Free Weekend

Great news! We received approval from Valve to do a free weekend for Days of War!

Originally it was scheduled to start a week from today, but after checking against our roadmap and consulting with some of you, we've decided to push it out a few more weeks.

We will confirm the new date when it's finalized. We're aware servers may be sparse in the meantime but we think it'll be worth it to have a meatier update alongside the Free Weekend which will provide some very new and different experiences than are in game now. The later date also gives us more options for discounting and promotion.


Workshop

There have been a ton of great maps created with our editor, thank you to Wojcieszy, Force Whut, Schmiddi, Madddddox, Bredera, Gen.Harris, Mr. 4HyDe, MrTC, Nasty, Emc and Turner for your contributions to the workshop!

It is our goal to have Omaha/Foy (detonation) and Ember/Fjord (groundwar) ready for our free weekend, we will be hosting some tests of this content in March so we can iron out any gameplay issues before.

Please note that items on the roadmap underneath the dotted lines ---- are mainly for discussion and do not represent a commitment until we see a large interest in them so please join us in Discord and let us know what you think our priorities should be.

Post Launch Update

Hey everyone,

We wanted to give an update on the launch and the future of Days of War.

Unfortunately we had some issues on our launch day that were out of our control. In short, the store was not functioning as it should have because of a platform wide outage, and our game did not officially move into release state until 5 days after launch. This affected our launch day visibility on the store and the notifications that let people know the game left Early Access.

We needed all of this to land on Day 1, and having this stuff sporadically turn on the week following launch was of little help, and in some ways damaging. For example last week all our new positive reviews were suddenly lumped back in with the old early access reviews, returning us to just a 'Mixed' score.

We know the number of players is a big issue, and with the help of Valve we're trying to do a free weekend with a significant update this month.

Thanks for all the bug reports and feedback. In the past week we've put out 3 patches, you can see the changelog in the main menu under PATCH NOTES. We were hoping to announce our full roadmap last weekend but the launch issues have required us to focus elsewhere and now we need to reassess what will be delivered and when.

We're no stranger to fighting uphill battles here, and we can't tell you enough how much we appreciate the ongoing support.

The day is here! The update is live! Steam went down for the 2 hrs before launch but we still got it up there somehow!

We welcome all our Kickstarter backers and Early Access supporters to come back and give the new Days of War a try. We put many years of hard work in to try and deliver what we promised, and there's still more to come.

Pre-loading is available for Early Access owners

Pre-loading
Days of War 2.0 lands tomorrow but if you own the game you can preload 95% of it right now, just install the game. It will be locked until tomorrow, going live around midday for us in New York or evening in EU.


Roadmap

As we've said before, this release is just the beginning of the next phase for Days of War. We will be releasing an updated Feature and Content Roadmap this weekend to give you a sense of what we're working on and where we want to take the game. We'll also be looking to the community to help inform that roadmap.


Map Editor

The Map Editor is pending release on the Epic Games launcher, we will announce here when it's live. In the meantime visit the wiki and download UE4.20.3 to get a headstart.

Bug Reporting

Finally, while the game is running better than it ever has, but we still expect a few bugs and a few hotfixes over the next few days. Please bear with us while we get fixes out and please use the Steam Forums to submit bugs (there's a link in the main game menu).

One week left!

The update will be going live on the 30th.

If you already own the game you don't need to do anything but install the update. We are looking into pre-loading options and will make an announcement if/when pre-loading goes live.

If you don't own Days of War yet, we recommend waiting until the release, in the meantime you can add it to your Wishlist to get an email notification when everything goes live.

The day has finally arrived.

On January 30th we will be making the massive update live and taking the game out of Early Access.

We took our time getting here because we truly wanted Days of War to be as good as we imagined it could be. We think the foundation of the game is very solid, but there's still a lot we want to do. We expect this milestone to be the real beginning for Days of War, not the end.

We've got a few more surprises we're trying to squeeze in for release or shortly thereafter, along with a new trailer dropping on the 30th.

For all of you who supported us in Early Access, and even before that, we thank you once again for giving us the privilege of working on this project. If you were not happy with your first experience with Days of War all we ask is that you give us one more chance to prove to you we are dedicated to making this a game worth playing for years to come.

Closed Beta Weekend #2

Hey Everyone,

The next closed beta weekend is about to go live.

The first beta weekend went great. Servers were stable, the game was more stable and performant than its ever been, and most importantly we were able to collect in game data and survey responses from thousands of players on how to improve the game.

We've used this and other feedback from our Official Discord channel to make changes for this second beta weekend.

