Dieselpunk Wars nearly finished, backer rewards, and a redesigned tutorial
Greetings! It's been a long time since our last update and we apologize for the prolonged silence. Nevertheless, we prepared an awesome new update to bring you all back to speed!
First of all, we know that you're all waiting for a release date announcement. Dieselpunk Wars has been in production for a long time now and it's almost time we share it with the world. We're very eager to let our players get their hands on our game! As such, we plan to announce the release date in the next update, not too long from now!
This might seem like a cautious approach on our part but it's all for the good of the player. We need to make sure that there are as little bugs as possible for the official release. We've all worked very hard on this game and we don't want any issues to spoil your fun. Last week alone we fixed over 130 bugs! That is an incredibly high number and we're going to keep this pace up until we're ready for launch.
There is another thing we need to discuss in regards to backer rewards and backer surveys. So far, we haven't received many responses to our surveys and even fewer people answered our emails about their specific custom-made in-game rewards. If you haven't heard from us and need to discuss your rewards, please email us at kontakt@imagepower.pl and we'll answer any questions you may have. Please note that this is only relevant for people with custom-made rewards, such as their own vehicle in the game. If you answered all questions via the survey and didn't need to send us additional files, then all is good and your name is in the game!
Speaking of rewards, take a look at one of the vehicles we created for our backers:
Finally, let's discuss the tutorial. We've heard the complaints some people had in regards to the tutorial you currently see in Dieselpunk Wars Prologue and we listened! As a result, we completely redesigned the tutorial and changed its format. The new tutorial is split into several different lessons and you can play them out in any order you want. So there's no need to learn about camera controls if you only want to learn more about making an aerodynamic vehicle.
We want to add this new tutorial to Dieselpunk Wars Prologue as soon as possible, alongside dozens of other fixes and improvements. However, we have to prioritize QA above everything else so for now we'll simply continue fixing bugs and polishing our game. Only once it's almost ready for release, we will update the Prologue with a new, fancy tutorial!
As always, a huge THANK YOU for your support over the past few months. You're all amazing and can't wait to share our game with you! This is the final stretch before release and the full version of Dieselpunk Wars will soon be here!
Thanks for reading and keep an eye out for our next update! In the meantime, consider joining our official Discord channel to meet with other Dieselpunk enthusiasts!
A game doesn’t exist without its players; they are one of the most crucial elements, especially when it comes to titles that are creatively engaging. We’ve designed a game which we want to be intriguing from two perspectives - creative- and gameplay-wise, so that players can boost each other with new ideas and positive energy.
Our goal was to create a huge community and even though we’re still at the beginning of our journey, we can proudly say that we have already succeeded. However, it’s not only about numbers; we’re mostly focused on having a committed team of players that we can work with and get feedback from. This way we’re creating a bond between us - the creators and them - the players, making the game something we get involved in together, rather than just a digital product we sell.
From the very beginning, Dieselpunk Wars was focused on giving players the freedom of choice. We started with an idea of a sandbox game, which later evolved and developed additional modes, such as single player campaign. Nonetheless, our main goal was to unleash the inner engineers within players and help them use their imagination to build one-of-a-kind war machines, which will then fight each other in extraordinary battles.
We love the projects made by our players. Every time they convince us that the path we chose is right and we gave them exactly what they needed to enjoy the game. We are in constant contact with our community, so we’re trying to respond to all of their ideas and needs to make our game better. For example, back in one of the earliest builds you couldn’t place weapons on the bottom of your vehicle. However - one of the users created a war machine that had cannons on top, but it was able to turn itself upside down. This inspired us to add a mounting which now allows to attach bottom artillery and at the same time proves that we created a game without impossible things.
Two heads are better than one, they say. That’s why we listen to our players and use their in-game experience in order to improve Dieselpunk Wars. We’ve been following this rule since the launch of our Kickstarter campaign and even took the cooperation with players to another level. Some of our backers - people interested in the concept of the game who wanted to get involved at the earliest stage of the production - were given a unique opportunity. They received a chance to design a particular in-game module, an entire vehicle or even a map that will later be used for battles. It was our way of expressing gratitude and thanking them for their trust.
