New Demo with Revamped Art!

Remember I told you, some months ago, that we've got a new main artist working on Deep in the Forest?
Well, I'm really excited to be able to finally introduce her! Pandrea makes the most handsome bishonen you can dream of, and you should be all following her Twitter and drool with me!

The demo is taking part in the Steam Next Fest, so this is the perfect occasion to update the game with the new, beautiful art made by Pandrea. So far, only the MC and three of the love interests are finished, but the game will be updated as the new art is ready to be added.

Global Graphics Overhaul

We are happy to announce a big game update!






A colossal job has been done. We have redesigned all the graphics in the game!
Also, the balance of the game has been reworked. Now the game is more friendly for new players.

INTRODUCING A NEW MAIN ARTIST FOR THE GAME!

Yes, you read it correctly: after listening to some feedback from players and weighing the pros and cons of replacing now all the art of Deep in the Forest, I've decided to hire another artist, with a more classical otome style.

I hope you all like her art style! I think it's pretty and quite unique, and Deep in the Forest's characters will look amazing! Of course, that means there will be a small delay, but I think the wait will be worth it if that means we'll have a better game.

We'll probably run a Kickstarter campaign once my current game, Night and Day, is released, to allow Pano to focus full-time on making the art for Deep in the Forest. We'll keep you updated about the new characters' designs and the KS campaign!

DEMO UPDATE

The demo of Deep in the Forest has received an update, fixing some known issues (inventory sometimes generating bugs, malfunction in the potion making mini-game if you didn't have enough herbs for it).

We have also added Senan's introduction (the sixth love interest out of seven), and a few scenes so you can get to know the love interests and the village's daily life... before stuff starts to happen and shit hits the fan, hehehe! Enjoy the flirting while you can!

Change of release date

Hi! As many of you surely know, Ertal Games is currently working towards the release of another visual novel, Night and Day, so until the game is finally released Deep in the Forest's production is on hold. The release date we put on Steam was always meant to be a placeholder (although we really expected to make it in time; my sincere apologies for the delay).

That doesn't mean DitF is completely forgotten, far from it! Our character artist, Sinnia, is working on the two final love interests of the game, of which I can already show you one. And we'll update the demo with Senan's introduction and a bit more of the plot before this 2021 finishes!



So we can confidently announce that the definitive release date for Deep in the Forest is July 2022.

Global graphics redesign

We’ve decided to completely update graphics in Deep, In the Forest:
To increase the visual quality and character development so that each character has their own temper and peculiarities;
To make the environment more detailed and atmospheric.
Up to the moment, we’ve redesigned all the characters. It only remains to redraw the environment.
Also, we’re planning to add some visual effects, to arrange the sound and fix the balance in the game.

Update #21

Greetings, the inhabitants of our little forest!


This update brings minor improvements and fixes.
The merchant’s store will become more useful and attractive to players. This should give more value to cards giving gold.
The hero will level up more often during the game. This will give players more opportunities to change their starting deck.
Changes in the growth of the opponents difficulty. Now the difficulty of the battles should create a better experience for the players, but at the same time remain interesting enough.



Changes in version 1.05:



  1. Performance improvement
  2. The number of cards in the merchant's store has been increased to 6.
  3. Now in the merchant's store you can refresh his stocks 1 time.
  4. The experience curve has changed. Now at the beginning of the game the level increase will occur a little less often. But the difference between the required amount of experience for the next level is significantly reduced. Thus, the level increase during the game will occur more often. For comparison, now the player will be able to reach level 20 when starting a new campaign 3 times faster.
  5. Increasing the level gives less bonus health points and restores 5% less health.
  6. Corrections in the growth curve of the foes difficulty. Due to a bug, foes used to get too strong too fast. This created a negative experience for the players.

What's next?



  1. In the next update I want to completely review the combos and synergies of cards. It will be a big update.
  2. We also plan to make a number of visual improvements to cards and indicators of the abilities of foes.
