Build 0.9.21 Release

We've released version 0.9.21 of the BETA. There are several internal fixes, but those you will likely notice are:

- relics now scatter when dropped. We believe this will help with competition by making it harder for one dragon to pick them up.

- more relics have been added and/or changed with more lore. We still have some details to fill in, but the base selection of relics will be the same.

Servers down until new build is released

We've brought the servers down while we prepare for a new BETA release.

We are postponing early access...

So, we had planned on releasing the game today, but we are not comfortable with releasing the game with the feedback we've received so far. While we've gotten good, positive feedback on some aspects, there are features the game will need to be well received.

First, we really need to expand the interest to ensure there are always enough players for a match. This was some feedback we've received both here on the forums and in direct feedback.

Second, we'd like to give everyone something to do while they wait for a game to start. We have some plans for this, but it may take a little bit to implement. Bear with us while we get this established.

If you have feedback, we'd really like to hear it. I know it sucks when a game is delayed, but we believe in releasing a game when it's ready - we just don't feel like Dragon Souls is ready.

Dragon Souls v0.9.20 Update

We've accomplished a few things in this build which should allow us to keep the servers running for a while. We had anticipated focused play times, but it may not work with all players. Therefore, we will continue to leave the servers running, but we suggest everyone wishing to play against other players try between the times of 6-9pm EST.

Bug Fixes

  • - Fixed a problem where all players were launched into the next game, regardless if they were queued or not.
  • - Players should now be able to exit the ‘Winner Screen’ and return to the lobby consistently.
  • - Fixed a problem where relic inventory could not be changed. Players can now move relics around to optimize which relics are in use.
  • - More movement controls are now available in the lobby.


New Additions

  • - We’ve switched the default keyboard layout to a WASD setup and enabled mouse buttons for remapping keys. Keys can be remapped in game through the "Controls" menu.
  • - We’ve added lore for the relics. When you’ve captured a relic, enter your den to get the full story. Some relics are due more information, so we will continue to expand on this.

New Build Ready for Release

We have the next build ready for release. We will be putting it up later today with patch notes. Unless problems are found which prevent us keeping the servers up and running, we will leave the game available all day. Even though, we will still try to setup times for play to get our BETA testers all together.

Servers down until new build is released

We have brought the servers down in preparation for a new build and to schedule more focused play times.

Our next build will include:

- WASD key mappings and more customization to controls
- fixes to end-of-game connection issues
- fixes to relic inventory management (assigning relics to action bar)
- the addition of lore through relic inventory. Players can read up on each relic

Open BETA Keys and Server Availability

Everyone should get an email later tonight with a BETA key and more information. Please read through the entire email.

Servers will be available starting TOMORROW, May 6th at 10AM EST. We've made this decision to finalize a few last minute tweaks.

Open BETA Starts May 5th!!

Ok, we're ready to start testing the core of the game. We are running more lengthy closed BETA testing over the next two weeks to ensure server stability. From there, we're in Open Beta.

Open BETA will be available to anyone wanting to play, but a registration will be required. We will follow up with a game key.

If you've not yet registered on our site, and wish to participate, please go sign up and we'll get you involved.

Open BETA is almost ready...

We will be performing some final testing before open BETA. We would really like to give a date for the BETA, but we're reluctant to promise anything before the actual day.

If you've signed up for the BETA on our site, you will be receiving an email within the next few days with more information.

In the meantime, we are posting all of our updates over the next few days. We have updates to UI and gameplay we are all really excited about. Keep checking back.

Closed BETA has begun!!

Yesterday was our first closed BETA event and it was insane. We had so many players turn out and lots happening. It was a great day and lots learned to apply to the game. Check out our social feeds on Facebook and Twitter for more.

We have lots of work to do, but testing will continue. As we continue to test, we will expand the participants. Please spread the word and let others know to sign up for the BETA at http://www.dragon-souls.com/ if interested.
