A carefully crafted world, Madman brings something new to the table: A game where there are no evil wizards to defeat, nor military factions to join or conquer. Others have done that well enough, and by now done it to death, Madman was made with the explicit intention of offering something different.
An ordinary person in a curious land, where the ultimate danger is not readily apparent. Born from five years of blood, sweat & tears, Madman's development was constantly monitored by about a dozen other old-school rpg players. Maybe I got it a little better than my old "Ultizurk" games. :)
Yet the support of this game will insure rapid progress of the far more elaborate ULTIZURK IV: Lord of the Cyclops, currently in development. Keep thine elven sword of antiquity sharpened, oh questor, for the adventure has just begun!
UPDATE! Version 1.6 is live!
Hey! Dr. Dungeon - Rob here, went through 1.5 to 1.6!
- 1.6 has all the 1.4 stuff plus a few bells & whistles:
- Clarified even more about getting the useful item earlier.
(It involves quick travel as at first glance it seems like
the function isn't in the game, but it is as part of a quest
and is a pretty interesting implimentation. Enjoy!)
- Fixed a few minor bugs involving inventory and several quest items.
- Added several extra messages throughout that assist the player to
not accidentally over-look or miss certain quest clues.
- Plus did several extra run-throughs to insure all is well.
- If you fall in love with Wendy, I'm sorry I can't give you her phone
number as she's a fictinal character. :)
As always, will continue to listen to feedback and thank you for playing! Dr. D.
UPDATE! Version 1.4 Coming soon!
Based on user feedback and general tweaks:
- Portraits have been modified to reflect the overall style
of the game. They are more like stenciled paintings now.
(screenshots are up now)
- Ranged weapons were a bit over-powered. Now adjusted.
- Steal skill is better now. The check no longer occurs
upon taking the object, but on putting it in your
inventory and walking away. Let's you inspect the goods. :)
- Player is occasionally reminded to camp. This is important
for the dream sequences and moving the story along.
- An important and useful item is now easier to get near the
early parts of the game, involving the Water Witch.
- Lantern now properly lights up monsters at night and in
dungeons, making targeting much easier.
This should be up soon - maybe a day or two. Will definitely announce!
Further feedback is always welcome. Enjoy! - Dr. D.
