The v1.1.2 bugfix update

Once again it seems there is a need for some more bugfixes. We also included some other smaller additions and improvements.

General changes:

  • Made improvements to the audio settings in the Options menu
  • Made improvements to the Help menu. Even veteran players can now learn something from the new entries!
  • Added a new example mod that adds a version of New Game+
  • Added a small tutorial for new players opening the escape skill menu
  • Made changes to the last couple of jump points in the Story Crystal

    Bugfixes:
  • Fixed an issue related to Seles' menu portait while she's webbed
  • Fixed the Root of the Issue sidequest not working after being reset
  • Fixed librarian already being in the room when repeating the No Talking (Part 1) sidequest
  • Fixed Evelyn sometimes instantly spilling the beans when you repeat the No Talking (Part 2) sidequest
  • Fixed Aden leaving library instead of librarian at the end of the chapter 8 scene there
  • Fixed cloned party being present in the tavern if you repeat chapter 6 after having finished chapter 7
  • Fixed some issues related to the difficulty of wrist cuff locks during escapes
  • Fixed the Telanore escape guard being invisible during the game over scene
  • Fixed sucessfully removing a restraint by struggling in an escape scenario not deducting any time points
  • Fixed the Wait option not reducing the distraction meter as much as it should during escapes
  • Fixed various minor tileset issues
  • Fixed various other lesser bugs and glitches and made various minor improvements

The v1.1.1 bugfix update

We recently released the big v1.1.0 update for Didnapper 2, and with that of course also comes various new bugs. This update aims to fix as many of those as possible, as well as making some smaller requested changes and improvements overall.

General changes:

  • Made some improvements to the mod menu. It now displays more information, including mod descriptions and a notification when a modded version of the game has been successfully made.
  • Improved the sound quality of some of the music
  • Increased the escape EXP gained on lower escape levels
  • Changed the fail chance added by the Haphazard Handling escape skill from 10% to 5%
  • Improved controls for the 3x3 image puzzle

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed Noelle being invisible and/or facing the wrong direction in some scenes
  • Fixed Lanelle sometimes being in the monster section of the enemy book
  • Fixed casino clerk having cut-off dialogue
  • Fixed casino clerk sometimes having items he shouldn't, and sometimes not having items he should have
  • Fixed Casca sometimes standing in the room before you rescue Eileen
  • Fixed Aden's maid carrying sprite being inverted in terms of walking/idle animation
  • Fixed equipped outfits being duplicated after certain scenes
  • Fixed an unintended shortcut in Milaz Warehouse #3
  • Fixed Liliana's ancient outfit only subtracting 1 ancient fabric instead of 3
  • Fixed players sometimes getting the wrong amount of escape SP upon updating the game from a pre-v1.1.0 save
  • Fixed random vines sometimes getting involved in the sidequest "The Scoop"
  • Fixed player not getting the fife from Lanelle if they already have the lute
  • Fixed Zhara's gag sometimes being displayed incorrectly in faceset scenes
  • Fixed the wrong card being given to the player from a chest in Keron (the right card will be given now when loading the game if the chest has been opened already)
  • Fixed sometimes being sent to the Capulet guardhouse when leaving the Miu Miu bandit camp
  • Fixed the level up screen not taking the Illusory Gem effect into account
  • Fixed already obtained unique items shown as being dropped by enemies the second time you fight them
  • Fixed issues related to resetting the "A Damsel In Need" sidequest
  • Fixed some vine enemies not having full-sized images in the enemy menu
  • Fixed some minor tileset issues
  • Fixed some spelling errors, typos and other text-related issues
  • Some other very minor fixes and improvements

Didnapper 2 | v 1.1.0 Sidequest Update

The long-awaited v1.1.0 update is now live!

Outfits! Sidequests! DID! It's the whole package!

On top of the game update, we're also releasing the first wave of our merch! Check it out here! For this first release, it is mostly made of prints and posters, but we're currently working on stickers and a few t-shirts as well. There's also quite a few DID prints, but to see them you'll have to scroll down to the bottom and toggle mature content to visible.

