Compare Your Morals

We've released a new update to the game that now tracks player decisions, yes the stats are real!

Compare what you think is the "correct" decision to thousands of other players. Are they wrong? Are you wrong?

We're committed to making sure that our trolley problem game is as safe and secure as possible—we don't track or store any personal information about our users. Only you see your decisions and how you compare to others. When you make a decision it's recorded anonymously without any data attached to you.

We also added more problems for you to address! 20 new dilemmas which will get you thinking what should I do?

We'll be live streaming today at 5pm!

This major update comes alongside the Made in Ontario promotion, check out all the great games!

Here are some of the biggest changes:

* You can now see stats on decisions you make in-game. We want to know which ones players agreed on and which ones generated differences in opinion.

* More moral problems! We've added more scenarios where you have to make tough choices about what's right and what's wrong, so that we can keep expanding on this aspect of gameplay and give you more difficult decisions to make.

* Faster gameplay: We've sped up the gameplay slightly so that it feels more like an engaging adventure.

* Bug fixes: We fixed some bugs that were causing crashes when certain people played the game, so hopefully those crashes will be a thing of the past!

2020 Retrospective Update

What if you can relive the major events of 2020 ? The Dr. wants to know what moral choices you made on key events throughout 2020.

The game is 50% off as part of the Steam Winter Sale so get it now!

20 new situations to test your 2020 morals!

So much happened this past year that you've probably forgotten key events. We reviewed 2020 on wikipedia to see which situations are the most challenging. They are in order so you can relive 2020 more or less chronologically.

In some situations you'll find homages to cultural moments and in other situations you'll be reminded of some stupid political things from earlier in the year. And oh yea, anti-maskers show up.

Including some moments you may have missed like theAfghanistan war crimes investigations and the FinCEN Files

We hope this tour-de-force of the craziest year (yet) will bring you some closure.

To recap, in this update:

Updated to squash the summer bugs

We've updated Dr. Trolley's Problem to address a whole swath of bugs that players found. With more players from the sales there were more eyes on our game, which meant more mistakes were found. Sorry about that. We're happy that people are interested in our humble game though :)

Fixes include:

  • Pushing people off a bridge is less buggy
  • Menu works even better than before
  • Load time improvements
  • Various fixes to the tutorial
  • Other tiny things.

Hope you enjoy the game!

More bug squishing

We've got more players thanks to the summer sales, which means more bugs got found, which means I tried to fix as many as I possibly could.

Fixed:
Fat Man & The Fat Pierre situation bugs that wouldn't reset properly if you push them off and return to do the same situation again.
The game would sometimes load the wrong menu. Now it loads the right menu.
Some other tiny things.

Dr. Trolley's Problem is COMPLETE & 25% off!

[previewyoutube="6NpGxicakp8;full"]

We did it!

To celebrate our version 1.0 milestone Dr. Trolley's Problem is 25% off!

The full Dr. Trolley's Problem problem sets are ready for you to play through. We have the traditional trolley problems you can play and the view-shifting AI car mode. What will you do if you have to choose between hitting a wall or a person?

You might already have the update, we pushed it to players late last week and so far no problems have been reported.

What we found during Early Access and almost a year of lackadaisical testing.

  • The trolley problem situations spurred the conversations we hoped for.
  • So many bugs! Where do they come from?
  • Players want more situations to struggle through.
  • People enjoyed the chance-based situations after a series of serious ones. This was predictable since the inclusion of chance takes mental pressure off of the player.

Tell your friends about the game and share as much as you can on the social media of your choice. Maybe you love TikTok or are going old school on MySpace, either way we appreciate your efforts!

Thanks to everybody who has supported us in this journey to a nice round 1.0 release!

Introducing the "AI" Car Mode

Experience the joys of driving an autonomous car!

Artificial Intelligence in your hands! That's because it is your hands that will be doing all the driving. In this update the Dr. has prescribed you an autonomous car that, and much like the trolley, you need to decide what to do.

More on this mode and more randomness will be revealed next update.

Arrows are now overlaid on top of the tracks to help clarify where the trolley will go. Predicting where a thing on tracks goes proved to be too difficult for too many people.

Other noteworthy things in this release:

  • Even more actors to run over or save
  • Random situations now describe actors
  • Screen shake
  • Menu improvements
  • More bugs terminate

Please keep an eye out for any more bugs that might still be sneaking around in the game.

We're almost to the full release!

Random Mode and More Situations Added

LOTS OF NEW STUFF!

The Dr.'s been hard at work over the summer crafting even more trolley problems for all you patients. While you were out enjoying the sun and hanging out with friends Dr. Trolley was hard at work on the meta-VR device to improve your game experience.

The end of summer (or is it the start of fall?) update adds more play time and stressful situations. There have been changes behind the scenes which hopefully don't cause more bugs.

There's an upcoming game mode that will hopefully blow your collective minds. It'll come out just before the 1.0 release. Stay tuned!

The highlights from the update:

  • Randomly generated situations!
  • 25 new situations!
  • There are more actors in the game for the trolley to run over (or not).

More on the random situations:

The current rollout of the random situations displays actors on the tracks. Choices are only influenced by what you see - who's on the track - without any additional notes. In a future update it is planned to also generate random information about each actor to influence what people decided to do.

If you have any feedback on the random situations (or anything else about our trolley problem game) please let us know!

An incomplete list of changes:

  • New situation category
  • Ghosts have a bit more randomness
  • Rebuilt menu system
  • Inorganic actors to run over
  • Analytics update
  • Loading screen (you know you love it)
  • More variety in ghosts

Some quick fixes

This is a subtle update which will make adding more content later a little easier. Nothing much to see here.

Modifications

  • Did a quick pass on some visual quirks
  • Changed some more situation timing
  • Another pass on analytics stuff
  • Dealt with some invisible bugs that nobody (probably) noticed

Keep playing - that's an order from the Doctor!
