Welcome a new friend!

It seems like someone has spun messages around Kristoff’s home – although, he isn’t quite sure how to decipher them. The perfect task for the hero of the Valley (that’s you!) and the master of all things frightful (that’ll be Jack) – you’ll soon weave a way to welcoming a new Villager… but whom?

Just in time for the winter holiday season, but with more delights than Jack Skellington’s frights, Sally from Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas joins the Valley! The sky’s the limit with Floating Islands!

Hey Valley Villagers!

While we are sure you’re busy discovering every nook and cranny of the Storybook Vale, additional exciting areas are soon to arrive for all Disney Dreamlight Valley players as a part of our December 4 Sew Delightful update – Floating Islands!

Featured in our 2024 Showcase Stream, you may have first noticed these islands floating in the skies above the Valley – inaccessible – until now!

Once you’ve completed the main story quest “What’s Left Behind”, check in with the Valley’s resident prognosticator Merlin, who has been researching the magical calculations required to connect the Wishing Wells found in each biome to those residing on the Floating Islands – starting off the quest “Islands in the Sky”.

Using a Wishing Well, or the Map Fast Travel Menu, you can access the first of these islands – themed after the Plaza! It seems like in addition to discovering a new space to practice your decorating skills, Merlin too has found an opportunity to move the Dreamlight Library to somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of the Valley…

After you’ve helped him out – the Plaza Floating Island becomes available to make your own – along with the 3 other islands, based off of some of the Valley’s other Biomes. Additional Floating Islands may be added in future updates – so stay tuned!

Using the Map Fast Travel Menu will allow you to unlock these additional islands, each costing 15,000 Dreamlight. With the exception of a Wishing Well, each features roughly 65x65 squares of decorating space – providing you with a blank canvas to express yourself! Each Floating Island also hosts its own decorating island limit – freeing up space in the Valley for additional decorations.

Will you house all your Villains on an island to keep an eye on them, or perhaps move your Avatar’s home, creating your personal paradise? The decision is yours, but, you won’t be alone! Your Villagers can be found visiting the Floating Islands, and players participating in a Valley Visit with you can also take in the sights of your island creations.

The Floating Islands feature will arrive for all players as a part of the Sew Delightful update, launching on December 4th. We can’t wait to see what you create with each new island canvas!

See you in the Valley (and on a Floating Island)!

Adventure Awaits in Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale Part 1!

Welcome, Valley Villagers… to the Storybook Vale!

It’s time to crack open the latest chapter of Disney Dreamlight Valley and make use of your Stardust Port once again—this time transporting you to an enchanted land where myths and fairytales spring to life.

A New Chapter to Unfurl

Once upon a time, the Storybook Vale existed in the skies above the Valley but was stolen away by Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and Hades from Disney’s Hercules. While they ruled peacefully for a time, conflict between the two marred the very fabric of the lands they ruled—causing ink to spill from the ground!

Whether you’ve foiled Jafar’s schemes in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time or have triumphed over the events of the Forgetting in Disney Dreamlight Valley—adventures await for all landing on the Vale’s shores. After you’ve gathered your Royal Tools from the Valley, a letter will arrive in your in-game mailbox from the mysterious Lorekeeper, requesting your aid. Of course, you’ll need the means to get there. If you’ve yet to discover the Stardust Port, your friend Merlin should be willing to lend a helping hand.

A Surprising New Friend…

Disembarking from your enchanted transportation, you’ll find yourself in front of a large library; though, it has certainly seen more "happily ever after" days—this first impression reinforced by inky obstructions barring your path in every direction. As you make your way inland, you’ll finally meet up face-to-face with the author of the invitation you received—though, "face" is used a little loosely here.

An enchanted book, the Lorekeeper, has acted as a caretaker for these lands—holding them together with the magic found within her pages. While she once safeguarded the stories that inspired the world around her, the discord between the Vale’s ruling villains scattered the stories to the wind in the form of Snippets—magicked origami creatures. The Snippets move in a variety of patterns, so if you want to restore the Lorekeeper’s stories, you’ll need to equip yourself with a new Royal Tool—unfortunately, your Royal Fishing Rod is not equipped for fly-fishing.