Here's what's new in this update:

General:

  • Added the community-made mod loader, which comes with 3 example mods
  • Made some improvements to the gallery (you can now view different variants of images)
  • Made it possible to reset completed sidequests
  • Added a way for player to get hints of where they can find sidequests they haven’t started yet
  • Added the northern town section of Malutina, which includes a prison you will now be brought to if you lose to guards in chapter 9
  • Added two new minigames that are unlocked through a new sidequest
  • Added some puzzles in Milaz and Selalon
  • Updated various graphics for Chelsea and Zhara
  • Made some improvements to the fast travel menu, including adding more travel points in Malutina and Alverona

  • Added a "Skills" option to the escape menu, replacing the old escape perks menu. This option opens a new skill tree where the player can learn and toggle escape-related skills on or off while escaping
  • Added a "Wait" option to the escape menu, which reduces the Distraction meter faster


Enemies:


  • Added two additional types of bandits in the Stromm marshes (1 female and 1 male)
  • Added a new web enemy in a desert cave
  • Added several new sidequest-related enemies


Outfits:


  • Added two new outfits for Seles
  • Added a new outfit for Aden
  • Added two new outfits for Eileen
  • Added two new outfits for Liliana
  • Added two new outfits for Kaie
  • Added two new outfits for the post-game party member, as well as a casual outfit variant for her default outfit
  • Added a way to obtain alternate versions of “Ancient” type outfits


Music:


  • Added a new battle theme
  • Added a new desert-related theme
  • Added some new variants of existing soundtracks
  • Added a new OST for some wealthy areas and characters
  • Improved the sound quality of various OSTs


Other:


  • Improved the performance of the ambush system
  • Made some improvements to various existing scenes
  • Made level up screens better reflect the situation of the portrayed character
  • Made it more likely that guards who are assaulted during escapes will drop items
  • Made it easier to tell when you get a card or a chroma crystal from a chest, and made it easier to spot those found outside chests
  • The Transfusion skill now heals the party member with the lowest HP percentage instead of the lowest HP value
  • The amount of gold stolen with the Steal skill now depends on the target’s level
  • More accessories now increase stats by a certain rate, rather than by flat numbers
  • Added a small tutorial for the first time you interact with a story crystal
  • Made various smaller improvements throughout the game, from more gag sounds to more consistent door appearances


Bugs fixed:


  • Enemies will sometimes be at a lower lvl than they should during challenges
  • The Greywind Rescue challenge is available before the player has been in Greywind
  • When challenges are started from the board in Malutina, enemies are not reset, and the screen stays tinted after challenges end
  • While escaping from the Cantamille prison cell, Seles can hop onto the walls if she moves around the cell with her legs tied
  • Gags are displayed incorrectly when freeing oneself from the chair tie
  • The Exceed doesn’t always appear when it should during escapes, and sometimes appears when it shouldn’t
  • A chest in Greywind Pass does not appear to open when you open it
  • Sometimes custom keybinds lead to unintentional button inputs, as if the buttons have multiple functions when they shouldn’t
  • Seles’ mouth stops moving in a Bellia scene
  • Overworld sprites sometimes have issues loading correctly, like in the party menu
  • Some tiles in and near Etznanl are passable when they shouldn’t be
  • Nataleigh and Alyssa use the wrong gag sounds in battle
  • Bianca is visible in Camaris if the player does a challenge there after chapter 13
  • The card “Paige of Wands” is impossible to get
  • Escaping Zhara’s ship in chapter 1 after having completed chapter 13 sometimes makes the wrong scene play afterwards
  • Assaulting an escape guard that holds multiple items has a chance of making them lose a different item than what the player gets
  • The Subductive Strike skill displays error text over a character when it cannot subdue them
  • Party members often don’t appear tied up in the level up screen when they should, and when they appear tied it’s always with rope instead of vines or web

Sidequest Update Release Date!

After much trouble, turmoil, ups & downs, the long-awaited sidequest update is finally upon the horizon!

The v1.0.5 bugfix update

Since the release of v1.0.5 on Monday, we have had some reports of various bugs, mostly within the new features added. This update primarily aims to fix those, as well as add a few other things we've worked on this week.

Misc:

  • Added facesets to most of the game over scenes added in v1.0.3
  • Added new graphics for the Stromm bandits
  • Added a challenge board in Port Telanore
  • Made some more backend changes
  • Some smaller changes and improvements


Bugs fixed:

