The Steam Summer Sale is upon us all and Dreamfall Chapters: The Final Cut is 70% off, but you already know this and you probably already own the game so unless you're planning to gift it to someone in your life (please do!) you may not care.
What you may NOT know, however, is that the amazing original soundtrack to Dreamfall Chapters — by award-winning composer and musical genius Simon Poole — is also on sale and you can "complete your collection" now by purchasing the Dreamfall Chapters + Original Soundtrack bundle for an additional 10% off.
What you ALSO may not know is that our new game Draugen is out and 10% off through the end of the Summer Sale. Even better: you can get the game with the fantastic and critically acclaimed soundtrack by Simon Poole, along with the digital art book, and save 24% on the sticker price.
Draugen is the perfect game for a lazy summer evening in front of your computer (or on the couch) as you join Edward Harden and Lissie on their journey into darkness in 1920s Norway.
From Russia with Love: Version 5.7.6 patch notes
UPDATE: Due to miscommunication on our behalf, we neglected to fix a bug that affects the Russian language version of the game. This bug blocks progress when playing with Russian subtitles. The only workaround right now is to switch to English or another language. We are currently working on a fix and expect to patch very soon.
This one's been on the beta branch for a while, but we're finally bringing the long-awaited Russian translation (subtitles only) to the main branch!
Version 5.7.6 also brings with it a few other fixes:
Russian localisation, created by a group of dedicated fans (see below)
Fixed occlusion bugs in Northlands forest
Added baked lightmaps that were missing in "Deleted scenes"
Fixed Facebook integration to work with latest API
Small UI fix for the in-game language menu
Fixed material on protestor in Europolis
We want to extend a very special thanks to the awesome fans who put together the Russian translation. огромное спасибо!:

Version 5.4 patch notes
Version 5.4 has been in beta for almost one week, and is now moving to the main branch. There are some additional fixes and updates in the latest version. Please see the patch notes below for more information.
This major and long-delayed update includes full German localisation for the final two episodes, along with Unity engine upgrades and support for DirectX 11.
Please note that this is not The Final Cut patch, which we plan to release alongside the PlayStation and Xbox versions this spring. Existing customers will receive a free upgrade to The Final Cut edition, and we plan to sunset previous editions of Dreamfall Chapters.
Patch notes
Version 5.4.1 includes:
German voices for Book 4 and 5, and other localisation fixes
DirectX 11 support. If your video card is compatible, there should be noticeable performance improvements
New startup video and opening credits

Various audio fixes
Fix for pausing game when alt-tabbing out while in fullscreen mode
Fix for rare inventory bug
Fixed stuck head look-at
New update in beta branch (v5.4)
We've posted a major new update in the beta branch. This long-delayed patch includes full German localisation for the final two episodes, and support for DX11.
We expect the update to make it to the main branch within a few days, but if you want to give it a spin you can do so now by switching to the beta branch. Please report any issues you find!

