it's been a while since the last update, but here's a new one, finally!
The full changelog can, as always, be seen at:
https://github.com/BSVino/DoubleAction/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md
Highlights:
- Steam rich presence - Now your friends can see when you're falling to your death!
- Korean translation - Thanks to 스팀유저!
- Map-end votes should actually do something now - unless there's a server mod interfering with it :/
- All melee is now lag-compensated - previously only fistpunch melee was lag-compensated, and only if you left-clicked.
- Fast Weapon Switch (hud_fastswitch) now works as intended - no more extra clicks!
I've been holding off publishing this update for a while, since I didn't have contact data for many of the servers' admins and was looking for way to trigger auto-update mechanisms that people might or might not have.
However, with the recent closure of a bunch of servers, that number is down to 1 server.
All other server owners have been notified about this update and will probably update their servers to the new version very soon.
On servers that haven't updated yet, there will be some issues with 3rd person crosshairs not pointing where they're shooting.
As a workaround until they update, switch to 1st person mode using the X key.
Servers not updated:
- RIVINS (partially)
- Tuijnenburg (notified)
- Facemask (no contact info, disappeared)
Double Action 1.3: I Said I'd Be Back!
What's this? A mini-map-emission for our most dedicated Boogalooers? Damn Straight.
Bring it in tight for the latest map from Doum - a prison-themed shoot-em-up in the vein of your favourite badass brawlers. With tight hallways to concentrate the boom boom and high ceilings to exacerbate the zoom zoom, this map is a welcome addition to the Double Action library. Test your mettle in the showers but don't drop the soap! You'll have some slow-mo floatin gun totin drop soapin action heroes vying for your weak spots. Keep your head on a swivel and don't spare the dribble because it's time for a good old fashioned rumble on the catwalk. DEAD MAN DIVIN!
Also included are translations submitted by our community's very own IZUMI WING - You would have seen that name taking top position on the scoreboards and now you can see it in CHINESE! Much thanks to our dedicated players for keeping the dream alive. We know it's been quiet on the western front but your dedication means the world to us. Keep it coming and don't stop diving!
This server-side patch fixes a rounding error in the vote tallying system, leading to votes failing unless there is no counter-vote.
Windows and Linux Steam clients will also automatically update the local server component. This update is not necessary in order to effectively participate in votes.
Sorry for taking so long to catch this :)
PS: Again with apologies to people hosting hands-off servers on a Mac, we're only releasing this bug fix for Windows and Linux. Mac users can still join v1.2.2.2 servers with v1.2.2.
Update: Looks like i briefly broke the server browser. Should be working now.
Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.2.1
This patch fixes a couple of bugs in the voting system.
On the client side, effective immediately when downloading this update, there are two changes:
Prevent situations where there is a preselected choice that you cannot change.
In the "Call vote" menu, entries used to be invisible when selected. This has been fixed.
On the server side, effective as soon as the server owner updates, there is
Tied multiple-choice votes are no longer decided in favor of the topmost choice, but treated as if not enough players had voted.
Onwards comrades, power to the people!
PS: With apologies to the Mac users among you, we're only releasing this bug fix for Windows and Linux. Mac users can still join v1.2.2.1 servers with v1.2.2.
Double Action Boogaloo v 1.2.2
I love these rhyming version names.
That's correct! Double Action has received another slew of bugfixes and balances, changes and enhancements.
Punters will notice some additions to the scoreboard, as well as upgrades to spectator mode. Bots can now mantle and climb in some spots, and the hitmarkers for incoming fire will now dynamically scale with game resolution, making for a clearer impact on larger screens.
Our more experienced superfallers will notice that "WORTH IT!!" is now doled out less liberally, making for more intense and rewarding skybattles.
Additionally, gameplay has been tightened and bugs squashed, and the votekick system has received a tweakin. You can view the changelist here
As usual, if you're making maps be sure to show us what you've got! Now get in there and RRRRRRUMBLE!
Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.1.2
Hello fellow Double-Actionists!
Just a tiny update concerning mostly the non-Windows users.
