No news, good news, as they say...

Well... First of all, we deeply apologize for the lack of news lately, Co-VID hit the dev recently and many other external issues had to be solved for the sake of Dead Survival.
Apart from that, we had to completely rework the game from scratch, first because Unreal Engine 5, second because it was necessary for the future of the game.
BUT...
For now, when you read this patch note, the game is in the "playable" phase.
This means that you will obviously encounter bugs, but this is no longer a simple technical test.
Don't forget that everything is subject to change, this is a project in its own right.

Well, now it's time to tell you about the main changes and additions that make up this 0.1.0 update !

This big update is more a system redesign and optimization than a content update! The content will arrive during the week every day.

Clean you Cache!

WINDOWS + R : Write %appdata% ,go to AppData/Local and delete "Dead_Survival" folder.

New features:

- Appearance Modifier | You can change your appearance in-game !
(In main menu)

- Weight System | If your backpack is full, you won't be able to run like before, be careful! [BETA]

- FPS Counter - You can view your framerate via the game settings!
- Stats Circles - Stamina, Health and Food gauges are now colored circles!

  • Fixed incorrect number of ammo in magazines/starting weapons.
  • Fixed a corpse's weapons not appearing with the body.
  • Fixed error when player dies.

  • Fixed that deleting the build does not update other parts of the build.
  • Fixed the disconnection on the respawn screen when deleting the respawn point.

  • Fixed the problem of the current weight dropping below 0.
  • Fixed the problem of the weight of weapon accessories.
  • Fixed ammo reload from clothing that does not remove the weight of the item.
  • Fixed inability to open inventory after respawn when player is killed using codelock.
  • Fixed moving items from the quick slot of the construction part when selected.
  • Fixed a possible problem with resources not being deleted on newer versions of the engine.
  • Cannot shoot when jumping now.
  • Fixed inability to attach open door locks to the new door.
  • Textures of collected items are now faded when harvesting.
  • Fixed posture change after sprinting.
  • You can't carry multiples backpacks by using weapon slots now.
  • You can no longer run without endurance.

Nanite Virtualized Geometry

Nanite is Unreal Engine 5's virtualized geometry system which uses a new internal mesh format and rendering technology to render pixel scale detail and high object counts. It intelligently does work on only the detail that can be perceived and no more. Nanite's data format is also highly compressed, and supports fine-grained streaming with automatic level of detail.

Benefits of Nanite


  • Multiple orders of magnitude increase in geometry complexity, higher triangle and objects counts than has been possible before in real-time
  • Frame budgets are no longer constrained by polycounts, draw calls, and mesh memory usage
  • Now possible to directly import film-quality source arts, such as ZBrush sculpts and photogrammetry scans
  • Use high-poly detailing rather than baking detail into normal map textures
  • Level of Detail (LOD) is automatically handled and no longer requires manual setup for individual mesh's LODs
  • Loss of quality is rare or non-existent, especially with LOD transitions

Hello survivors,



Here is the first major update of "Dead Survival", bringing quality of life improvements, and gameplay features that will change your life on the island !



Bugfixes :

  • Damage from Peeble Knife has been checked and fixed.
  • Sharpened Rock name has been fixed in the crafting menus and player inventory.
  • Peeble material texture on the ground has been fixed.
  • Safe Zones have been checked and fixed.
QoL/UI improvements :

  • From now on, players will make a sound when drinking from a water source (Added)
  • Footsteps will be heard by everyone, so be careful ! (Added)
  • Pickaxe now has its own sound when harvesting (Added)
  • Moving build part quick slot items while selected is fixed.
  • Now it will be easier to move an item from one inventory to another or even to rotate it.
  • Redesign of the different lightings has been done.
  • Aquatic areas have been changed for future underwater missions ! (Added - In Test)
  • Equipment interface has been revised, now the military stuff replaces the clothes slots !
Item Modifications :

  • Sleeping Bag will no longer require sticks to craft, only 20 cloth.

Now let's talk about the most interesting part, the AI and loot additions !



As mentioned on the Trello and on Discord, we really wanted to give our players the opportunity to test the AIs, their reactions and to finally get out of the fishing village after this update !

AI/Animals additions :

  • Zombies added + Loot system, check your equipment before fighting agaisnt them !
  • Deer added + Harvesting system, a new food source !

Map modifications/additions :

  • "Is there no loot?" -> Now, you will find loot on the ground besides, by walking around in the buildings !
  • "Where are the enemies/animals?" -> AI spawn are added, just explore the island and you'll see !
  • "I would like to take shelter somewhere else than the fishing village !" - > 2 new Safe Zones added + Random spawning between the 3 safezones for new players
  • Merchant will be available in each safe zone.

Hello/Good evening survivors,



We continue on the update flight with the 0.0.1c, which will be the last minor update before the 0.0.2a!

First of all, the transition to the dedicated server has been done, you should see improvements in terms of performance and latency.
If not, please check your Internet connection before reporting any bugs or rollbacks on the Discord.

Then some small bug fixes and a necessary addition:

► The following inventory icons in the crafting interface have been fixed:

  • "Stick Handle"
  • "Wood Handle"
  • "Sharped Pebble"
  • "Sharped Rock"
► The "Wood Board" item has been fixed in the craft table.

► Collisions of some tree types have been restored.

► You should hear a sound effect when you use a tool on a tree or rock from now on.

Also, the safe zone has been fixed in the fishing village (Current starting zone) as well as the no-build zone (No-build zone).

From now on, you will have to move away from the Safe Zone if you want to build/construct or fight a player!

Hello survivors !



Some hot news concerning the different bugs addressed on the Discord have been corrected and will be incorporated in our new dedicated server...
"Wait what, a dedicated server you said ?"
And yes, we have invested in a dedicated server hosted in Paris, France, after performing latency tests to get the best result !


Following this, we have corrected some impacting bugs :


  • VOIP range are reduced to 5m to 10m (Voice falloff max range)
  • Some items was oversized when a player tried to move it on the backpack
  • Crafting a Peeble Pickaxe and Hatchet was simply wasting resources without providing the tool. Now the crafts are fixed.
  • Can swim properly and surface by using the SPACE button to up now.



Some small additions and modifications were necessary :


  • We removed the Motion Blur Effect because it had a considerable impact on FPS.
  • Ambient sounds will be present in the game (no music, only animal sounds, wind etc...) (In test)
  • From now on, the tent belongs only to its owner and nobody else can interact with it (Temporarily, on test)
  • Concerning the sprint and food/drink gauges, a regeneration system has been added to make it easier to move around the map. (Subject to change)


  • Crafting time of a Cloth has been reduced to 5 seconds instead of 15.

Corrective patch

After the release of the game, I noticed like you all the problems that occurred concerning :

► Crafting + Crafting List (Only Tier 0 items)
► Looting (Only around the spawn area for the moment)
► Displaying playermodels (Characters was invisible)

All of this is currently fixed and being sent to the Steam servers so you can update your game and try again.
I realize this must have been unpleasant for you, and I played it too, so I can understand you perfectly !
My goal is to provide you with a quality game and __**not a scam**__ as it can be read on the various current reviews on the Steam page !
I would like to remind you all that the game is in **Technical alpha 0.0.1a**, in case some people don't have the right information.
Concerning the hosting of the server, it is currently located in France, but it will be migrated very soon in Central Europe to allow everyone to play properly. (A NA server is also planned)

Know that the next additions/updates will concern :

► Swimming system (In test)
► VOIP
► And other bug fixes already reported..