Dieselpunk Wars is not only a game. It’s a close community, full of creative and imaginative people, willing to devote their time to building something unusual. Making such a game is a wonderful experience for us, because we know we’re creating something that’s not only enjoyable and entertaining, but also forming a bond between people. We’re not just selling them our product, we’re supporting each other. They help us make a better game and in return we provide them with a product that gives them a lot of fun.
We’re not stopping here! We just kicked off an event called #DieselpunkCommunity. Every Tuesday we will share your builds and show them to the rest of the Dieselpunk Wars Community. We’d love to see what you have created! Read more about #DieselpunkCommunity here: Dieselpunk Community. Have fun building!

Dieselpunk Wars on Steam Game Festival
Construct vehicles that ride on the ground, soar through the skies, or dive underwater - this is Dieselpunk Wars.
Our demo includes two tutorials - one for controlling your vehicle and one for constructing a new vessel. It also includes a number of sample side-quests, as well as yellow, orange, and red spawn markers - enter them and a wave of enemies will spawn and try to destroy your creation! Finally, you can spawn a new enemy at any time by pressing the F2 button.
Be creative!
This demo contains over 140 parts, each with advanced physics simulation. Each part has an effect on air drag, maneuverability, or buoyancy. Shots can ricochet when impacting armor at a specific angle. You can construct elaborate machines, let the AI control them, and watch how they perform! Or better yet, use the Photo Mode (F3) to take breathtaking pictures of the action!
Due to technical constraints, this demo doesn't support cloud saves, achievements, or Steam Workshop but the full game will! The full game will also include more game modes (including a campaign), additional maps, and a ton of extra parts.
Look forward to our full release and add Dieselpunk Wars to your wishlist!

What is dieselpunk? Why did we choose this setting?
People tend to imagine alternate realities - probably because we like to ask the “what if” question too much. We’re creating worlds where history changed its course, where peculiar breakthroughs happened, where different decisions were made. The worldbuilding is limited only by our own imagination. It’s also the most appreciated part of fantasy universes and the reason why so many “-punk” worlds exist nowadays. There are multiple ways of creating environments which are significantly distinctive from the reality we all know and every single one of them is extraordinary.
Choosing a proper background for a game is a hard, but important decision to make. It will not only define all of the visible elements, like design, assets or the environment. It will also have a major impact on each of the in-game mechanics and rules that help keep the whole product believable and logical. There must be a reason to set a game in a specific setting - otherwise it won’t be entertaining enough.
Dieselpunk world is an incredibly interesting vision. It’s a concept of an alternate dimension, where the forties never ended and technology improved way faster. The overall atmosphere remained gloomy and the fear of war was still growing. However, even though it's full of worrying conflicts, the need of progress has led to the development of technology, which gave the society much more possibilities. This makes the people of dieselpunk full of hope for a better tomorrow.
During the early development of Dieselpunk Wars we were mostly thinking about proper aesthetics. Something that will not only go with the concept of fighting machines but what will also make them more interesting and unique, since the vehicles sent into battles are going to be built by players themselves. Following gaming trends and newest releases we discovered that not many titles follow the idea of a setting, where machinery and creativity join together to form a progressive world. Where past meets future, modern technologies meet dirt, most of the machines are used in wars. Suddenly we realized that we had exactly what we needed. What could be better for a military game than a world dominated by combat vehicles? Vehicles that players can build themselves!
Our main goal was to give players the possibility to create their own designs: land-, air- and water-based. Since the dieselpunk era is way ahead of our world, when it comes to technology, we knew that the potential results of constructions can be really surprising. Not only because of the design itself, but also because of the functionality on the battlefield. No other era uses progress in such an innovative and surprising way. We know that players’ creativity will exceed all of our daring expectations and we cannot wait to see their creations!
Dieselpunk is definitely one of our favourite settings. We love seeing how people’s imagination builds up and materializes in even the wildest visions, which seemed improbable in the beginning. We wanted to provide the best possible environment for this and dieselpunk seemed like a perfect fit. Our greatest hope is that our game will make even more people fell in love with this setting and what is has to offer.