With a bit of ingenuity and help from another new friend you’ll meet along the way, you’ll discover the Royal Net close at hand, and then be set to catch all the varieties of Snippets you may encounter. By adding this Tool to your collection, you will also net yourself a new photo mode pose!

Piecing It All Together

Catching Snippets isn’t the only challenge you’ll be met with from the Lorekeeper’s pages—The Storybook Vale also introduces a new puzzle mini-game!

Collecting diverse Snippets in all shapes and colors will provide you with the pieces to unlock a variety of puzzles featuring the lore of the Vale, along with illustrations inspired by Disney and Pixar classics.

As you help the Lorekeeper reclaim her magic, each puzzle you complete will provide you with new decoration options to adorn the walls of your homes and buildings.

Old and New Friends

While the journey ahead may seem jarring, you’ll have plenty of help from old friends... and new!
With some of them bringing their Valley staples, such as Chez Remy and Goofy’s Stall, your Villagers from both the Valley and Eternity Isle can’t pass up the opportunity to visit! Scrooge McDuck will also provide a new location to capitalize on your adventures get you geared up for the adventures ahead with new clothing and furniture—available only through his Store in the Storybook Vale.

Speaking of new friends, Part 1 of the Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale Expansion Pass arrives with its own collection of Villagers who will join you:

  • Probably the only Villager to not be enamored by Snippets, Merida from Disney and Pixar’s Brave joins your quest early on in the Bind—lending her bravery and a helpful hand to kick-start your progress to mend the ruin caused by the seeping ink.
  • Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled also joins in—lending his quick wit to the aid of your quests, and perhaps some of his less-useful smolder. Of course, we adore a love story! Owners of Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time who have bolstered their friendship with Rapunzel will be able to reunite the two through additional quest content.
  • Perhaps the least-expected addition to your Villagers is Hades—once you’ve chilled his fiery temper. Just keep a cool head and try not to let him make you one of his minions.

Additional Villagers arrive for all The Storybook Vale Expansion Pass owners when Part 2 launches in 2025.

A World Brimming with Magic

Though you may be tempted to curl up with a good book upon landing in the Bind—trust us, there are books everywhere—there’s so much to explore in the Storybook Vale!

Consisting of three unique Biomes, the vibrant library port of the Bind is only the first area you’ll step foot in. Depending on which path you turn to first, the autumnal, book-filled crevices of the Bind transition to the golden fields of Mythopia or the lush mushroom-filled forest of Everafter.

Inspiration from each Biome lends itself to your decorating toolkit—enabling you to make yourself at home with new structures and plants in the Landscaping menu. Foodies can also delight with a treasure trove of new ingredients waiting to be found on land and in the rivers and pools of the Vale. Already full-up and looking for a new pal? Each Biome is also home to a unique critter in different color variations—all waiting to become your next animal companion!

Flora and fauna aren’t the only things you’ll find in each Biome—grab your Royal Camera and get ready to snap a pic in front of stunning landmarks inspired by your favorite Disney and Pixar stories! You’ll also uncover vast Trials for the adventure-focused… but we’ll leave it to you to uncover all that’s inside them.

Bonus Rewards for Early Adopters

Don’t hesitate to set out for the Vale right away—as a special bonus, early adopters of Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale who purchase and launch the game before November 30 at 23:59 PM ET will receive a message in their in-game mailbox containing a stunning collection of dark academia-themed clothing.

Under the guidance of the Lorekeeper, we can’t wait for you to journey to the Vale and meet heroes and villains who will bring epic trials to undertake, stories to reassemble, and friendships to recover.

See you in the Storybook Vale!

A new chapter unfurls in our next Expansion Pass

Launching on November 20th, part one of our next paid expansion, Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale, invites you to make use of your Stardust Port once again!

Be whisked away to the Vale and embark on an enchanting adventure with a cast of new characters including the Lorekeeper – a magical book holding this fantastical land together. However, a happily ever after is a ways off as you discover that discordance between two iconic Disney Villains - Maleficent from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and Hades from Disney’s Hercules, has torn this land apart.

