Dodge Dots

Hotfix #2 2022-08-10

Another issue, another small hotfix for you:

- spamming the "Restart" button no longer spawns the player multiple times

Hotfix: cumulative moves/points achievements

Back in March there were bug reports that the cumulative movement/points achievements didn't work properly. I did notice these bug reports and promised a fix but yeah ... this shouldn't have taken as long as it did. I can only apologize to everyone affected by the bug and hope that this update will let you finally complete the game.

There are two technical groups of achievements - the score per game ones which get resolved internally and work, and the cumulative ones that didn't work. This had to do with the overly convoluted way I was processing these stats - and the fact I didn't bother to fetch them from Steam so you more or less started at a random value. This was bad, and it's fixed now:

- your stats are fetched from Steam on every launch of the game
- stats are committed immediately after they change, but only pushed to the server every 30 seconds the game is running (doesn't need to be in-match, menus work too)

I have throughoutly tested this build and while the stats on the Steam page do not update in real time they will eventually catch up.

If anything does not work please tell me on the forums and I *will* fix it! No more delays!

Again, please accept my sincere apologies for this massive delay.

Update log 2022-03-10

This update includes the following:

Improvements

  • Added leaderboard display for the top 100. You can access it via the main menu.
  • Music now no longer restarts between scenes
  • Added fallback fonts for various asian languages.

The increased download size is due to the addition of the various asian language fonts which are quite large.

Update notes for 2022-03-08

Here's a small update:

Bug fixes

  • fixed several minor audio bugs in the main menu
  • added SFX to the skins menu

Items

  • demoted North Korea (Flags series) to uncommon (was Epic)
  • added two new items expressing solidarity with Ukraine. Both items will be added to your inventory automatically after starting the game.
  • added a new promo item for my upcoming game "Hidden Objects: Tranquil Valley"

Player skins are here!

With this update you can now collect and use different player skins. If you use a skin other than the default (white) one this will also be reflected on the new "players around me on the leaderboard" feature.

Skins need to be unlocked by getting Steam drops. You can get one skin per day for a play time of 15 minutes (minimum 30 seconds session time). In the first wave I've added 31 different skins in three series:

- Promo (from the DLC and for owning my other game "Kingdom of Assetia" on Steam, all legendary)
- Flags (different country flags, all uncommon except one)
- Modern Art (various skins inspired by modern arts pieces, rare and epic)

The promo skins will be automatically handed out after launching the game if you are eligible.

Skins can be managed on the new skins page from the main menu.

Quite honestly I have no clue if this was a good idea but I always wanted to implement more advanced Steam features and since the skins are completely optional ... why not?

This ties into the new "leaderboard around me" feature. While playing you'll see the player below and above your highscore and also the skin they've used if applicable. Of course only scores posted after the update have the required information posted to the leaderboards.

I've also fixed a small audio bug on the main menu.

Enjoy!

One bug fixed and better SFX

This update includes the following:

  • fixed a bug causing the pickup to spawn in the center most of the time
  • swapped out the old and creaky sound effects for better, less creaky ones

Hotfix: Score achievements not unlocking

This update should fix the highscore achievements not unlocking.

They should now also be unlocked retroactively if you already reached the respective score on the Steam leaderboards.

Day 0.1 update?!

Here's another pre-release update:

  • added a pause mode because the game actually didn't have one ... press P or (on Gamepad) Start to pause/unpause
  • added some rather nice music
  • expanded the options menu to also have a music volume slider. Makes sense.
