Creative Showcase - Halloween Hocus Pocus

The Showcase Announcement!

For this Creative Showcase, the Theme is Halloween Hocus Pocus!
Whether it is Sleepy Hollow, the local pumpkin patch or your favourite Halloween Horror Hero (Villain?) we want to see your creativity spark the spookiest ideas!
The Showcase will run until 2023-11-14 2359 CEST.

We welcome all submissions from across all platforms. We ask, however, that you take your Submission Screenshots with the UI disabled. To hide your UI, press TAB on your Keyboard or the SELECT button or equivalent on your controller. Submissions are preferably posted as .png files.

Participation

To participate you need to JOIN OUR DISCORD first of all. Same if you'd like to vote.
For a submission to be valid the following stipulations have to be fulfilled:

YOU need to be the author of the submission
A Submission is required to HIDE THE UI (TAB on KB/M, SELECT on Controller)
A submission has to be an unedited Screenshot, preferably in .png file format.

BY SUBMITTING A SCREENSHOT TO A CREATIVE SHOWCASE, YOU ALLOW US TO USE YOUR SUBMISSION FOR MARKETING PURPOSES WITHOUT CREDITING YOU AS THE AUTHOR.
(Note that we try to credit where possible but is sadly isn't always possible)

How does it work?

The Creative Showcase will be held on Discord only!
We will post announcements whenever we hold Showcases and will share the results everywhere, but participation and voting may only occur on Discord as that makes it easier for us!

Speaking of Voting, we have revamped how we handle Voting for Showcases massively:

You may cast as many votes as you'd like
There are four categories of Votes now
Voting will be available all through the Submission phase!

You will now be able to cast four different kinds of Votes as well, each pertaining to a different kind of "Liking" a submission. The different kinds of Votes are:

👍 ENJOY
- This is your 'basic' vote. You 'enjoy', or 'like', that submission.
🎨 ARTSY
- Artsy is used to highlight submissions which you think represent interesting interpretations of the Theme.
🤯 MINDBLOWING
- Found a Submission you think goes above and beyond? Remember the Dragon Island of the Showcases of old? Yup, those are Mindblowing!
😆 FUNNY
- The Submission made you chuckle? you are obligated to vote it as FUNNY!

Themes will be selected from a pool that we will happily add suggestions to, and once the pool is empty we'll start to recycle them, should we get to that point. We are also going to experiment with 'Modifiers' like restricting shape and size of your submissions (Think our Dioramas for reference), as well as other fun things!

Although we'd love to have more vacation time, summer is slowly waning; School is starting up again, and we are closing in on holiday season quickly!
September's Monthly Challenge will have you become industrious little bees - There are no trees, but everything else is dialed up, difficulty included!

Heeeey everyone!

We are back after fumbling the announcement last month due to Social Media turning into a dumpster fire. Sorry about that! (The fumbling, that is. We didn't start the fire, it was always burning since the Social Media world's been turning.)

August's Monthly Mode is all about cool, fresh water. Will your wetlands be the biggest, wettest wetlands in the competition? You will also find that Quests are slightly harder than usual, but that won't make you sweat - The weather already took care of that after all! ;)

Simfest 2023 begins today and Dorfromantik is part of it!

We are thrilled to announce that Dorfromanrik will be part of Simfest – the Steam festival celebrating all things related to simulation games.
From today through the 24th of July, 10am PDT 2023, you will be able to experience some of the latest and greatest simulation titles, in addition to what the future holds for the simulation genre with other coming soon games. From simulators which cover hobbies you would love to experience to job simulators which revolve around your dream career (even out of this world ones), Simfest will feature a wide variety of titles in the genre.

Dorfromantik - The Boardgame wins "Spiel Des Jahres" Award

Dorfromantik - The Boardgame continues the award-winning streak of its digital counterpart!

We are super happy to report that our Boardgame partners, authors Michael Palm, Lukas Zach, and publisher Pegasus Spiele have gone and done it!
For the first time a board game adaptation of a video game has won the coveted "Spiel des Jahres" Award, which is one of the most important awards in the board game sphere. Dorfromantik thus follows in the footsteps of well-known board games such as Settlers of Catan and Carcasonne.

What's Next?

So glad you asked! There is a bunch of stuff going to happen on the board game side of things! First of all, there will be a "Specialist Store" Edition, which is going to contain a Mini-Expansion "The big Mill" which comes with two new cards and a Mill display piece, in addition to the base game.
If you already own Dorfromantik - The Boardgame, no worries! The Mini-Expansion will be available stand-alone as well! Planned Release for these is in August (Though international releases may need a bit more time).

But that is not all! check this out!

Dorfromantik - The Duel will bring a competitive twist to your favourite board game! Vaguely based on Concepts like our Monthly Mode, two teams will play against each other with the same tiles, building their own little worlds, while trying to trump the other team's score! With two new kinds of Tasks in Double- and All-Around-Tasks, which can also be used in the base game, as well as two additional modules for additional Interaction and challenges, Dorfromantik has never been better on cardboard!
If you plan to visit the SPIEL board-game convention in Essen later this year, you better make sure to play it!

What about the video game?

We are cooking a lot of things right now. Some of it Dorfromantik-related, some not.
As we said in April, we are well-aware of your various requests, especially for additional platforms. We hope to have some exciting news for you at a later point in time this year. For now, let's celebrate the board game just a little bit, though. 😉

We hope you are all enjoying summer (Or winter, for you folks down under! 😉 ), just as we are! The Spiel des Jahres award ceremony is happening in less than three weeks and we're all super hyped for it, no matter the outcome! We will, of course, update you whether we won after the fact.