All languages implemented, Steam Workshop hotfix, and backer surveys sent
We like to keep you on your toes so we prepared a new update for you!
First of all, great news to everyone who struggles with English and wanted to see their game translated to their native language! We finally implemented all remaining translations for Dieselpunk Wars Prologue and now you can enjoy our game in German, French, and simplified Chinese! This brings the total of supported languages to seven, not a bad number!
In other news, we prepared a small hotfix for everyone playing Dieselpunk Wars Prologue. While this list of changes might not look as impressive as the last one, you have to take into account that we're currently hard at work on Dieselpunk Wars' campaign. Don't worry, we'll continue supporting the Prologue as well as we can and you can expect larger patches once we have more time available! Here are the patch notes:
Improvements: - Added language support for German, French, and simplified Chinese. - Tweaked popout background to improve readability. - You can now update your Steam Workshop vehicles instead of having to upload new versions as separate files.
Fixes: - Fixed the "Cut through the waves" achievement which wasn't awarded correctly.
Finally, we have one more news for you, although you might already be aware of it - we recently sent out backer surveys to all of our Kickstarter backers! Make sure you check your emails, specifically the one connected to your Kickstarter account. Take a look at the spam folder if you don't see the survey and contact us if it doesn't arrive within the next few days.
Thank you for your continuous support! We'll do our best so that Dieselpunk Wars can live up to your expectations! Check out the Prologue version if you haven't already, as some great vehicles have already been constructed over there! We'll leave you with a little teaser of what one of our players has made ;)
New patch, progress on the campaign, and backer surveys
Hello there, we prepared a new update for you!
Dieselpunk Wars Prologue launched last week and now everybody can give it a shot! We learned a lot from that and we would like to thank everybody who posted their feedback or Steam reviews! Thanks to your aid we now know exactly what we need to focus on before the full version of Dieselpunk Wars launches. We already started working on incorporating your feedback into both, the full game and the Prologue. As a result, we have a new patch ready for you!
Improvements:
Added additional quick selection bars to the module panel at the bottom of the screen - you can now toggle between four separate panels and assign different parts to each of them!
Small tweak to vehicle maneuverability, in preparation for future improvements.
You can now rotate blocks using the < and > keys (in addition to the mouse wheel).
Fixes:
Added missing lines of text in the Russian translation.
Fixed an issue where English translation would sometimes appear instead of the Russian translation.
Camera will no longer move when you type something into the search bar in Build Mode.
Mouse cursor should no longer display when moving the camera in Photo Mode (F11).
Vehicles can now properly aim and fire at targets above them.
Other:
We removed the option to change the game language from the main menu due to the numerous issues it caused. You can still set your language via the properties on Steam. Simply right-click on the game in your Steam library, select properties, go to the "Language" tab, and choose the language you want to use.
As for what else is happening in our studio - our team is now focused on finishing the campaign, balancing individual modules, and designing enemy vehicles for the player to face. It's a lot of tedious work but it's nothing we can't handle! We're also working on the behavior of enemy bosses and the way they appear in the cutscenes. We don't want to spoil anything but we might as well show you concept art for one of the most important vehicles in the game.
Finally, you might be wondering about your backer rewards. Don't worry, we will send you backer surveys regarding your rewards within the coming days! Some of the rewards are already worked on but we will need your input to implement the rest of them. We will also use these surveys to gather your names (or nicknames) to add to the game's credits. So keep an eye out for any new messages you receive!
That's everything for this update. We hope you're doing well! Good luck in your gaming adventures and remember to give Dieselpunk Wars Prologue a try if you haven't done so already ;)
Welcome back! Time for a new update - it's a good one!
Dieselpunk Wars Prologue launches today at 6 pm CEST (or 9 am PST)! Chances are, that by the time you read this update, the Prologue is already out, so head over to its Steam page right away and start downloading! Don't worry, you can read the rest of this post while waiting for the download to finish ;)
As explained in the last post, Dieselpunk Wars Prologue is a free version of Dieselpunk Wars - with all of its great gameplay mechanics, advanced physics system, and a sandbox mode. There are also no microtransactions that could interrupt you when you cut enemy vehicles in half.
