Way back in March, we said there would be no further support for Diaries. As it turns out, we've been able to cobble together a bit of an update.
The newest patch provides general performance improvements and should fix a number of small glitches, some of which have been brought to our attention by people like you over on the game's Discussions forum. Thank you.
The update will be available in a beta branch at first so that we can be sure it doesn't create any new, grotesque issues and is generally stable. There will be an official feedback thread here where you can report any problems with the beta update. We rely on you testing to make sure the game is healthy!
If you're itching for something new and unnecessarily fast to do around the spaceport, look to TheOmnipresentOne on Youtube for inspiration. Her recent speedrun of Diaries clocks in at an impressive 0:59:14 - just under an hour!

If you watch the video at work your boss will yell at you twice, because it has both video games and swears in it, and you should be stapling things together, staple drone.
Thanks as always for your support. We're a small team and the time that all of you spend in this community means a lot to us :)
Patch 3/17 - Now with more gender!
Helo! We just put out a small patch to the game that should fix a few of the long-standing issues. Here's a list of changes:
-Camera inversion now works properly
-Fixed broken achievements: explore every area, incinerate 100 items, collect all trading cards, windowshopper (it's now timer-based) -Added more possible genders
We have a lot of other cool projects and are not planning any more updates to the game at this time, though we will still keep our eyes peeled here for bug reports and issues that we can fix. Thanks for supporting us!
Life Update + Patch Announcement
Hi!
I wanted to put out an update to share a bit of what’s been going on with Diaries in the months since launch. But first, I want to apologize for the low amount of communication during that time.
Sundae Month is a small company and there’s only one member of the Diaries team still working on the project (that’s me, Izzie). Our first steam release has been exciting, inspiring, and also overwhelming. I’m sorry that the state of the game or our plans for it haven’t always been clear. I’m a part-time developer working full-time at a grocery store, and I’m still getting used to striking that balance.
I also want to announce that we are doing some final updates on the game! We’ll be patching a few known issues and rolling out a special content update, so stay tuned for patch notes in further announcements.
Over the past six months since the game launched, Sundae Month has been super busy. Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor won Best 3D Art at Montreal Independent Games Festival in September. In October we won Best Story/World Design at Indiecade in Los Angeles, and last week we were honored to be nominees for Best Student Game and the Nuovo award at the Independent Games Festival at GDC, as well as an honorable mention for Best Sound Design. It’s been incredible and overwhelming to see people’s response to the game and have the opportunity to travel far from our wintery home in Vermont.
We have been hard at work on other projects, including Dad Quest (out now on early access) and another game that we’re getting ready to announce. Considering many of us are students too, it’s been a bit of a whirlwind.
Finally, I just wanted to deeply & personally thank everyone who has supported us and played the game, shared it on social media, drawn fan art, and just generally brought this ancient mazelike city to life. It hasn’t always been an easy journey for us, and you make it all worth it. Thank you!

Diaries wins Indiecade World/Story Design Award
Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor just won Indiecade's prestigious World/Story Design Award!
Over the past week we released a patch which should fix the following issues:
-Necress Rhiande's quest bug
-Curfew cordons malfunctioning after emerging from the sewerdungeon
With this update, the resolution and quality configuration box also appears by default when starting the game.
You DO NOT need to start a new game for these fixes to take effect. HOWEVER, you WILL need to start a new game if you experience either of the following issues:
-Diary doesn't disappear at night after completing your entry
-Game loads with backpack open / items missing from inventory
If these issues persist, please let us know here or on Twitter @sundaemonth. You may also want to try deleting any lingering save files, which are located;
on Win: C:\Users\\AppData\LocalLow\Sundae Month\Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor
on Mac: Users//Library/Application Support/Sundae Month/Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor
Players who lost progress due to the saving and loading bugs introduced in the last patch can find a free premade save here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ffz39py851yzzd/DSJ%20save%20files.zip?dl=0
Use this save if you want to get a head start on the main questline - it's not cheating because we say so!
Thank you all again for bearing with us as we address these bugs with a small team and limited resources. Your patience, support, and continued interest is greatly appreciated! <3
Patch Fix - (9/24/16)
As many of you have reported, the recent patch caused complications with saving and loading. We have just released a fix that should make saving and loading work as intended if you start a new game.
If you started a new game or continued an existing game while the patch was active, your save is likely unusable. We've put together a save file that you can use to recoup any lost progress.
Games which weren't played while the patch was active should work just fine.
This fix should also remedy issues with Necress Rhiande (which were previously preventing players from progressing in the main quest) and Steam achievements!
Thank you all for your patience and support! Please report any issues with this fix to our twitter @sundaemonth, via email to sundaemonth@gmail.com, or here on Steam in the pinned discussion post for this update!
Patch 9/22/16 + News!
We'd like to thank everyone who has reached out with bug and issue reports on the discussion board. Your support and patience are appreciated!
As a rule, fixes made in this and future patches are most likely to work without issue in new games started after the patch.
