Deadly Cryptids 1.5.1 is now live

This release includes the following enhancements based on user feedback:

Casual players
To not have casual players be overrun and die so fast, these improvements are made to EASY difficulty:

  • Worms are slower
  • Enemies do less damage
  • First couple of scenes now have less worms

Sound

  • Heartbeat sound, when health is low, now fades away after 30 seconds

Watch

  • Wave to open watch now possible from further away

Release 1.5.0 - Added player movement

Release 1.5.0 is live and includes:
-- Added movement type 'Walk' in addition to the existing 'Teleport'. Player can now walk with thumbsticks to the next marker.
-- Remote grip buttons are re-targeted to 'HOLD GRIP + TRIGGER' in favor of moving feature.
-- Added movement type selection in the Watch Menu > Settings.
-- Watch menu now auto closes when turning hand away.
-- Throwing improved for wireless Virtual Desktop + Oculus Quest2 Touch Controllers + Steam VR

Deadly Cryptids 1.4.0 is just released and includes lots of new features and improvements that makes the intense experience even more fun.

  • Kate will now show attention drawer when you need to touch her shoulder to continue
  • Remote interact with Kate

- Weapons:

  • Knife throwing is drastically improved
  • Knife now sticks in to enemies on final blow
  • Hand snapping on actionable parts of items like magazines and sliders
  • Fingers now in better positions when holding items
  • Shooting now moves the trigger finger
  • Using the weapon slider on pistol now moves the finger
  • Weapons now have visuals for empty magazine and exact bullets in magazine
  • Item help texts now rotate towards player and have background for better reading

- Bugfixes:

  • Fixed bug when backpack overlaps the holsters, the order which to store was unspecified. Precedence is now given to one that can store the item.
  • Fixed bug where giant worm got stuck spawning worms


Next release will include improvements to Kate like custom animations, facial expressions and finally speech. My new motion capture suit will take care of that.

Release 1.3.5 - bugfixes and small updates

A small release this time including:


  • Visibility: Holsters are now no longer visible at the intense knife slashing scene at night.
  • Menu: Kate now mentions the +50% bonus damage of your weapons to cryptids when selecting 'Realistic Weapon Setting'.
  • Bugfix: Holsters are now again visible in the desert when loading a saved game.

Release 1.3.4 - bugfixes and small updates

After a long break, I reserved the time to code some improvements to Deadly Cryptids.
Release 1.3.4 is available now and includes the following:

  • Fixed weapon edge-case bugs
  • Weapon holsters now not visible during the main menu
  • Reduce difficulty for some scenes
  • More save points for faster replay
  • Initial code for new Survival Mode (nothing is playable yet)
  • Added hidden keyboard shortcuts for demo purposes
  • Added keyboard shortcut for bonus scene "Stuck Under Pillar" (send me message if you want to play this scene)
  • Adding command line --skipIntroOnTrigger on startup will make the initial menu skippable on 'trigger pressed' immediately

The "Survival Mode" is a work in progress and will be in version 1.4.0 and will including a parachute jump. Stay tuned.

Release 1.3.3 - small improvements to the Shooting Range

A small release today:

  • Shooting Range - performance: cast dynamic shadows is turned off to improved performance on low end graphics cards
  • Shooting Range - Rendering: bullet impacts flickering at certain distances is fixed

Release 1.3.2 - Improvements to Shooting Range

Release 1.3.2 is available now and includes improvements to Shooting Range and Reload Tricks.

  • Reload tricks - fun: dual wielding reload tricks now possible. Dual wield Berettas, throw magazines in the air using 'Trigger Release' and catch them with the weapons to reload them. Not realistic but surprisingly fun.
  • Shooting Range - usability: Prevent going to the next shooting lane when doing reload tricks. Player needs to holster all weapons now in order to walk to next lane.
  • Shooting Range - fun: the targets now get damaged when grenades and Molotov Cocktails are thrown
  • Shooting Range - realism: Exploding grenades now leave a black mark behind
  • Shooting Range - usability: The table on the MiniGun lane is now lowered
  • Shooting Range - visual: the reload menu weapons are now positioned on the table
  • Shooting Range - visual: the posters on the wall are changed to TV screens

Deadly Cryptids has already matured a lot thanks to user feedback. Let me know if you want me to code something for you.

Release 1.3.1 - Implemented Shooting Range

A new release is available including a Shooting Range and improvements:
- Shooting Range - fun: experience all weapons and items at the shooting range
- Shooting Range - fun: practice precision shooting on targets
- Shooting Range Monitor - fun: adjust your aim based on a monitor that displays your exact bullet impact locations.
- Weapons - fun: re-enabled magazine throwing. Juggling is too much fun and cool reloads now possible.
- Weapons - fun: Magazines & bullets can be thrown up in the air and auto-inserted in the weapons. Cool and fun reload tricks are now possible like throwing bullets in the cylinder of a Magnum 44.
- Shooting Range - Fun: a couple of reload tricks are described in the lane 6 of the Shooting Range
- Shooting Range - Realism: bullet holes on walls, tables,...
- Difficulty - fun: reduced the difficulty on NORMAL
- Grenade - usability: center of mass updated for easier throwing
- Menu - usability: moved menu closer to initial start location of player

Release 1.2.4 - implemented more feedback and improvements

This release includes improvements taken from feedback of gamers. Thanks!

  • Realistic Reload - realism: moving slider now releases the bullet in the chamber out of the Beretta, SCAR, AK47 and UZI
  • Player - difficulty: Grenade self damage reduced to 4m
  • Player - difficulty: Grenade self damage is now less and uses Bitcoin Difficulty Factor
  • Improved quality of explosions of grenades, barrels and the start menu
  • Enemies - audio: Enemies no longer make random sound when player is dead
  • Adrenaline - reduce difficulty: manual injection now available when dying 2 times at same scene (used to be 4)
  • Player - difficulty: Damage on hit reduced on NORMAL difficulty
  • Player - tutorial: Kate now hints that there are soft spots on the cryptids.
  • Enemies - audio: Small worms now have more varied sound effects and volume is reduced
  • Tutorial: Renamed Shoulder buttons to Menu Button