Linux users no longer crash when entering observer mode (already released on 2016-06-18)
The Mac build is now up-to-date and thus compatible with the servers again (thanks rezidue)
Btw, if someone knows how to build the Mac port on Linux, please share, as that would make updating the Mac build a loooot easier :)
Double Action: Boogaloo v1.2.1
That's right boogalooers it's bugfix time! TomyLobo has appeared out of the flames like Robert Patrick Jr in the final scenes of Terminator 2, delivering a chunky bunch of fixes to munch. Double Action has long been endeared with bugs ranging from the mundane to the insane, and this update smooths that ride leaving a clean guide for your styling-est slide.
TomyLobo is the living embodiment of community-borne awesomeness. Two months ago he popped up on the boogaloo radar with some nonchalant bugfixes and sensible github ideas and has since gone on to single handedly rejuvenate Double Action: Boogaloo with his select lines of code. Double Action has always relied on the skills of the people that play it, and will continue to do so into the future! If you can code, map, model, texture, sing, dance or stand on your head and move a box with the force, we want to hear from YOU! Get in contact via the community submissions forum on the DA steam discussions board, or add Stormy on steam!
As usual, server operatives will need to run the steam update on their various servers. The SimRai servers are up-to-date, as is the Through Human Eyes (T|H|E) server and Wizard of Distortions community server.
In this update:
Akimbo weapons now drop one by one. Duallies too inaccurate all of a sudden? Don't want to spend all that time reloading two pistolas? Throw one away and get back into the action thanks to this fancy gameplay tweak.
Overlapping slowmo now behaves properly. If you gain slowmo seconds during a slowmo activation, you can now disable your slowmo without re-activating the newly acquired slowmo seconds.
Prevent switching to grenades when picked up. Few things suck more than trying to grab a local grenade only to find your weapon has disappeared and is being replaced by said grenade. That no longer happens, so now there's PLENTY of things that suck more than that!
Fixed a bunch of ways to get stuck. Getting stuck is one of the few things that suck more!
Don't update style skill until after a respawn. No more nitro sploits! You know who you are...
And more bugfixes and changes. See the full changelog here
Now it's time to kick bubble gum and chew some ass. And I'm all out of ass. See you on the servers this weekend ;)
Double Action: Updated!
Ladies and gentlemen, brawlers and athletes, we bring you Double Action: Boogaloo V1.2!
New maps, new music, new sound foley, this is a chunky, beefy, beef chunky update! Check out the details here
This update is already LIVE! The SimRai servers have been updated as well as the Aussie servers and Wizard Of Distortions community server. Server admins can update via their steam update module, or via the console.
Now get in there and boogaloo!
A message from an old contact
It's been a while buddy. Thirteen? fourteen months? Ah who's counting - it's good to see you back on the block. I got a little somethin for ya. Something you might like. Why don't you go on down the subway and check it out. Let me know what you think and we'll talk again soon.
When polling began, Dive Harder was in a solid 20 point lead, but then in a surprising (and stylish!) reversal Doves of Fury pulled way ahead! Now Dive Harder is closing back in to again overtake Doves of Fury. Voting closes some time tomorrow (exactly what time? I dunno, whenever I feel like taking the poll down) so if you haven't already, get your vote in here: http://www.doubleactiongame.com/double-action-boogaloo-steam/
The Double Action team has been eating apples all week and the result is that the OSX version of DA is almost ready. Its bits and bytes are currently loaded into Steam and ready to be processed and downloaded by all of our beautiful players, we just have to do make sure none of the apples have any bugs before the hour of final disbursement (exactly what hour? I dunno, whenever we stop eating them apples.)
In addition we're going to release the OSX version in tandem with the Steam Workshop, which will let anyone build and distribute modifications to the game, some of which may be incorporated back into the official version. All of this will happen perhaps some time this weekend (exactly what day? I dunno, whenever it's done.)
EDIT: Sorry guys, looks like the workshop is going to take longer than we thought, it's coming soon, but not as soon. We'll push forward with the Mac support, but workshop will be in a later update.
