Draginsanity

Full Screen

The game now runs in full screen mode.

Improved Graphics

* more details in the background
* improved look of enemies
* hard to explain in words, just watch the trailer and you'll see what I mean

Steam Input

From now on you can use the Steam Input functionality to create your own controller layouts. If no controller is connected to your device the game can still be played by using the keyboard. I already defined a layout for the X-Box controller and set it as default. When I wanted to create a layout on my Steam Deck I saw that the default layout was automatically adapted for Steam Deck. Cool!

Steam API, better bossfights and prettier mana fields

This update adds two major changes:

  • The game now uses the Steam API. Currently I'm only using it to pause the game when the steam overlay is activated. But I'm planning to do more.
  • Until now, many bosses only had one or two different attacks. To make the bossfights a bit more challenging I added a few more attacks.

And one minor change:

A few mana fields in the game still looked like in the early access version. I fixed that and now all mana fields have a coherent look.

Password Mode

If for whatever reason the game could not be saved a password is now displayed. The next time you play Draginsanity you can enter the password in the main menu to continue playing where you left.

The cover image shows such a password. Ok, it's not such a spectacular password because it lets you start at stage 1 (TADA). But you get the idea. ;-)

Added Checkpoints

This was not on my todo list. But I received feedback that this game should have checkpoints many times. I think I should no longer ignore it. :-D From now on each stage has exactly one checkpoint.

Draginsanity is fully released!

It's finally there! Draginsanity is fully released! It was a great journey for me to craft this game. It's hard to grasp how much the game changed compared to the first prototype that I build. Back then it only had 5 stages. The mana fields were merely colored rectangles in front of a black screen. And compared to now the dragons and all other strange creatures who inhabit the realm Draginsanity were nothing more but sketches. I never would have thought that the game will look the way it does now.

But let's stop the talking. To all who have been waiting patiently for the full release of Draginsanity: Here it is! Dive into the magical world Draginsanity and save it from the evil wizard! Have fun :-D

Full Release - Coming Soon!

In November Draginsanity will be fully released! Please note the following: I changed my mind and decided that achievements and saving the progress in the cloud do not necessarily need to be part of the first version of the full release. I still think they are potential ideas for updates and make a lot of sense. But you can still have an amazing experience without them when playing the game for the first time. I'd rather spend the time until the full release on improving the design and/or the look of all the stages. And of course I will add an awesome finale after the final boss fight.

Short update:
It took longer than I anticipated. But today I finally played the version of Draginsanity that I am happy to send into full release! My plan is to upload it in the next couple of days and to publish it over the weekend. Be prepared ;-)

6th update

Finally: All 10 stages of Draginsanity are live! The last stage is available now. It doesn't introduce any new enemies or new mana. However, it combines almost everything from the past stages in a way that is truly insane!

The final boss is someone you know. Since stage 10 is the final stage it has to be the evil wizard. You're gonna fight him the first time at the end of stage 9. If you win he will retreat and transform. At the end of stage 10 you will fight him in his second form. He's gonna be much stronger! Can you beat again?
