Dinosaurs Prehistoric Survivors

A New Beginning

Hi everyone,

Happy Lunar New Years! We would like to share with you a sneak peek of the future of our developments and current project we are working on, so lets get started!

Exhibition Standalone

Having worked on Dinosaurs Prehistoric Survivors and Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure we have created a lot of dinosaur models. And our models, although has some artistic liberties to them, are still based on real world findings which make them hold some educational values. Because of this we have drafted a standalone Exhibition using our dinosaurs.

Currently this is still a rough concept and we will keep you updated as development progresses. This will be our side project that will accompany our main project moving forward.

The Main Project

And now to get to something a little bit more exciting. Over the past year we have been experimenting and developing a new dinosaur game.

We can't say much about this game as of now, however, this game will be unlike any other dinosaur game on the market at the moment and will offer a combat system that is very different than what we are accustomed to with games of this genre.

We are currently developing this game using Unity 2021 and the status of this game is still early in development, however we have managed to wrap up the core systems for the game and we are excited to finally prep for its reveal in Q1 2023.

More updates coming soon!

Survivor Mode Exhibition Update (V.1.3.0.1) LIVE!

Hi everyone,
The Survivor Mode Exhibition Update (V. 1.3.0.1) is now LIVE! This update introduces the exhibition and free roam section to the Survivor Mode where players can play and roam around as every dinosaur in the Survivor Mode.

As usual, we will only highlight the major elements that we've worked on so lets get started:

  • Added Exhibition Section (Dinosaurs Information) to the Survivor Mode Character Selection Scene
  • Implemented Playable Map (Exhibition Map) for Survivor Mode Exhibition Section
  • Integrated all Dinosaurs (except for marine and flying reptiles) in Survivor Mode to become playable in the new Exhibition Map
  • Increased Speed for all dinosaurs in the Exhibition Map
  • Lower Stamina Depletion rate for all dinosaurs in the Exhibition Map. This will enable players to freely run throughout the map without worry of exhaustion (stamina depletion).

Note:
You may need to restart Steam for the update to take into effect

Dev Note:
As mentioned in the previous post, the dinosaurs for the Survivor Mode are made to suit a more linear setting compared to an open world setting. And upon working on this, it becomes very clear that we would need to do a substantial overhaul in order for the Survivor Mode dinosaurs, in particularly the AI and combat, to work properly in an open world setting. Because of this we have decided to shift the free roam area from an open world to a linear map much attuned with the rest of Survivor Mode regions. The map that we used for the free roam is one of the very first maps that we've created for the Survivor Mode to which we have made further improvements and optimizations.

That’s currently it for this post and thank you so much for your support. More info coming soon.

Exhibition Update Info

Hi everyone,
We would like to share some of the things we’ve been working on for the game. So lets get started.

Exhibition Mode

The first element we’ve been working on is an Exhibition Mode for the Survival Mode portion of the game. The Exhibition Mode is a mode where players could get more information about the dinosaurs available in the game.

Aside from giving information for each dinosaur, we would also like players to be able to play as the dinosaurs they’ve viewed in the Exhibition Mode. Because of this we’ve decided to integrate a new Free Roam Map for players to explore.

New Free Roam Map

An additional Free Roam Map is currently in the works that would enable players to play Survivor Mode dinosaurs in a more open world setting.

It must be noted that the Survivor Mode dinosaurs were made to suit a more linear environment, therefore, several elements must be adjusted in order for them to fit an open world setting.

Because of this, the new Free Roam Map will most likely not be available in the next update and instead will be made available in a later update.

That’s currently it for this post. Be sure to follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our Youtube channel to not miss out on updates and information about future projects.

Thank you so much for your support, and more updates coming soon.

Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure 2

Hi everyone
We have a very exciting news, Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure 2 is now available on steam!

Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure 2 is an Action-RPG that builds upon its predecessor with 30 playable dinosaurs, numerous unlockable skins, customizable RPG elements, and a variety of regions to explore. At its core, Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure 2 is geared for players who prefer a more casual and lean back experience.

What's Next

With the release of Dinosaurs A Prehistoric Adventure 2, we would also like to address what's next for us in terms of development.

As we all know, the multiplayer survival genre for dinosaur games in particular is getting extremely crowded. And although we do see the appeal, we strive to make something different and unique without disregarding player interest. Because of this we have decided to work on smaller projects so that we may test the waters as to what may or may not work in order to better allocate our resources. Currently, we have another small project that is currently in the works and we will share more details about this when its more fleshed out.

Thank you so much for your support, and more updates coming soon.

Post Release Info 2: Winter Update

Hi everyone,

Over the past few weeks we have been hard at work for our upcoming Winter update that is scheduled to go live later this year. So lets get started.

Survivor Mode Winter Map

One of the things we have been working on is an additional map for the Survivor Mode portion of the game. This map will be winter themed and will feature the Tarbosaurus as a playable character. So far, both the map and the Tarbosaurus have been integrated in, and we are now in the polishing stages of development for this region.

