Major update to the light engine.

Added better backgrounds for the rooms.
Added random 'flavour' items to the rooms - bones, skull, broken treasure items etc

Improved/redesigned level 12.
Improved the Dragon's abilities:
Dodges more when hit
Has greater hitpoints

Changed the melee system:
a hit now only relies on the player connecting with the target.
removed a restriction that disallowed the player from getting any benefit from hit/retreat/hit/retreat type combat strategy.
armour is now used to determine damage / blocking.
Immobile npcs are now always hit (mushrooms, turrets).
Walls can no longer be hurt by drain life.

Redesigned Treasure Rooms:
better placement of the (now 3) treasures.
Player no longer has to worry about accidentally bumping into the wrong choice.
Removed arrows as a choice.

Reduced the effects of poison gas as traps were too lethal.
There is now a click sound followed by a delay of 1 second before the gas is released.

Some notes now auto-remove from the inventory once read.
The way up is now highlighted on the map.
Npcs don’t fire missiles if next to blocking tile.

In the high score screen it now sorts by depth and highlights the last player's score if it made the list.
Updated the bestiary screen to show all the monsters and humanoids.

BUG FIXES



  • Fixed a bug which caused a crash when equipping a special dagger while holding a bow with no arrows.
  • Dragon no longer gets spawns in the wall in level 12.
  • Stopped arrows spawning under crystal in bridge/portcullis room.
  • Putting out ground torch now also turns off the light.
  • Fixed a problem with blue/red/green bugs spawning in top of webs producing infinite "DEFLECTED" messages.
  • Fixed an issue on the Water level which causes islands to be not connected.
  • Fixed an issue with gas chasm room exits which could prevent progress through the level.
  • Fixed sound issue where puffing gas used up all the sound slots.
  • Increased the interval between puffs in the gas chasms.
  • Stopped scroll spawned on crystal tile in middle of empty room.


KNOWN ISSUES


There are some elusive bugs kicking around:

  • Some of the disintegration graphics from fire disintegrate the wrong tile graphic.
  • Something destroyed the 'indestructible' wall around the edge of the level allowing the player to walk off.
  • Some sequence of events can cause an empty bow to produce shattering damage when it hits an enemy.



And finally, there's a gameplay issue where you can get teleported to a area with no way out e.g. it may be
blocked by a portcullis where the lever is inaccessible. The only way to get teleported is by reflecting your
own teleport spell at you so it would be the players fault if it happens.

Dragon's Lunch v1.9.0

Tweaked the dimensions of the different levels to make them more interesting.
Added 2 new trap rooms (Causeways).
Added mazes of tunnels.
Added a graphical circle around the player when protected.
Buffed the Bard.

BUG FIXES
Arrows now disappear when unequipped if they are all used up.
The Editor can now handle multiple items for NPCs.
Fixed a bug where rooms of destructible walls were sometimes not connected.
NPCs now go down to the stairs entry way on the lower level when they descend.

Oh and Happy Halloween from Ireland (the original home of Halloween).

Dragon's Lunch v1.8.1 released.

Just a minor update to add Spanish language support.

This was done using Google Translate so there may be some funny translations in there. Let me know if anything needs be corrected.

I also tried to correct the words that were always appearing in English.

Dragon's Christmas Lunch! v.1.7.0 released.

A new version of Dragon's Lunch is now available.

NEW FEATURES
You will now come across captive dwarfs. Rescue them and they will help you fight the monsters.

There are general improvements to the level generator. It will now generate more caves and 'empty' rooms are now likely to have at least one interesting feature in it. Also, there is now only one health trap per level.

Changed melee swing to activate on key down rather than key up as noted in a user review. This resulted in better key definitions.

Improved light graphics for torches etc
Improved displaying of monsters when only partially visible.
Increased the amount of gas in traps but made it less potent.
Traps are now hidden better in caves and dirt.

Goblin wizards in deep levels have a shattering spell.

Puddle monster now has grab ability.

Added another note to find.

BUG FIXES
Monsters should no longer spawn in walls or on chests.
Fixed issue with loading - player was always shown in leather armour.
Fixed some lag issues on level four.


KNOWN ISSUES
There are some issues with the editor to do with monsters as they can now carry multiple items.

V1.6.0 Released

A new version of Dragon's Lunch is now available.

The big change is a redesign of the water level. I won't give any more details as I don't want to spoil the surprise(s).

The following have also been added:

A new scroll - scroll of curse
A new wand - wand of infection
A new monster - the puddle monster who likes to lurk in dead end corridors.
A new exploding trap room.
A new spell capability for deeper level goblin wizards - they can now cast a spell of shattering.

A new update is on the way, featuring redesigned water level, a new scroll, a new wand, a new monster and a new monster ability. Stay tuned ....

New update of Dragon's Lunch v.1.5.0 is now available.

I am delighted to announce a new release of Dragon's Lunch is now available.

Most importantly, it fixes the issue with being unable to load some save games.
These old saves should work in the new release.

NEW FEATURES

Added a new type of room - large circular room with lots of the same type of monster.
Added a Steam achievement for each descent.

GAMEPLAY
Improved the turret trap room - turrets now rotate and fire by themselves.
Remove the orange twisty passages as they didn't add to the game play.
Added code to reduce the number of dead end corridors.
These two changes result in much better maps now.
The Dragon now has much more hit points.

USER INTERFACE
Added some usability improvements to the menus and in game messages.
Separated the local and steam high score buttons on the high score screen.
Added a prompt to press the Escape key when the player dies.

BUG FIXES
Fixed an issue with treasure rooms getting no exits due to the doors being secret.
Giant Spiders no longer spawn at random in walls.
Start room with 4 keys can no longer place a door leading off the level into the void.
Fixed some issues with updating the light after opening and closing doors.
Fixed some issues with updating the light after shooting wands.
Fixed a bug which allow the player to take all items instead of one from some treasure rooms.
Turrets are no longer placed where they would block passageways.
Fixed a bug that allowed the player to glide through monsters when swinging her weapon.
Fixed a bug that caused instant death when the player collided with moving walls.
Fixed a bug with uploading the high score to steam.
Fixed a crash problem with loading save games that have a puzzle trap.

v1.4.0.10 release

Just a quick reminder that the game has been updated to v1.4.0.10.

This allows turning off of the Fancy Shadows from the options screen to support older graphics cards.
