About the Team
We are a small indie team (*moonlighters) of friends. We started off making education games with the OGRE3D engine back in 2005 (college days) and pursued NSF grants - it didn't work out. After college, we continued to live our lives dispersed across the U.S., celebrated marriages, changed careers and had lots of children - along the way we picked up the Unity3D game engine. 8 kids later, our moonlighting finally led us to create Descent of Man - a game our children can't play.

[Footnote *: Moonlighters are crazy people who work full-time jobs completely unrelated to the game industry, but still make video games because its something to do outside of working all day and raising progeny].

About Descent of Man
The idea for Descent of Man started back in 2014. We wanted to create a game where the enemies hunted the player. Our inspiration was the short story "The Most Dangerous Game". The original concept was actually designed to take place on an island - as you can tell some things have changed...okay a lot changed.

Fun facts about Descent of Man:

  • The guards use Bayesian Inference (its worth a google) to decide where to look for the player. As the player interacts with the environment, the enemies will see the changes and use the information to search for the player.
  • The enemies will fight each other if they encounter enemies of a different type - the player can force these encounters.
  • We really are a horror game that uses STEALTH as a real mechanic. You have a detection meter and everything.
  • The guards can see your flashlight, so watch where you shine that thing
  • We have some pretty cool puzzles
  • The story is historically inspired by the American eugenics movement from the 1900s. Google some of the names of the characters in our game, you might learn something bizarre!
  • Not a walking simulator

------------------Welcome all going into 2020 with us!----------------------
Moving forward this year Fuzion Labs will be posting more Steam News updates for those following us here! Please be sure to also follow us on our Discord if you wish to see more "behind the scenes early development" news and images that we won't release publicly on Steam! We really appreciate the support shown by those interested in our game and want to provide you with little tidbits to keep you coming back to experience our development process with the very first fearful Chapter of the DoM release!

An extra big thanks to our Closed Beta Testers who have given their time during the past 6 plus weeks with the bug hunts! Currently the team is now taking all the feedback received and incorporating it to further improve on the experience.

Updates Include:
- Adding in-game tutorials
- Adding pause menu
- Implementing new UI graphics and elements
- Key items info screens
- An inventory system of some kind to help Players better keep track of held items
- Adjustments to our Checkpoint saving system
- AI tweaks that solve enemy stability issues
- New gameplay feature that allows Player to use the shadows for cover/hiding
- Level design changes/testing to enhance gameplay
- Creating an outro sequence with a new surprise creature introduction

We are aiming to get these major revisions done over the course of time before our planned release date of DoM Chapter 1 in Summer 2020! The team is also hopeful to possibly even implement a few more extra SURPRISES as well if extra development time permits. We'll continue to bring you news/updates as we progress! Thanks again for all your support!

Thanks for your patience and understanding! We highly value your continued support! We hope to see you follow us on our Steam Community and Discord! Happy Holidays to all!