Fixes and Improvements

Aside from working on a new map for the Survivor Mode, we have also made several fixes and improvements to the game in order for players to achieve a better gameplay experience.

The first major fix is regarding animations and sound. So far all dinosaur locomotion animations have been either improved or remade and the majority of attacks and reaction animations have also been revised. These animations have been integrated into the game and is now in the testing phase of development as we needed to make sure that all components such as animations, actions, and sound are in sync with one another.

Aside from animations we have also made minor adjustments to missions and objectives for the Arcade Mode. Now the player HUD will properly inform the player of active objectives.

Experimental Features

During development we have made several experiments over features that we think would enhance the experience of the game. One of the things we have been experimenting on is Controller support. This feature is still in its early stages and due to the game not being built with proper controller support in mind, there may be unseen challenges that we need to overcome. However, so far, we have been able to integrate controller support for the Survivor Mode portion of the game and we are excited to share this information with you.

Post Release Info: Winter Update

Hi everyone,

Over the past couple of weeks we've been working on an update that would improve the quality and performance of the game. Aside from this, we're also working on additional content to the Survivor Mode portion of the game. So lets get started!

The Improvements

With the game being fully released, we’ve managed to acquire more feedback regarding the game and in particular, elements that needed to be improved.

Based on the feedback we’ve received, its clear that the animation and sound of the dinosaurs need to be improved. Because of this we’ve decided to do an animation and sound overhaul for all of our dinosaurs, especially for quadrupeds as they are the ones that needed major animation and sound overhaul.

Aside from animations and sound, we've also worked on other aspects that would improve the game such as better AI responses and optimization for better overall performance.

Additional content

Aside from working on these improvements, we've also decided to add an additional content for the Survival Mode portion of the game to go with this update.

The first is an easy mode that would enable players to explore the map with minimal penalties. This Mild Play option will become available when the player has completed the Survivor Mode.

Aside from an easy mode we are also working on a new map and playable dinosaur for the Survivor Mode. This new map will be winter themed and will feature the Tarbosaurus as its main playable dinosaur.

Unlike other dinosaurs in the Survivor Mode, which are small to medium sized dinosaurs, the Tarbosaurus is going to be the largest playable dinosaur for this mode. Because of this, players can expect a whole new experience with this dinosaur as it will interact differently with other dinosaurs and will also be faced will more challenges compared with other dinosaurs in this mode.

That’s currently it for this post, we are currently working on implementing this updates and if everything goes accordingly this update will be live in winter time of this year.

Thank you so much for your support and more updates coming soon!

Devlog 26 - Final

Hi everyone,

We have a very exciting news, Dinosaurs Prehistoric Survivors will soon be out of early access and be fully released! With that said, lets get started.

Out of Early Access

Over the past few months we are able to successfully integrate much of the core elements needed for the game, this includes the survivor mode and other gameplay fixes. And although some elements were omitted and some were changed, such as the home base and squad mechanic, we believe that the integration of the survivor mode has made the game feature complete, therefore we have decided to no longer prolong the game through early access and instead fulfil our promise by releasing the game, which will take place alongside the new upcoming update, the Full Release Update - V.1.0.0.2.

Thank you

Hi everyone, lead dev here. I wanted to tell you guys this personally and say thank you for making all of this possible. Without your support, I would have never gone remotely close to getting the game where it is right now, and I am truly grateful for the trust and opportunity you all have given me. Its not perfect, and the game will still be updated after release, but at the very least it has come to a place where I feel it is good enough.

I hope that a lot of you would enjoy the game, especially the survivor mode, as it has a lot of new gameplay elements that I feel best experienced hands on than told here in this devlog.

And that’s currently it for this devlog and make sure to keep an eye out for the game as it will transition to full release very soon.

Devlog 25

Hi everyone,
Since our last update we’ve been focusing much of our attention to further the development of the Survivor Mode and we would like to share some of the progress we’ve made, so lets get started.

The Models

As mentioned in previous devlogs, the models for the Survivor Mode are made from the ground up in order to capture the more realistic tone and feel of this mode. Because of this we heavily used real world images as a source of inspiration during the creation of these models. This ranges from details to color themes and patterns, and other visual elements to make these models look unique and feel realistic.

Here is a list of our models for the Survivor Mode including some references we’ve used during the creation process.

Design Philosophy

Unlike the main campaign where the world is vibrant and large, the survivor mode is less vibrant and relatively small. This is because we wanted the survivor mode to give a more personal experience and the best way for us to do this is by using fewer assets that are geared to building a world that would tell a story through its atmosphere.

Aside from the difference in scale and atmosphere, we also wanted this mode to be extremely user friendly. This means that this mode is designed to have a low learning curve so that players would not be obligated to learn complicated elements and can simply jump in and play the game without a hassle.

That’s currently it for this devlog, and more updates coming soon.
