Dialtown: Phone Dating Sim

Randy plush available for next 4 days (+ other news!)

First of all, let me apologize for writing this so late! I intended to write this after the last update, but completely forgot! My bad! I'll start with the most pressing announcement first!

RANDY'S BACK (for 4 more days.)

Back by popular demand! It's a re-do of the very first Dialtown plushie! I've been posting about it on my other socials, but figured I'd mention it here quickly before the campaign ends, on the off-chance anyone's just following here (and nowhere else!)

He'll be gone for YEARS in 4 days time, so if you'd like to get one, click this link!!!

(He also comes with a free sticker if we can get over the 1k sales mark, which is pretty neat!)

On another note, as I've mentioned on Tumblr/Twitter, I added a new encounter to Roger's route featuring Rebecca, the plant's security guard! The script has been extended by just over 3,000 words of dialogue and there's a brand new scene in the evil half of Roger's route with roughly 50 new voice acted Roger lines!

The new scene's quite cute and has a good amount of new dialogue, now included for everyone in the Roger's route DLC! With the new scene out of the way, I'm now working on the NEXT Dialtown DLC, which involves Gingi going to the funfair with both Randy AND Oliver, which is by far the most popular DLC pitch I received from fans of Dialtown!

As the image shows, the route's scenes/endings have been outlined and full-production of the route is now underway! The DLC's still early days as of yet, but ending slides, music, new 3d models and new art is being worked on for the route right now! With the new update to Roger's route out, I'm now putting a script together based on the drafts I have on paper + completing assets for the route. Rather than showing off unfinished stuff, I'll post screenshots in the next devlog, which won't be too far away! :)

With that, I'd like to thank you all for your continued support! There's some cool DT stuff slated both for this year and the next and I'm very excited for what's to come!

ROGER'S ROUTE DLC IS OUT!!!

I'll keep this one short and sweet.

It's here, folks!!!

Roger's route is now here and boy is this one a doozy!!! Provided you take your time and explore the dialogue paths, it's over 6 hours long!

  • Roger has a lot to say, with over a THOUSAND voiced dialogue lines ranging from confessions of his innermost turmoil to lashing out at you over centipede-related aggression! Really get to know Roger via a multitude of voice acted scenes where Roger talks about his life, responsibilities, worries and hopes for the future!
  • The route has 8 endings, ranging from guzzling cough syrup in a circus tent to getting thrown in jail for fraud! The possibilities are endless! (And by endless, I mean there's exactly eight of them.)
  • Run a scam on Roger and trick him into delivering a pyramid scheme crypto rug-pull to his workers (you can destroy the dude's life and WORSE!)
  • A new Original Soundtrack by Nathan Hanover, featuring 14 tracks not heard in Dialtown's basegame, from remixes/reprises of existing tracks to completely NEW tracks!
  • Choices that matter! The choices you make will impact the lives of the citizens of Dialtown! Be responsible! (Or don't. I can't really do anything either way. Like, c'mon. I WISH I was that powerful...)
  • Control the pace of conversations with skip points all over the DLC. With a script of over 94,000 words, you can spend HOURS talking to Rogers about baboons, centipedes, pyramid schemes and more!
  • Spend time with most (if not all) of your favourite Dialtown characters! This route has a shocking amount of character cameos! Ticket Jerry, Randy, Oliver + Karen Dunn fans rejoice!

YOU CAN GET IT ON ITS PAGE RIGHT NOW BY CLICKING HERE!

(Note, Steam doesn't automatically install DLC if you have it open when you make the purchase, so shut down Steam after buying it and relaunch it from scratch to play the DLC right away! Sorry, that's a Steam quirk that affects other games too!) You can start the DLC once installed by visiting Downtown + talking with people on the street!

Oh, also, the Mingus + pins campaigns were just extended today, so if you haven't gotten either yet, you've got a little bit longer to get them!!! Available for just a limited time now!

YOU CAN GET BOTH ON MY MAKESHIP CREATOR PAGE JUST FOR THE NEXT WEEK OR SO!!!

That's it for this devlog! Hope you guys enjoy the DLC! It was a real labour of love and there's plenty of nods in it to my older work + the DT basegame, with over 20 cameo appearances!!! Thanks, everyone!!!

Mingus + New Pinset Launch + ROGER Route News!!!

Hey, guys! It's been a lil while, huh? I'll start with the Roger's route news first!

ROGER, ROGER!