Causing mysterious phenomenon across The Vale’s three biomes – the Bind, Everafter, and Mythopia – their conflict has yielded Ink seeping out of the very ground and sent the pages of the Lorekeeper near and far as enchanted page pieces called Snippets.

As you uncover its mysteries, part one of the Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Storybook Vale expansion pass will lead you to encounter the courageous Merida from Disney and Pixar’s Brave, the bold Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled, and the fiery Hades. Two additional characters will arrive in part two of the expansion pass when it releases later in 2025.

New friends aren’t the only thing you’re adding to your mystery-solving toolkit. You’ll also gain the advantage of a new tool – the Royal Net – that will enable you to capture the various Snippets that have escaped the Lorekeeper’s pages.

Discover the Jungle Getaway Update!

Hey, Valley Villagers!

We're returning to Disney's The Lion King Realm in our latest free update to welcome two NEW friends! Now live on all platforms, embark on a "Jungle Getaway" to discover the art of relaxation with a laid-back duo and rock out with thrilling rewards in the latest Star Path—The Night Show!

Plenty of other surprises await, from a limited-time collaboration to many top-requested features and quality-of-life updates. Read on to learn more!

Return to The Lion King Realm in the Light of Day!

First revealed in our Valley Vignette blog from earlier this year, two new Villagers arrive in this update—Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King!

As you return to their Realm, it seems like the stress of saving the Valley time and time again has taken its toll—with Timon declaring that you must learn the ways of hakuna matata! Of course, learning the art of relaxation isn't a one-step process, and you'll need to experience a few days and nights in the Realm. (Don't worry; time passes differently within!)

After you're sufficiently relaxed and have given your easygoing pals a hand with a sticky situation, they'll arrive in your Valley—bringing with them unique Quests, Friendship rewards, and aromas…? Continue the fun by helping them feel at home—which involves sorting out a "stinky" situation with Pumbaa and aiding Timon in cataloging the Valley's critters.

Get Ready to ROCK with a New Star Path!

Neon lights and pyrotechnic delights await you in this season's Star Path—The Night Show!

We're challenging you to build the stage of your dreams with furniture items featuring unique special effects such as neon, changing lights, fire, and more! Then, amp up your Avatar with rebellious clothing inspired by Disney Villains, Disney Princess characters, and of course, rock music.

This Star Path features a reduced number of rewards (reflected in a discounted Premium-tier cost and number of duties) as we build up to more content releases later this year—but don't let that fool you! It's full of rock-star-realness and high-quality collectibles! Make sure to complete it before it ends on November 27.

A Surprise Collaboration and More!

Loungefly backpacks are available now in the Valley! We're thrilled to share that we've collaborated with Loungefly, bringing multiple recreations of their statement-making backpacks to the Valley. Styles that you may already have in your personal collection can either be found in-game by completing The Night Show Star Path, as well as in the Premium Shop for a limited time. You can also redeem the code DDV2024OOOOO† in-game by November 20 at 9 am ET / 2 pm UTC to claim a Mickey BOO! Loungefly Backpack for your Avatar!

And don't forget to share a screenshot or fan art of your Avatar wearing one of the in-game Loungefly collaboration items for a chance to win one of six physical Halloween-themed bags in our Haunted Holiday Sweepstakes! Full sweepstakes details and rules here: https://gleam.io/1LFHa/haunted-holiday-sweepstakes

Scrooge McDuck gets new stock! Make sure to stop by Scrooge McDuck's Store for a chance to purchase additional furniture from Realms and Villager homes as they appear in daily stock rotations.

Premium Shop updates! New content arrives in weekly rotations, along with a recommendation system to help you collect items you may have missed.

In addition to the exciting new content coming to the Premium Shop this update, we are also adding a new Moonstone-pack option to the Moonstone menu in the Premium Shop. This pack will include both Moonstones and a seasonal Valley-inspired cosmetic item. It will be available for a limited time, and different seasonal Valley-inspired cosmetic items may be offered with future updates.

† Redemption code features both zeroes and the letter O: DDV20[One "ZERO"]24OOOOO[Five "LETTER O"].

Frightfully Delicious Treats Await!