Compared to the Kickstarter-exclusive demo, the Prologue has a ton of improvements, ranging from gameplay improvements to UI and texture updates. We covered the UI changes already so let's take a look at what we did with vehicle textures. Take a look at the image below:
We will continue updating textures after the Prologue is launched and make sure that every module has the highest quality. This is also true for any other gameplay elements that might need improvements - we will continue looking for areas of the game that need extra polish and we will gradually fix anything that might have slipped past our bug net.
We're also going to add more languages to Dieselpunk Wars Prologue after its release. So far we implemented English, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, but once the translations are all finished, you will also be able to play Dieselpunk Wars Prologue in French, German, Polish, and simplified Chinese! Not a bad lineup!
So what do you need to do to play the Prologue? It's simple! Just head over to its Steam store page and download the game (if it's released). If you backed us on Kickstarter, your demo versions will update automatically but we strongly recommend downloading the Prologue! It has several improvements that we couldn't add to the old demo version, such as Steam achievements or Workshop support.
Thank you for your continuous support! We hope that you will enjoy Dieselpunk Wars Prologue. Feel free to join our official Discord server if you want to chat with us or with your fellow players. And if you like the Prologue - please tell your friends about it and remember to add the full version of Dieselpunk Wars to your wishlist!
Dieselpunk Wars Prologue on steam, UI nearly finished, new main menu
Greetings! We hope that everybody's doing okay. We have an exciting new update for you!
First of all, we have some big and exciting news to share! After a series of internal discussions, we decided to publish a demo version of Dieselpunk Wars early! Our original plan was to make it available on Steam at the same time as the full version of the game. But after reworking the tutorial and retrofitting our user interface, we realized that there is little to no reason to wait any longer.
How can you play the new, updated demo? Well, it's not out just yet - we will release it on the 20th of April. If you're a backer, your Kickstarter demo should automatically download via Steam. Otherwise, you should head over to a brand new Steam page for Dieselpunk Wars: Prologue! Yes, that was a link, click it, you know you want to.
What can you expect from Dieselpunk Wars: Prologue? It's the same as our demo but better. The same core features that you enjoyed are still in the game. Our physics engine is still very advanced, able to track every projectile, calculate its trajectory, and even make it ricochet if it impacts armor from the right angle. Vehicles can still be cut in half, set on fire, flooded, or crushed. All that good stuff is there and it's free - with no microtransactions what so ever.
As for improvements - Dieselpunk Wars: Prologue will have a number of bugs fixed, a cleaner UI, and a cooler main menu. Let's talk a bit about them.
Our new UI is already functional and ready for its official reveal! As you can see, we reduced the screen space occupied by the UI by a fair bit. It should be a lot less invasive now. You also have an option to hide unnecessary panels to free up even more space. This should be a lot less confusing for new players and it will hopefully reduce the time you need to learn the controls.
Looking for new parts has never been easier. We added a lot of new categories so you don't need to scroll through an endless list of parts to find the one you need. Additionally, you now have a small panel where you can assign the parts that you want to use. It's less messy this way and it frees up a lot of valuable screen space. There are still some small tweaks that we need to do but we're happy with this new UI and we can't wait to hear your feedback.
We also took a look at our main menu. First impressions are very important after all and we didn't feel like the old menu was good enough. It needed more action and a better overall aesthetic. So we changed some things and added a new background full of explosions. You can take a sneak peek of the new menu below:
That's everything for now! To summarize: we improved our demo and will release it on the 20th of April for free on a separate Steam page. Kickstarter backers don't have to swap to a new version but we encourage everybody to do so, since Dieselpunk Wars: Prologue will support Steam achievements and workshop - something our Kickstarter demo can't do.
Thank you for supporting us and staying by our side! We wish everyone to stay safe. Take care and let's meet again when we post another update!
