Dear community,

We won't go into too much detail now, but here are the most important changes, additions and fixes you can look forward to:

• Player vs. Player multiplayer mode is ready for you and your friends (8 max for now)
• New Story missions - level cap raised to 20, item drop rates increased, including legendary and mythical sets
• New maps for Survival, Biohazard, Infestation and Lone Wolf
• HUD improvements (showing percentage, info about killing etc.)
• Ability improvements (new abilities added, easier ability equipping etc.)
• A pack of new guns (cold weapons like a baseball bat or Thor's hammer, shooters can look forward to a new shotgun and sniper rifle)
• New 3PV animations and 3PV character skin tweaks
• New gear sets and implant with shop improvements
• And many and much more!

We would like to release this final update at the beggining of next week, but as always, our schedule can change very quickly due to unexpected issues, which seem to grow exponentially as the game gets bigger. After we release the update, we'll be testing and fixing the game like crazy, so that we are ready for the full release at the May. We will need your help more than ever - please, continue to post any issues and suggestions you might have in the forums. Your comments are very helpful to us and speed up the process considerably.

PERFORMANCE UPDATE 1.1.1 IS LIVE!

Surprise! Performance update!
First and foremost, the stuttering and frame drops on some computers (mostly with i5 CPU or worse) should now be almost completely suppressed. Most computers where the GPU is not limiting the game should also see a small frame rate boost.

What else can you look forward to?

ADDED:

  • new difficulty "Hell" - for the mythical warriors that wear purple. Trying it without really good gear is a rather short and painful experience.
  • health bars for the crystal spires in Wagner's inner sanctum


CHANGED:

  • increased grenade explosion power a bit
  • Proteus pistol type category changed from Rifle to Pistols (now it works for achievement Get kills with pistol)
  • decreased drop rate for the Vandal knives
  • updated the Russian translation
  • damage from the soldier kicking and zombie lunging
  • aim dots, holosights and aim assists on most weapon are now shining in the dark


FIXED:

  • chimera projectiles occassionaly exploding in front of the player
  • aim sensitivity for the Hyperion sniper rifle
  • delayed AI reactions after being hit
  • the reloading bug with the shotgun
  • shield recharging crystal spires can now be damaged with explosive weapons
  • wrong GUI scaling in the first talk with Danette in non-native screen resolution
  • Jetlift Cargo - Haxxor submission ending, corrected enemy count
  • Achievement Home Prison failing at the end of the mission if the player follows Danette to the elevator.
  • aiming problems with some weapons

We are ever so sorry for having kept you waiting, but believe us - we were doing our best to be able to offer you lots of new content and as many fixes as possible. Without further ado, please welcome the new and improved Dead Effect 2!

This update raises the level cap to number 14, which means 5 brand-new levels! There’s a lot of changes and additions in the coop, too (like joining mid-game, in-game chat, or continual playing), plus we’ve implemented fan-made Russian subtitles. Below is a list of all the tweaks, fixes and additions featured in the update – feast your eyes for a bit before you get back to slashing zombies, mutants and other baddies. Enjoy!


WHAT’S FIXED:

CO-OP:
- Improved the online game browser (added info about difficulty, player count and progress of the game)
- Chat in the lobby (sending message after pressing the space bar)
- Wrong death screams for players
- Synchronization of the codes for hacking minigames
- Fixed players spawning into each other
- Better balanced enemies – adjusted numbers and difficulty
- Fixed wrong synchronization of enemy numbers in Biohazard

CHARACTERS:
- 3PV animation tweaks – gun-holding positions, face expressions, shooting expressions
- Model skin tweaks

AI ENEMIES + NPCs:
- Skin tweaks
- AI soldier behaviour improved (they cover better, they are more accurate, they cooperate when moving between obstacles)
- Delta soldiers with shotguns move in closer
- Increased health
- Ninjas have decreased health, but their attacks are more deadly

WEAPONS, IMPLANTS, GEAR:
- Aim position tweaks
- Codex compatibility for special implants (Wrestler's heart)
- Ammo refill before the mission start refills grenades too
- Sorting items in the gear and implant inventory

UI + CONTROLS:
- Mouse smoothing and acceleration - can be now disabled in Options (move the slider all the way to the left)
- Full screen glitches (unclickable text boxes, pads etc.)
- Changed the selection sound for Main menu and Options
- Wrong scale for the Mission Summary in some full-screen resolutions
- Minor GUI fixes

ACHIEVEMENTS:
- "I can haz no deathz" in coop
- Global achievements for fully upgrading weapons - require buying upgrades of legendary (golden) or mythical (purple) weapons. (It won't apply to weapons you have previously upgraded. Sorry!)
- Achievements for getting gear and implant sets
MISC BUGS + GLITCHES:
- “Technical assistance needed” mission – the damaged electric panel can be now hacked even in combat
- Fixed wrong secret orb count in some generic missions
- Fixed position of several message tablets that were inaccessible or hidden too well.
- Fixed the credit position in "Showers don't work" mission
- Fixed the door locking in “Saved in a freezer” mission



WHAT’S ADDED:

- Option to allow other players to connect to joinable types of games (Biohazard, Survival, Infestation) started as single player.
- By default, it's now allowed for friends only - can be disabled or set to public in the Game options.
- Multiplayer games are now continual - you will stay connected after returning to the Hub, where the server chooses next mission. Disconnection is possible on the map.
- It's now possible to change mission on the server (leaving the lobby window now allows you to stay connected to the lobby).
- Possibility to join missions that have not been unlocked yet, from invites or from the game browser (doesn’t work for the Story missions).

