickle of revenue from past games, that we can step up the presentation and functionality of our games.

And so we humbly present to you our newest campaign for Data Hacker: Reboot!

I'd just like to say a massive thank you for supporting myself, my team, the Data Hacker series, and the indie games market in general.

-Ross

The Reboot Initiative - what is it?

Okay, so Initiation was the very first commercial title developed by New Reality Games (formerly Gamers Immersive/Studio 69), and as such, it's starting to look like it could do with a 'lick of paint,' as it were.

Fortunately, this doesn't turn everyone off the game- they give it a chance because the story and characters are incredibly solid aspects of the project. The narrative is the core focus here.

Now, we're on Steam. It's time to up our game. The Reboot Initiative is a project which aims to bring both Initiation and Corruption up to the standards of Reboot (our third Data Hacker title; currently in development). This will be a gradual process, which will be automatically applied to your game as we progress.

Question: Why didn't you wait until the revamp was complete before releasing on Steam?
Answer: We've sold a ton of copies of Initiation, directly and through indie bundles. These are the wonderful people who voted us through the Greenlight process. Our initial release on Steam is a massive 'Thank you!' for supporting us thus far.

In closing: thank you all so much for your support. We're working hard to continue improving our games, and with the support and feedback of the retro-rpg community, we know that we can make this Saga truly shine.