  • The ambush minigame causes considerable lag for people with 30Hz monitors after updating to v1.0.4
  • The game may crash when you try to sell equipment if your save file was started in v1.0.3 or earlier
  • The Tainted Barrels challenge ends after 3 minutes regardless of enemies captured
  • The challenge board in Montague still says it’s a “jobs board”
  • When jumping to the final section of chapter 13 through the story crystal, too many party members are added to the party
  • When jumping to the escape part of chapter 1 through the story crystal, the screen stays black after fading out
  • The game freezes during the robot game over scene in chapter 2
  • If party members are wearing their casual outfit variants when you replay them joining the party for the first time through the story, you obtain a useless duplicate of the outfit
  • Prison doors in the Prison Break challenge are unlocked even if you fail the minigame
  • Losing the Retrieving Goods challenge does not mark it as failed in the quest journal
  • Finishing the Retrieving Goods challenge while not spotted by pirates does not grant the reward for that objective or mark it as completed
  • When Seles is carrying someone while wearing the maid outfit, her sprite animation is displayed incorrectly

The v1.0.4 update

After 2 months of hard work, we're pleased to present you the latest update for Didnapper 2! We've got loads packaged in this version, ranging from bugfixes to new outfit graphics, with plenty in between as well.

Misc:

  • Added faceset and battle graphics for maid outfits (Seles and Aden)
  • Replaced the “jobs” on the jobs boards with “challenges”, which are small quests that give better rewards if you do them well.
  • Added facesets to scenes that didn't have them (Northern Alverona Inn, Micihuatl and Pendragon town)
  • Made enemy versions of party members wear their currently equipped outfits in sparring matches in the camp
  • Added repeatable escape for if you lose to Tainted Dagger girls after meeting Chelsea
  • Doubled escape exp gained and made changes to the escape difficulty estimation code
  • Made out-of-menu escape prompts show how much restraints are tightened/loosened by and what new gag/tie you get when they are upgraded, and only restraints that are actually affected now trigger such a prompt
  • Added new dialogue for some of the escape training guards
  • Made it possible to skip the first part of the final boss scene by holding W or PageDown when the dialogue starts (same as the intro scene skip)
  • Added full screen and monitor toggle to the options menu
  • Added a new quest menu system (looks mostly the same, but has better functionality)
  • Made improvements to the story crystal. Its menu now looks better, is more intuitive and has more parts of the story you can go to, including directly to the first interrogation.
  • Made it possible to skip more of the party conversations at inns/taverns (Capulet, Lanylisse and Port Letovi)
  • Made untying the girls in Cantamille into a small sidequest
  • Reduced lag during some minigames/QTEs
  • Made a lot of backend code changes in preparation for the community-made mod manager

Balance/battles:

  • Made party members able to use more of their skills when they are enemies in sparring matches
  • Moved Seles’ Exceed to the new Special equipment slot, replacing the old Head category, meaning that Seles can now equip other accessories
  • Made atb boost for outnumbered enemies only apply after the first turn
  • Made the Slap skill able to hit sleeping tied party members
  • Made Seles’ Dual Slash skill stronger
  • Slightly tweaked enemy levels in Greywind Pass
  • Made Eileen use Rinse less in sparring matches
  • Made the maid outfits reduce incoming Earth damage and increase max HP and luck
  • Made it possible to use more food items from the menu and increased their healing amount
  • Reduced the cost of some items
  • Reduced the number of enemies in the Badlands, especially on lower game difficulties
  • Increased hit rate of the Thrash skill from 25% to 50%
  • Lowered TP cost of the Focus skill from 30 to 25, and increased its effect from 2 turns to 4 turns

  • Increased the max CP you get from Wand type cards


Bugs fixed:

  • A bench softlocks you in Malutina
  • Liliana is not able to learn Sacrifice or Chivalry skills
  • The hotkey for opening the item menu (I) doesn’t work
  • Mouse sometimes not selecting the correct enemy in battles
  • Inspecting multiple of the same enemy type causes lag
  • Inspection sometimes shows values with decimals
  • Gag and blindfold isn’t affected by the guard’s observation stat when tightened during escapes
  • Facesets may stay on the screen after talking to Liliana in Micihuatl
  • Hogtie tightening is affected by the suspension meter during escapes
  • Male desert bandits use town guard dialogue
  • The wrong person is shown as saying a line in a scene near the end of the game
  • Chelsea’s webbed battler is displayed incorrectly when captured in her casual outfit variant
  • Some voice lines don’t play when they should
  • Character names sometimes don’t appear as changed after they have been changed by the player
  • Some female enemies don’t have a large variant of their graphics in the enemy menu
  • The escape perk “People person” does the opposite of what it says
  • Music stops playing after battles if you have sparred with party members in chapter 13
  • You sometimes have access to the main menu during escapes
  • Hidden female enemies in chapter 15 are released when you exit the map they are on
  • Dark Havoc grunts have swapped full graphics in the enemy menu
  • Some of the pirates are missing full sized graphics in the enemy menu
  • In Alastair’s office, the player may be left with a temporarily lowered movement speed if skipping fast through one of the scenes.
  • Jumping to a specific part of chapter 14 through the story crystal adds more party members than intended
  • Blush appears on a layer above other facial graphics during cutscenes, sometimes overlapping them