SPECIAL MISSIONS:
- New game mode “Infestation”
- “Very long duration” option for Survival and Biohazard missions
- Survival mode – added a lot more enemies, it’s much more intense
- Biohazard mode – adjusted the number of waves and enemies – there are a lot more enemies now and at the end of every second wave, there’s a unique boss with a reward.
- Playing on higher difficulties and longer durations (for Survival and Biohazard) - increases chance for better item rewards at the end of the mission.

CHARACTERS:
- New 3PV animations, gun-holding positions
- New 3PV characters unique walking
- New 3PV heavy weapon animation set
- New weapon-holding 3PV animations for Jane
- Polishing aiming with weapons

UI + CONTROLS:
- Anti-aliasing (FXAA2, FXAA3, SMAA) can be set up in Video Settings
- Water Optimization: when setting the shaders to Low, Medium, High
- Possibility to change FOV in Video settings
- Option to adjust the size of UI

WEAPONS, IMPLANTS, GEAR:
- New gear sets and implants + increased item drop rates (including Legendary and Mythical)

ATTENTION! INTELLIGENCE ABOUT THE UPCOMING UPDATE!

Hello community,

how have you been? We've been gathering feedback from the forums during the past couple of weeks and working hard to implement lots of the requested changes or additions into the game. We would like to present you a (still incomplete!) list of all the tweaks we've made so far, so that you know what you can look forward to.

We'll start testing the new build very soon and if everything goes well, the update will go live probably on Monday. Yes, the release was planned for this Friday, but you know how it is - man proposes, Unity disposes! We hate to keep you waiting, but we'd rather have everything tested properly before we hand it to you. Hopefully, the list below will offer some consolation.
Oh, and look at the brand new sexy sniper rifle! This sleek beauty will be waiting for you at the full release.

SECOND UPDATE IS COOKING

Hello community,

we wanted to give you a heads up about the upcoming update, so that you know that we are not just chillaxing over here.
The new update will be out towards the end of next week and you can look forward to lots of awesome additions, as well as bug fixes and other improvements. We're adding some really cool big weapons (chainsaw, anyone?) and gear, plus the level cap will be raised to 13 or 14. The co-op and the matchmaking system will see some changes too - for special missions, it will be possible to play locked missions, as well as join mid-game.
We're also finalizing the first language mutation of Dead Effect 2 - we're looking at you, our Russian fans! Hope you'll enjoy Dr. Bielik subtitled in Cyrillic...
Last but not least, we'll bring lots of bug fixes and optimizations, to improve your gaming experience even further.

We would love to thank you for your continued support - reading the forums here, it's great to know that you're enjoying our game, apparently equipped with endless patience and tolerance towards its imperfections. Having such a loyal and nice community means the world to us!

HOTFIX UPDATE 1.01 IS OUT!

Thank you everyone for trying out Dead Effect 2 and giving us your feedback! We really appreciate it - it's helping us immensely to improve the game. The first hotfix update, originally announced for Friday, is finally here and here's what it's bringing:

GENERAL:
- massive optimization - especially for lower FX and light settings (High, Medium, Low)
- fixed the false level ups in the mission summaries
- fixed typos and other mistakes in texts
- removed references to crystals in texts

ANIMATION & GRAPHICS:
- ragdoll stabilization (especially with headshots - death animations adjusted)
- texture issues occurring after adjusting quality settings during the game - added a pop-up with warning (changes to the settings will show after restarting the game)
- added V-sync - can be turned on/off in the Settings
- DirectX 9 now running in exclusive mode

WEAPONS:
- fixed the stuck aiming (when reloading while opening a locker)
- fixed the grenades flying through closed doors
- fixed the weapon shop restock
- adjusted the mounted weapon sensitivity
- accelerated the weapon holster

SPECIAL ABILITIES:
- adjusted the radius - no more sticking to walls

CONTROLS AND UI:
- removed the Q & E quick turn
- fixed the mouse cursor lock/unlock in cut scenes and in medichamber
- adjusted the UI scale

CO-OP:
- lobby server made public by default
- fixed lagging issues
- fixed issues with joining servers
- fixed friend invite glitches

- performance issues (especially on lower-end devices)
- texture issues
- co-op optimization
- minor bug fixes

Price and release time

Hey all!

We've been getting tons of questions about the price of Dead Effect 2 and we wanted to wait for the release to reveal that, but obviously you just can't wait to get your hands on the game :)
Dead Effect 2 will be 15.99 USD in Early Access, with an initial release discount of 20 %, so you'll be able to get it for 12.70 USD.
We'll be submitting the build to Steam shortly, so we suppose the game will be live around 8-9 pm CET.