I'm on schedule for an October release! Excitingly, 80% of the route has now been implemented, including 4 of the 8 endings. Currently the whole evil half of the route is now playable! I just retrofitted one of the ending scenes with voice acting the other night!

As always, here's The Chart™, showing a more or less scene-by-scene summary of the route! Everything in green is playable and complete, minus a final round of playtesting/bugfixing. While the orange part looks quite large, it only makes up about 20% of the script! Based on the current rate of progress, I should finish the next ending within the next few days and soon after that, make a bee-line for the other 3 endings! As an extra little bonus, here's some more voice acted footage, this time from the evil half of the route:

The evil route involves Gingi running a scam on Roger and seeing how far it can push Roger's gullibility! It's a little bit experimental (it's not quite like any of the other routes), and contains some cool visual stuff, a lil 3d work, a sick art sequence and some great new music! The entire route also contains some subtle callbacks to my previous work which eagle-eyed players may pick up on!

In my NEXT devlog, I will formally announce the DLC's release date! I won't announce the specific day I have in my head yet (in case there's any unexpected delays), but I'd like to get the route out during the first half of October if possible! :)

It's Mingling Time!!!

She's heeeere!

I've been real excited to reveal this one! There was quite a lot of back and forth behind the scenes regarding the fur and boy, did she turn out beautifully! Here's a few pics I took of the plush!

Also, I've heard your demands and now, there's Ticket Jerry merch!

Yep, Karen, Ticket Jerry and Bigfoot! By far the 3 most popular pin requests from fans, available as a set. Easily three of Dialtown's more respectable residents.

You can buy the Mingus plush via this hyperlink!

Aaaand you can buy the pins via THIS hyperlink!

Anyway, thanks for reading and for your continued support! Next devlog will be the announcement of exactly when Roger's route is releasing next month! Catch you on the flipside!!!

Roger's Route DLC Devlog (08/18/24)

Hey, guys, long time no speaky! I've got some major Roger route news!

Lay it on us, phone-papa:

I've been REAL hard at work this last month! I'm actually at the final stages of development now, doing tiny bits of pick-up assetwork (namely for stuff like props in Gingi's hands + transition screens), audio work and of course: programming the physical route! In the last 2 weeks, I've completed about 25% of the total route programming (or 50% of Roger's evil route!)

This mightn't sound like much, but keep in mind, the total wordcount of the route is 94-96k words, and I even added 2 new scenes to the route (both of which have had scripts + assets completed and are being programmed on this very day!) It's been a busy, busy last few weeks!

As a treat, here's some footage showing off some voice acting + Peter's theme!

Originally, I was gonna push to get the route out at the end of the month, but given that a few of my collaborators ended up with having more on their plates IRL than planned, I think it'd be safer to aim for late September to early October! (So, during the Mingus campaign, which'll be featured in my NEXT devlog!) Based on total progress over the last few weeks, I'm actually completely on track to hit that target!

Here's total progress on the route progress chart (amber represents script finished + assets basically ready to be dropped in the editor, green = playable!) Some friends are also helping me test the evil route while I work on the good route, so that should help expedite release! This represents roughly 1/3 total completion, which isn't bad since most of this progress was made over the last few weeks!

The route also contains a lot of smaller things based on positive/negative feedback from the base game, including many skip points in scenes (to help the player control pace), more art, more voice acting, even a lil animation! There's MANY cameos and references in it, both involving stuff from the basegame and even from my older work! Obviously this is the largest route Dialtown has, in its wordcount, the number of unique tracks, the number of endings and more and I'm doing my best to make it the best it can be before it releases. I wanna thank you guys again for your patience. Rest assured - no rest shall be assured for me until this is out! Thanks, everyone!

Sgt Norm Allen Plush Available Now!!! (And a lil news on Roger's route)

Hello, everyone! I'm here today to announce the release of a NEW Dialtown plush! Just in time for Pride Month, without further ado, meet the new Sgt Norm Allen plush:

Norm's by far the most elaborate Dialtown plush yet! Not only does he come with a detachable pistol, but also has three interchangeable faces, which you can switch out at will! He also comes with a detachable pride cape! A portion of the proceeds from his campaign will also be going to the Trevor Project, who offer mental health support to struggling LGBT+ youth!

As you can see, he makes a great addition to the existing DT plushie lineup!

You can get him right here at this link for the next month!

