Devil in the Pines

Version 1.0.2 Now Live

Hi Demon Hunters!

As more excellent Let's Play videos come out on Twitch and YouTube, we have spotted more areas of improvement needed in the game, especially in places where it can seem especially cheap or unfair.

Version 1.0.2 was quietly released a couple days ago, and here are some of the more notable changes:

  1. "Baby Girl" difficulty has been renamed to "Candy Ass" difficulty.
  2. On "Candy Ass" difficulty, if you die after having picked up the key, you will be returned to the location of the key.
  3. (SPOILER) You will now be given enough time to respond to any bear trap during the ending sequence, if you are unlucky enough to hit one.
  4. (SPOILER) Unless on Hell difficulty, hands on screen will no longer damage you and slow you down.
  5. No matches to start with on Hell difficulty.
  6. Bear traps are now visible before AND after you trigger them.
  7. Additional verbiage changes and tips to help the player better understand the game.

As always, these fixes should not make the game less difficult, just less unfair.

Happy Hunting!

Version 1.0.1 Released!

We have received a lot of fantastic feedback over the last couple days since our launch and are very humbled that people have taken the time to play and critique our first little game.

Devil in the Pines is a difficult game to beat, and will stay that way. We think this adds to the mystique and brutality that should be expected when dealing with demons. However, some elements of it we agree needed to be balanced because they were simply unfair or frustrating for most of our players, and ultimately detracted from the experience. We are working on that and will get to a point where we can make almost all of our customers very happy with the level of difficulty.

Here are some changes we have released in our first update:

  1. The Possessed have had their run speeds reduced 10% on Normal mode and 20% on Baby Girl mode. This should give players more time to respond, run in the opposite direction and shoot at any one that gets too close.
  2. Deafening car horn volume reduced by 50%.
  3. Made key location more obvious when very close, to avoid players walking right past it.
  4. Extra tip added to communicate to the player that The Possessed can not be stopped with a campfire. This was a common misconception.
  5. Additional bug fixes we will not reveal since they would be spoilers.

Again, we will keep balancing the game in future updates to make it even more enjoyable but still retain some bite to it.

Any questions or additional requests, please let us know.

Thanks!