The Trick-or-Treat event returns! From October 23 to 31, collect Candy Bowls that appear in the Plaza to gather green, purple, and red Candies. These sweets can be consumed or gifted to complete Event Duties—granting you seasonal rewards!

This year's event also brings with it a new craftable furniture item: Turn your event treats into Mickey's Halloween Candy Bowl! A crafting recipe will arrive in your in-game mailbox once the event starts.

Need the perfect Halloween costume? We've got you covered! All players can look forward to claiming an Evil Queen Costume FOR FREE from the Premium Shop as part of our seasonal festivities closer to Halloween. Keep an eye out on our social media and in-game for more news on its arrival!

Community-Driven Features

We want to extend a huge thanks to everyone who continues to participate in sharing their feedback on each and every update. Here are just a few of the highlights arriving in Jungle Getaway, inspired by players like you!

Customize the way you play! Arriving in this update are three additional options in the Settings menu in the Gameplay and Controls tabs. If you use a controller, check out the "New Edit Mode Controls" option to swap between editing playstyles, featuring a locked or free cursor.

The new "Use Alternative Sprint Button" allows you to use the newer Sprint button option that was introduced in our Dapper Delights update—or revert to the previous button option. Lastly, enabling the "Tap to Sprint" option will allow you to sprint by tapping your preferred sprint button option versus holding it.

Take to the air with new glider options! Get more use out of your favorite wing back accessories with a new glider option! All wings currently available in-game will be able to be worn as a glider accessory, replacing the "surfing" glider animation with a fluttering animation more befitting wings.

Never forget the task at hand with new tracking options for duties and crafting recipes, allowing them to appear instead of a Quest in the upper left portion of the screen.

Your Royal Tools become more useful with a new Photo Mode option, allowing your Avatar to hold a Royal Tool while snapping a pic! You'll be able to feature other handheld accessories as well, when equipped.

We can't wait to see how you enjoy diving into the Jungle Getaway update! Make sure to connect with us on our official social media accounts below and tag us in your in-game photos!

IMPROVEMENTS (AVAILABLE TO ALL PLAYERS):

CONTROLS:

  • Added a toggle to the Settings > Controls menu to select between two different camera control methods when using a gamepad in Edit Mode. Players will be able to select between an option that’s akin to the game’s original, free-flowing control style, or a new hybrid approach that locks the cursor to the center of the screen, while also giving the ability to move it freely by holding a button.
  • Please note: This control methods selection will apply to outdoor areas. Edit Mode while in the Player House will default to the original control style.
  • Added a toggle to the Settings > Controls menu to select between two different sprinting control methods when using a gamepad, allowing players to revert to the previous button mapping or use the updated button mapping (Left Bumper) introduced last update.
  • Added a toggle to the Settings > Gameplay menu to enable a “Tap to Sprint” control option, allowing players to start and stop sprinting at the press of a button without needing to hold it.
  • Added full support for wireless controllers on Steam without requiring Steam Input to be enabled. If you have not previously adjusted this option, the game will now default to "Built-In" support (our recommendation) and can be adjusted as needed in the Settings > Controls menu.

SCROOGE MCDUCK’S STORE:

  • Scrooge’s McDuck’s Store will now display furniture items in place of empty clothing mannequins, including in the window displays.

DREAMSNAPS & PHOTO MODE:

  • Added a “skip” button to the DreamSnaps voting screen, allowing players to skip up to 10 votes per day.
  • Added the ability for avatars to hold hand accessories (i.e. umbrellas) and Royal Tools while in Photo Mode.

PREMIUM SHOP:

  • Added a new “Recommended” section to the Premium Shop, which will feature four additional items or bundles each week. The contents of this section will differ from player to player, based on their Premium Shop interests.

OTHER:

  • Added the ability to equip wearable wings as a Glider in the Wardrobe. All wings currently available in the game will be equipable this way, replacing the “surfing” Glider animation with a fluttering animation more befitting of wings.
  • Added the ability to track your progress on individual Dreamlight Duties and Star Path Duties, as well as the collection of materials for crafting recipes via the on-screen Quest Tracker.
  • Various UI improvements were made to the Star Path menu.