The NEXT Dialtown plush is gonna be launching in July, which is sooner than the waits between previous plushies, but Makeship pitched me something I knew DT fans would really like, so naturally, I said yeah! I'll also be confirming who the next plushie after THAT is in the next devlog (launching probably in late August, early September, after Roger's route releases) with a new enamel pinset! I appreciate the timeline's pretty condensed, just know the July launch added in the middle is why!

AS FOR ROGER'S ROUTE: the script has been finalized (minus one scene that me and Roger's VA are gonna finish when we've got time to write together as there's lots of visual gag opportunities!) and major asset work is being done, with several new posesets being finished this month (with only a few left to finish!) It's looking likely that I'll be releasing in August (so I don't end up releasing during the next plush campaign!) I'll also be releasing some more voice acted shorts on my social media accounts featuring Roger in 'em to help tide y'all over before the trailer comes out!

Alright, that's it for this devlog! Thanks for reading and have DIAL-TASTIC day!

(I'm sorry. They make me say that. Yes, them. The gibbons. They make me say it. You think I really run things?! They have a GUN to my head. Okay. Ciao.)

Roger's Route Devlog - Release Month Announcement + Joe Teaser Video!

Hey, Dialtownies! It's time for a devlog where I discuss Roger's route some more! The next devlog after this one'll likely be the announcement for the Norm plush (which I've just received the prototype for!)

So, how's the DLC comin' along, Dogman?

Some pretty major strides have been made, actually! The biggest and most important change to discuss since the last devlog is actually in how much new content has been added to the route. Roger's route has grown massively since I started working on it. Most notably, many new scenes have been added featuring appearances from practically everyone in Dialtown's cast! By my count, including characters who physically appear on screen during drawn segments or have full dialogue scenes, I think there's about 17 cameos! There's also references to characters who DON'T appear! So, very few characters have been left out!

Here's a new cameo scene from the start of the route, featuring a character that was previously unmet (but that many of you likely know!)

Joe isn't the only 'special' cameo in the route, by the way ;)

I can also announce that 6 out of the 8 route ending slides have been completed now! Some of you might be surprised to learn that 2 NEW endings have been added since my last devlog! A lot of new assets for the route have been completed (including new character sprites, with the route even having a few brand new characters!) Lemme whip out the chart so I can quickly quantify what's done:

The little bit in green is implemented and ready to play in-game right now. What's in orange has a more or less finalized script, formatted + ready to enter into the engine! What's in white isn't entirely incomplete either! These scenes have been story-boarded and I'm currently writing and finalizing a script for these segments right now!

The wordcount for the green + orange bits is about 68,000 words! For comparison, Norm's whole route is about 42k, and Oliver's is only about 24k! The route also has a record number of endings, with Karen + Randy's routes tied for second place, with only 6 each! So, this is already shaping up to be the largest Dialtown route by far! There's quite a lot of branching dialogue, tons of cameos, a new art sequence with voice acting is in the works (and yes, some of the new voice acting is recorded for the route, with two fan-favourite characters getting brand new lines!)

Since it's been so long since you guys have had a truly meaty DT content release, I'm going all out for this route, treating it like an expansion to the base-game! You guys have been really great to me and honestly, Dialtown's success has really changed my life, so I'm trying my hardest to deliver a route that'll entertain, satisfy and hopefully make a lot of you really happy! There's even nods to my older work + fandom in-jokes in the route and some scenes were drafted specifically using feedback I've gotten from the base game's content (aka, what you guys want more of!) Because the route has grown much larger in size (with lots of new art, voice acting, tons of scenes), the price-tag of the route will probably be $5!

I'm aiming to have the DLC out in July! No idea on the exact date yet. Presuming nothing catches on fire, I should be able to meet the date, given how much is done.

Gingi Plush + Dialtown Enamel Pinset Available Now! (LIMITED EDITION!!!)

Hey, Dialtownies! It is I, the elusive and terrible Dogman. Just as I mentioned I would in the last devlog, I'm back to show y'all some brand new Dialtown merch, including the new Phonegingi plush and the 2-Year Anniversary Enamel Pinset, featuring Gingi, Mayor Mingus and Norm!

But, don't just hear it from me. Take it away, video-me!

