Drivers! We're thrilled to announce the latest addition to our vehicular mayhem extravaganza: the Armor! We've strapped on some heavy steel plating to your rides, ensuring that you'll be able to withstand the fiercest battles in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
What does the armor say?
So, what exactly does this new stat do? Well, think of Armor as your trusty shield against the perils of the harsh world. It's here to soak up all those nasty blows that would otherwise wreak havoc on your precious vehicle's Condition. Keep in mind, it's a component stat, not a card effect (Armor=/=Block) so you can pick parts with Armor to be… armored!
As long as your Armor value is greater than zero, every bit of damage aimed at your Condition will be dutifully absorbed by your rugged Armor. But hold on; there's more! Status Effect Block has higher priority than Armor. Once your Block has done its heroic duty, your Armor will step in to handle the rest, ensuring your vehicle remains battle-ready (Block>Armor>Condition).
Fear not when you kick off a battle, for your Armor will always be at its maximum value, just like your trusty Handling - you don't need scrap to repair it! But remember, Armor has no use in events on the world map, so don't rely on it outside of fights.
What else can you expect from this update? We fixed a handful of bugs and made some localization improvements. Oh and yes, you can play right now!
Yours apocalyptically, The Dev Team

Happy Easter! Curious about the update and roadmap?
Death Roads: Tournament kicked off last week, and, of course, it was not without fail start. Fortunately, our brave mechanics repaired the car, which finally stood on the starting line. Well, off we went, and you along with us, for which we thank you sincerely.
This week was a real no-holds-barred ride. You have shown great interest in the game, shared with us accurate comments and provided us with plenty of suggestions. We take them all to heart and will even implement some of them.
First patch and the roadmap
Next week, the first patch *should be released, correcting several problems and fixing some bugs. For example, we will lower the cost of healing - the full patch notes with all the changes will appear in a separate post. However, you need to know that this is just the beginning, and we intend to improve Death Roads: Tournament regularly: with your help!
Driver does not live by patches alone, so we will provide you with a roadmap later this month. Thanks to it you will learn what we have hidden in the garage - you will not be able to complain about the lack of attractions. That's why we ask for a little more patience because it will be rewarded!
And finally, we wish you a happy Easter holiday. Rest and gain strength because the race continues! *We reserve the right to delay - anything can happen on the road!
The race is about to begin, so jump in, and we're off to Early Access!
Thank you all for being with us so far. However, this is just the beginning; the real fun starts now! Our Death Roads: Tournament launches March 28 at 16:00 (CET) in Early Access. Already at the start, we will offer you several drivers and cars, as well as many cards and opponents to beat. But we're keeping something else in the garage.
During Early Access, we plan to actively develop the game with, for example, new car parts and mechanics. We will fill Death Roads: Tournament with content to the brim, so get ready for many attractions. You certainly won't be able to complain about boredom. We also plan to work on balance and translations all the time to make them of the highest quality.
Death Roads: Tournament will be available for $14.99, but we have prepared a release promotion you can't miss. So, ready, steady, go!
Play the game and meet us at PAX East 2023!
In just one week, our game will be hitting Steam in Early Access (March 28!), and later this week you can check DR:T out at PAX East (March 23-26). So we invite everyone to come to Boston!
We will be at booth number 19091 (Polish Booth)
Stop by to play, grab some loot and take a photo with us!
Without you this car will not race - feedback from playtests
Hello drivers! Thank you warmly for participating in the game testing on Steam at the end of last year! We received considerable positive and constructive feedback from you, which we analyzed in the sweat of our brow while planning further changes and improvements. We would like to share our conclusions and plans for the near future.
What went well?
Let's start with the positives by mentioning that the overall difficulty and length of the game are satisfactory to you. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 10, you rated the game an average of 8, which is very difficult. Most of the players did not reach the finishing line on the first try, which is ok because we aimed to make the game challenging. On the other hand, those who played longer could reach the final boss and beat it on average once every three attempts. The time of a full run was around 80 minutes.
According to those surveyed, the most common reason for losing was the limited ability to heal, but many were also unafraid to admit to making mistakes during gameplay. Among the players who spent the most time testing, there is a clear improvement in performance with successive approaches.
We are pleased that among the answers to the question "What do you think was the reason for winning?" the answer "Synergy in the deck" had a clear advantage. In the question about favourite cars, drivers and sponsors, each item received a similar number of votes, which leads us to believe that many players will find among them a combination that creates a strategy unique to them.
It will be easier, but that doesn't mean easy!
A sizable number of players have reported the fact that a large jump in difficulty is felt between late-game and final boss fights. We have spent the last few months bridging this gap, including increasing the number and variety of opponents featured in normal battles. We are also tweeting on an ongoing basis about cards, components, decks, and the behaviour of enemy vehicles based on the feedback we receive.
We've heard your requests and are making numerous UX and UI improvements, and working on more content. In the Early Access version, you can expect more music, enemies, parts, and languages! Yes, we are already working on localization for the languages listed below:
English
Spanish
French
German
Portuguese
Polish
Chinese (Simplified and Traditional)
We have also introduced a progression system, thanks to which new players should not be overwhelmed by the number of unique mechanics, and will be able to learn the game step by step unlocking more and more advanced content. This content will be gradually increased with subsequent updates of the game, the roadmap for which we will present at the start of the Early Access version in less than two months!
See you soon on the road!
How does the SKID work, and why is it so important?
SKID evokes emotions. A lot of emotions. And the skid in Death Roads: Tournament is either loved or hated and the higher the gear, the more emotions. But what exactly stands behind this mechanic?
SKID can be treated as something positive and woven into strategy or as a punishment for bad decisions. It all depends on the context in which we find ourselves. We can make the opponent or ourselves perform SKID and count on a positive result or accept a bad draw of cards.
When the handling bar drops to 0, we start the SKID phase, in which we draw as many cards from the SKID deck as the vehicle's current gear. During this phase, the car can move right, left and backward, as well as bash in the same directions without our control. Remember this! When the SKID starts, no one can stop it!
You can also try to bypass the SKID by keeping an eye on the rest of the handling, but if you have a gambler's vein, that's the mechanic! In the SKID phase, you can hit the opponent by dealing him damage, but also at the barricade, which will damage us. It should be remembered that the same rules also apply to our rivals so that we can get hit by an enemy vehicle.
Sometimes SKID can be the last resort and get us out of considerable trouble. Sometimes, however, it can be the nail in the coffin and eliminate us from the competition. It remains to wish you a wide way and always the most advantageous selection of cards!
That’s all for now, drivers. Good luck with your SKID!
Thanks for testing our game!
