As far as I can tell, no e-mails to mbar.developer@gmail.com or picutres posted to the community about beating the game has been sent or uploaded. The chance to still win the contest of being able to name the next game character in Nightmare on Azathoth after yourself or anything you want is still on. Whoever sends the fastest escape time wins.

Nightmare on Azathoth is Downpour's spiritual successor, and is officially on steamgreenlight now. Downpour was meant to introduce alot of the mechanics that will be used in Nightmare on Azathoth. Nightmare on Azathoth will be different in that it may have alot of the mechanics, but will have more influence on Horror in it. There will be no hover shield or flying in the game, but It will have more resources to consider when trying to survive. Check out nightmare on Azathoth, and help get it on steam!

The contest to name the next game character in Nightmare on Azathoth after yourself or anything you want is official! The way to win is simple, whoever uploads the fastest escape time shown on the home screen to either the community or to my email at mbar.developer@gmail.com will win. The normal state of escape time of 0 days and 0 time does not count :p

I am confident that no one has beat the game yet, even though it has been out since May 14th. I will wait a week after the first submission to ensure the most people get the chance to enter.

Patch notes:

Thanks to users F4T4L & RowdyOne I have been able to narrow down performance issues in which there are slow downs when screamers are on the screen and many enemies appear. I've updated the physics and programming of the game heavily so hopefully everyone will have a buttery experience.

Downpour Update 1.2

Thanks to user Sumanitu and my friend JC for their feedback in this short update.

Tweaked the screamers to not be as aggresive. Many players have had issues of them aggressively sticking to the player behind the shield. Now they are more easily shaken off, & dodged.
Shield is now toggled on and off instead of being held down. Issue of unnecessary strain on hand when constantly pressing down right mouse for shield, and rapidly clicking left mouse to shoot. Long play times this can really add up. Now players will have more focus available to shooting, flying, and dodging with these 2 updates.

Chance to have main character named after you Contest Preview



Downpour has been officially finished 6 months before it arrived on steam. In that 6 months time I have started the more ambitious 3D successor of Downpour called Nightmare on Azathoth. Many of the survival mechanics have carried over to this game. Details for the chance to have the main character named after you or named to however you like will be released within the next couple of weeks. Clue: Winning contest will require achieving something in game.

Downpour Update 1.1

Thanks to users Sumanitu, and Darth Yumani for reviewing the game and giving me insight on what I should update first.

I realize that the tutorial, and game in itself is pretty vague in the intricate mechanics it has. Some players I'd guess are giving up just at the tutorial stage. I totally removed that previous tutorial stage and replaced it with a more in depth version that should explain the games mechanics a lot better.
I also replaced the unnecessary button combination in the main menu with single button presses. Except with the exception of the reset data as I didn't want that to be easily triggered.
I've also rid of the need to go through the tutorial stage every time the player dies. Tutorial stage will be accessed strictly from the main menu, and starting/loading a game will have its own button.
Making it quicker to get into a new session, by allowing the players to press space when transition between main menu, tutorial, and main game I believe will greatly change the feel of the game.

Hopefully these fixes will make the game more available to everybody, and have a much better flow to it.