Yeah, I think the video says it all best! Man. How about that tail, huh? Yes, everyone's favourite green dumpster-diver is back... in plush form. Complete with TAIL and Gingi's Iconic Mystery Scar™, the new Phonegingi plush makes quite the addition to the existing lineup of Dialtown plushies. I mean seriously, just look at these goofballs:

Adorable, am I right? Yeah, you can put this scrunkly entity pretty much anywhere you want. Nobody can really stop you, legally speaking, right? I mean, what's the plush gonna do if you put it somewhere you're not s'posed to? MISBEHAVE? Granted, if it did, you could do something about it preeetty easily...

And there's more where that came from!

There's also the new Dialtown Anniversary Enamel Pinset!

Yep! To celebrate the game's second anniversary, I thought it'd be nice to have another set of pins launch, this time featuring Phonegingi, Mayor Mingus and Sgt Norm Allen, together, like in the climax scene of Dialtown's final chapter! They turned out real nicely, and did I mention that Gingi's dial SPINS?!

If you'd like to pick up the Gingi plush, you can click this text! (https://www.makeship.com/products/phonegingi-plush)

Aaand for the Anniversary Enamel Pinset, riiiight over here! (https://www.makeship.com/products/dialtown-anniversary-trio-pinset)

So, what are you waiting for?!

New Roger DLC teaser video!

Hey, guys! Dogman, here! Just wanted to write a quick devlog to show off a lil more of Roger's route (and after that, mention the merch that's coming out for Dialtown's 2-year anniversary! So, without further ado, let's get into it!

Show us the haps, Dogman:

Over the last couple of months, I've been working on assets (backgrounds, character sprites), and implementing the very first scenes in the route, with finalized assets! I've also moved further ahead with the script. There's new voice lines too! Oh, and there's also been new ending slides finished behind the scenes as well. Funky!

Since I'm quite a bit behind my targeted release date, thanks to having to move in December, I thought I'd show off a few minutes of footage from Roger's route, partly to show that I'm still working on it, featuring the redux of Roger + Peter's introduction scene in Dialtown, complete with new assets, fonts and plenty of new dialogue! Work on the route has been slow (but steady) lately!

New merch, you say?

Yep! There's gonna be more merch dropping for Dialtown's 2-year anniversary (which is on the 14th of February)! Specifically, a Phonegingi plush and a trio of Dialtown enamel pins, which even come with new Dialtown art. Wowzers!

I'll resist showing them off JUST yet, but the Makeship pages for each'll be going live the day after this goes up, and a few days after that, I'll be begin teasing the new designs on my Twitter/Tumblr accounts! When the anniversary comes (on the 14th), I'll make a new devlog!

Thanks for reading and for y'alls patience waiting for the new DLC! I'm doing my very best to make sure that the wait's worth it! Thanks!!!

As promised, here's the devlog I swore to write about the new merch launch!

NEW MERCH YO:

New God scene now available in-game! (And new Dialtown youtube epilogue series!)

Hey, everyone! Dogman, here! I'm still juggling quite a few things right now and I decided to whip up a snack for y'all to keep everyone sated 'til I have more news on the DLC (which is admittedly taking longer than expected to finish with how many things I've been juggling as of late!)

New content update:

I added a brand new scene to Randy's route (day 2) to replace a cut scene with God that was added to a previous incarnation of the game before the game came out!

The wordcount of the scene is just past 10,000 words! That's about 40% of the TOTAL wordcount of Oliver's ENTIRE route, with all 5 endings included! Wowza! Here's the very start of the scene (you can find it in-game for yourself by starting day 2 of Randy's route and visiting God, or by skipping the intro and selecting 'TEST GOD SCENE' as your character's name, which drops you right at the scene!)

I experimented a ton and added lots of branches with their own sub-branches. Only way to get everything is by going through the scene several times! Here's how the script for the scene looks with most (but not even all!) of the player choice branches shown:

There's also a new track added to the game (can be found on the extras menu, when you view the charsheets!), it's the same one featured in the brand new Dialtown Tool Friends series I uploaded to youtube (which is a short comedic lil epilogue to Dialtown, with all of the datables interacting at once!) Might as well link that below too:

(Above is part 1! Full playlist is found by clicking on THIS text!)

NEW MERCH COMING!

There's gonna be some new Dialtown merch being unveiled VERY soon! I'll be posting another devlog on here in just over a week talking more about it! For now, here's a sneak-peak of one of the items taken with the lights off: (It's a glow in the dark Randy enamel pin!!!)

That's it for this devlog! The next devlog talkin' about the merch mentioned above'll be here very soon, so stay tuned!!! Dogman out!