After addressing some of this feedback and seeing some initial positive reactions, we've never been more excited about the state of the game and where we know we can take it.

There will be another survey this time, thanks in advance to everyone who fills it out.

Weapon balance, recoil, and movement have all had significant changes. Read below for the full changelog.

Gameplay

  • Overhauled movement (speed/acceleration/friction)
  • Removed limit on vertical recoil and redesigned recoil for automatic weapons
  • Removed crosshair reseting after firing automatics
  • Weapon damage rebalanced, Supports are now more powerful, a few rate of fire tweaks
  • Fixed a bug where movement was not penalizing rifle shots, moving and shooting is much less effective now
  • Fixed a bug on the snipers where FOV zoom was too slow
  • Sniper scope time increased
  • Changed default vertical mouse sensitivity to be 1:1 with horizontal
  • Fixed an issue where flag caps are counted during warmup
  • Jumping now consumes stamina,
  • Fixed issues with quickswitching on sniper
  • Increased the size of grenades 25% to be more visible in the world (physics still need polish)
  • Grenade throwing tweaked
  • Dropped weapons have stronger throw
  • Bots capture flags less often now, but will help you capture two man flags better
  • Fixed issue where sniper couldn't scope, shoot, quick switch, scope
  • Reduced jump velocity 10% to reduce hang time in air when sprint + jumping
  • Increased size of bullet impact decals

Maps

  • Exploits across all maps patched
  • Route changes to Riverbed
  • Redesigned parts of Railyard to tighten up sightlines, create more choke points and give Allies more advantage
  • Proper minimap for Railyard added

Audio

  • Fixed issue where footsteps behind you would not play (enemy and friendly)
  • Rebuilt 3p sound mix (relative volumes)
  • Fixed bug where many guns 3p sounds were playing at lower volume (most notable mp40 and thompson)
  • Fixed bug where kar98 3p sound was playing thompson 3p sound
  • Fixed issues where at 32 players many sounds were not playing.
  • Increased gunshot and footsteps audible range
  • Adjusted sound falloff over distance curves for both guns and footsteps
  • Lowered death sound volume
  • “Point captured” sound now plays 3p instead of 1p
  • Sniper scope sound adjusted
  • Added panting noise on low stamina

UI

  • Minimap can now scale using + and – on numpad
  • Fixed an issue with victory screen not having black bars on wide screen monitors
  • Camera bob is now off by default
  • Fixes for non 16:9 resolutions
  • Thrown rifle grenades showing properly in kill feed
  • Enter, Backspace and Esc keys now bindable
  • Sprays and taunts now apply globally
  • Mouse accel option added

Closed Beta Starts Nov 22nd

Hey Everyone,

A few things to announce today.

First, we are going to be releasing in January, exact date still to come.

Second, our first closed beta test is going to be kicking off on November 22nd at 2pm EST (19:00 GMT).

If you already own the game you still need to sign up for the beta at the link above. If you already signed up for testing last year don't worry you're already at the top of the list. If you can't make this one, there will be a second beta test on the Weekend of December 13th.

This first beta test is going to be very important to testing both client and server stability as well as gameplay, and we look forward to getting your feedback. We've made a lot of changes over the last couple years, so please bear with us as we iron out the kinks.

A few housekeeping items: The beta tests are not under NDA, you do not need to own Days of War to participate, the tests will be held on a separate Steam app which you will access via Steam Key, and everything is subject to change.

Publisher Announcement, Release Window, and Testing

We’ve got some news.

We’ve signed a publisher!!

Over the last three years we have been working tirelessly to realize the game that we all know Days of War can be. We believe we have done a great job on the development side but we know we can do better on the marketing and promotion and so we are proud to announce we are partnering with Graffiti Games to give us the experience and resources we need to properly launch our title!

We can confirm that the game is coming in early 2020, and we're confident it will be in great shape by then.

We’ve got a lot of new stuff: 12 finished maps in total (10 of which are new), a lot of new weapons, and bunch of features you can see listed over on the store page. Also there's a new trailer up that shows some of the content and the latest gameplay which you can view here –

The game is in an excellent state and we’re very happy with it. Often while testing something we find that we’ve just been facing off with the bots for 20 minutes without realizing it. There's a satisfaction to the combat that has really come together in the last few months.

There's still a lot of work to be done, much of which will be dictated by our play tests with you. We will begin these in September, more details on that soon but we look forward to finally getting your guys feedback!

In the meantime we’re preparing for our first big event, PAX West, where we will have a booth and a playable demo.
