Monthly Challenge October 2024
Dorfromantik's monthly mode for October is: Small World!
This month, every Tile counts. Just as the days are getting shorter (in the northern hemisphere, at least), so does your playable area start shrinking to preserve the cozy warmth. We know that last month's Challenge was quite hard indeed, so we thought you'd enjoy something a little more relaxed for a change. ๐
All settings bar the World Size are default as well, so no nasty surprises there to ruin the relaxation!

Hey everybody! Earlier this year we announced our new project in collaboration with the wonderful birds of kurzgesagt โ in a nutshell. During Sundayโs PC Gaming Show we finally lifted the veil of secrecy and revealed the gameโs name and more general information!
โจ Whatโs Star Birds about?
Star Birds will, similarly to Dorfromantik, offer a fresh and accessible approach to a well-established genre: Base Building and Automation!
In the game, you will support the titular Star Birds on an important mission that is taking them across the vastness of space. Help them gather resources to continue their journey by mining asteroids and establishing thriving mining operations, take care of the growing Needs of your spacefaring colony, and discover new technologies to advance their operation even further. With a little luck, you might just uncover some truly out-of-this-world mysteriesโฆ
๐ฎ What will the gameplay look like?
Disclaimer: Everything mentioned is considered in development and not final. Expect things to change.
Scan nearby asteroids and deploy a rover to explore them to uncover hidden resources, ranging from staples like metals to some rather obscure, but no less important things the Star Birds just can not live without! Build production facilities to mine these resources and automate the manufacturing of increasingly advanced goods, send them to your Space Station to satisfy the needs of your Star Birds, no matter how odd they might be. Establish trading routes to create a bustling cosmic production network and ultimately take off for foreign star systems to pursue the mysteries of your galaxy!

As you know, every month equals a new Monthly Challenge in Dorfromantik.
This month, we have an exciting twist on the games' rules and tile generation algorithm - every quest tile now has a flag on it, so you have the chance to build and plan for INSANE point combos!! Will you build the biggest group ever with heaps of flags and close it off to cash in huge amounts of points? Beat the Flag Mania highscore! Try it out and post your scores!

Announcing Project Mango

We are happy to announce our second title, "Project Mango" (working title). We are developing this all-new game in close cooperation with kurzgesagt - in a nutshell, which many of you might know from Youtube.
In the same vein as Dorfromantik, Project Mango will offer a fresh and accessible approach to an established genre, and players can expect a similarly colorful and cheerful style - with some tongue-in-cheek undertones akin to kurzgesagt's curiosity-sparking videos. Project Mango will be set in space and offer fun and unique building mechanics.