The v1.0.3 update

It has been nearly 3 weeks since the initial release now, and we have received a lot of feedback on the game in that time. With this update we have addressed as many of the reported bugs as possible, as well as various balance issues. We've also snuck in some minor additions/improvements, although we are saving the bigger ones for future updates so we'll have time to do them properly. You can see the details on what this update contains below.
So, what exactly is new in the v1.0.3 update for Didnapper 2?

Misc:

  • Added an OST for caves
  • Guard strictness now also displays previous value when it changes
  • Subdue, Rescue and Very Sharp Knife item can now only target certain battlers (to prevent accidental use)
  • Added gag talk to some places that were missing them
  • Faraja no longer has a happiness parameter during her interrogation
  • Updated the names in the credits

Balance changes:

  • Everyone now has an Inspect skill which shows a target's elemental weaknesses and resistances
  • Soothing Splash heals more HP
  • Soothing Mist heals less but gives Regen state
  • Blades of Conquest has a lower chance of stunning and deals slightly less damage
  • Web Wall and Vine Whirl deal less damage
  • Burn and Poison deal less DoT
  • More buff skills can now target tied allies
  • Guard option now reduces incoming damage
  • Spring of Life now increases HP recovered by 50% for 3 turns
  • Survival of the Fittest will now heal the user by 15%, reduce incoming RP by half and last for only 3 turns
  • Subterfuge now lasts for 3 turns, rather than affecting the next 2 attacks
  • Aden now has a Swap Blaster Crystal skill which lets her change her Chroma Crystals during battle
  • Aden's Water Crystal now gives her the Transfusion skill, which drains HP from an enemy to heal an ally
  • Removed the Saltwater Shot skill in favor of Transfusion
  • Liliana now has the Rationing skill, which lets her use single target items as AOE for a limted time
  • The Sacrifice skill is now based on turns rather than subjugation attempts
  • The stat boosts of clothes is now percentage-based instead of giving flat bonuses
  • Lowered TP cost of Heavy Slash
  • Changed skill usage of opponents in party camp battles
  • The boss battles in chapter 5 and 9 are now slightly nerfed
  • The “unsavory men” have reduced AGI


Bugs fixed:

  • Softlock when skipping fast after the second Kaie duel
  • Softlock when going back to the first escape after having finished part of chapter 13
  • Some party members being too strong in camp battles
  • Zhara being available as a guard in escape practice when she shouldn't
  • The wrong guard name is sometimes used in escape practice
  • Not being able to pick up the Gale Crystal
  • Getting EXP from Zhara when you shouldn't
  • Mouths sometimes not moving when they should, and blindfolds and certain eyes briefly disappearing
  • Silk worm teleporting the player to Micihuatl
  • Final boss not dropping a reward she's meant to drop
  • Error message showing when using elemental skills with a random target
  • Small chance of successfully calling a guard in a soundproof room
  • Equilibrium skill giving CP with decimals
  • Aden being shown with the wrong restraints in a chapter 9 scene
  • You can walk on a hedge by the main Alverona gate
  • You can skip to not yet played parts of chapter 7 after finishing chapter 6
  • You can skip to Micihuatl right after starting chapter 13
  • You can beat Zhara in Bellia if you return on a high enough level
  • One of the Stromm bandits can only be tied while playing on hard difficulty
  • Quicksave doesn't always work, and doesn't show an error when it fails
  • The Judgement Hammer skill sometimes makes the game freeze
  • Bandits stay tied on the map in the Rainbow Tintes sidequest
  • Eileen and Kaie are standing in Etznanl if you return there in post-game
  • Panicked Cantamille NPCs can trap you between each other, softlocking the game
  • Hotkeys can be pressed during cutscenes, making them trigger whenever the scene is over or transitions
  • Some typos

The v1.0.2 bugfix update

Included in this update are a fix for a softlock in chapter 7 and the addition of an important scene near the end of chapter 15. There are also a few fixes for lesser bugs such as tileset clipping and skill-related bugs.
We have pushed the update for the Windows build of the game first, but it will come to Mac as well very soon.

We are happy to see that the game has had such a positive reception, and we hope to keep improving on it with bigger updates in the future!