Version 5.3 patch notes
Dreamfall Chapters has been updated to v5.3. This version:
Adds German subtitles for Book Five
Adds remastered English voice files for Books 1-4, fixing inconsistencies in volume and sound quality
Fixes an issue with the 32-bit version, where players could not connect to our online database
Fixes a problem with the settings that ignored player's visual effects preferences when switching cameras
French subtitles will arrive shortly with version 5.3.1.
Our German localisation partners are still working on the voice-overs for the fourth and fifth episodes. These will be added to the game as soon as they're ready.
Version 5.2 patch notes
Dreamfall Chapters has been updated to version 5.2, which addresses a number of bugs.
This update:
Fixes a problem with buggy graphics on Mac, resulting in square, coloured artefacts appearing in scenes. This also includes other visual fixes for the Mac
Fixes an issue with missing lights in the Enclave in Book Two, affecting dialogues with Enu and Likho
Makes it easier (we hope!) to solve the musical puzzle in the Journeyman Inn for tone-deaf players
Fixes an issue with the materials on the Dreamer in chapter 7, to make it less shiny. It was too shiny. Way too shiny
Brings back missing sound-effects and voices for the guards banging on the roof gate in the Friar's Keep scene
Updates the cut-scene with Mira at the end of the Kidbot job path — nothing big, it should just look better now
Fixes an issue with buggy anchoring in the settings menu
Fixes missing collision geometry in Marcuria, which made it possible to exit the world — no more YouTube videos of flying Kians!
Boosts footsteps on wooden surfaces, which was noticeable in (e.g.) the Hand That Feeds
Improves email format check for Red Thread account setup, to notify users of things like double @s
Fixes an issue with targeting Crow on top of Klacks' stage in Book Four, which was frustrating
Fixes a problem with the light beams in the Book Four Interlude on Macs, which made it super hard to solve the puzzle. Other light beams should also be improved now on Mac
Fixes an issue where players could enter the vintner's booth and confuse the vintner in Book Five. You don't want to confuse the vintner
Fixes an issue where you could open the game menu while a scene faded in, which caused the game to stop responding when loading a previous save
Some smaller fixes which might rightly be considered spoilers if we included them here, so we didn't
This version does not include German and French subtitles. These will be included in version 5.3, which is tentatively scheduled for next week.
Version 5.1 change log
EDIT: We pushed out v5.1.1 last night — a hot-fix to solve a game-breaking issue. See below for more information.
Dreamfall Chapters v5.1 was released earlier today. This version includes the following fixes:
Version 5.1 patch notes
Fixed an issue where there were blank screens during the previous episode recap, when playing the French or German versions, due to missing translated text. It now defaults to English if there's no translated text
Fixed a bug that resulted in disappearing "Start Book X" option after completing game, loading save-game
Starting the game with controller conflicted with the sign-in box; this has now been fixed
Fixed a problem where French/German players got stuck when there's no translated text (this was fixed in v5.0.3)
Changed the wording in sign-up box to make it less confusing, since some players thought they needed to wait for verification email before they could start playing the game
Increased the interaction distance for vintner in Marcuria, after players reported problems interacting with the character
In the epilogue, the wrong description was triggered when looking at Balance symbol in ceiling. This has now been fixed
Version 5.1.1 patch notes
Fixed a serious bug in chapter 7, where the game would stop responding during a key decision point sequence. This bug was introduced in v5.1
REDUX release notes — v5.0.2 change log
Book Five: REDUX release notes — Dreamfall Chapters v5.0.2
UPDATE #5: We've discovered a bug in Book One with French/German versions. Look under 'known issues' below for more details.
UPDATE #4: Windows x86 and Linux x64 versions are live — all versions have now been patched to v5.0.3. We're monitoring the forum for any issues that need to be addressed, but so far there's not much. We will probably patch again next week, so please let us know if you encounter any bugs!
UPDATE #3: Mac version (v5.0.3) is now live and 32-bit Windows is next.
UPDATE #2: The game has been patched with v5.0.3, hopefully fixing the save game issue. Please update your clients!
UPDATE: Please read this post before updating the game and starting Book Five: http://steamcommunity.com/app/237850/discussions/0/351659808481827564/
The fifth and final episode of Dreamfall Chapters is now available for 64-bit Windows. 32-bit Windows, Mac and Linux versions are arriving shortly.
With Book Five, you can play the entire story from beginning to end — from Reborn to REDUX — and experience the emotionally brutal (but rewarding!) conclusion to The Longest Journey saga.
Open your Steam client to update the game…and we hope you enjoy the journey's end.
Here are some of the many, many changes and additions v5.0.2 brings to the game.
Change log
All new episode — REDUX concludes the story of Dreamfall Chapters. There will be tears! But also joy! And laughter! But mostly tears, lots and lots of tears :(
Revamped parts of Book One for clarity and pacing — including the opening chapter in Storytime, with brand new (and hopefully much improved) gameplay
New (and entirely optional, though we recommend using it) Red Thread Games login and cloud synchronisation system — for more information, see below or follow this link: http://redthreadgames.com/forum/topic/696-dreamfall-chapters-faq-known-issues-please-read-before-posting/#cloud
OpenGL 4.1 support on Mac and Linux systems, hopefully resulting in better overall performance
Unity engine update (another one!) from Unity 5.2 to 5.3, with further optimisations to memory management and performance
Improved lighting across multiple scenes from previous episodes — including Friar's Keep
Known issues
EDIT: This is now fixed in v5.0.3. Make sure you update your game before playing. ORIGINAL: Version 5.0.2 has a serious bug that prevents old save games from being loaded. A fix is incoming, and a new version should be available very soon. No save games have been corrupted or deleted
EDIT: There is a known issue with German and French versions when playing Book One. After Baruti's confrontation with Mr London, French/German players are unable to complete the goal and progress in the game. A workaround is to temporarily switch to English language when playing this scene, and going back to French/German after. We apologise for the inconvenience, and we will patch this shortly
Light shafts (god-rays) shader issues on OpenGL systems (Mac/Linux), resulting in no light shafts being rendered on these systems. We're working on a fix and we hope to have a solution soon
German and French subtitles are missing for Book Five. We will be patching those in as soon as they arrive
German voice-overs for Book Four and Five will be added soon after release — we will provide more details as soon as possible
New cloud login and synchronisation system
We've added a system that keep tracks of your progress between installations of the game — and across platforms. This means you can carry over progress from PC to consoles and mobile platforms, and vice versa.
When you first start up the game after updating to Book Five, you will be prompted with a registration window. By entering your email address — and clicking the verification link we send you — your unique client ID (unique for every installation of the game) will be connected to your account created in our database.
Since your account is connected directly to your email address, and new client registrations have to be verified via that email, we do not require a password for your account.
Once you've successfully logged in, your email address will be displayed in the top-right corner of the title screen. If you're not logged in, you will see a message like 'Login' or 'Verification pending' (dependent on current status) in the top-right corner. You can re-open the login window by clicking your email address/status message at any time.
For every new device/clean install of the game, you will have to log in and verify that specific client for it to be connected to your account.
Connecting to this service will ensure that your progress will be synchronised to our servers, and you will have the ability to download your progress to any other device that is connected to the same account. The only data uploaded to our servers are your latest saved game and the decisions you've made up until that point in the story.
As the game starts, the data connected to your account, stored on our servers, is compared with the data stored locally on your computer. If a more recent set of data is located on the server, you will be prompted with the synchronisation window on the title screen. Here you will have the option to download your most recent progress from our servers. You can also to skip this step, and continue without synchronising.
Once you select the synchronize option, the data stored on the server will be downloaded and placed locally on your machine. Now you can continue the story from where you previously left off, regardless of platform.
Rest assured that no data will be overwritten or deleted during this process. It is simply copied from our servers and downloaded to your system.
Your email address will never be shared with third parties or used for any other purpose than maintaining your Red Thread Games account.
REDUX is on its way!
Just a brief update on today's launch of Book Five:
The final version has been uploaded to Steam (yay!) and the testers will have to do one final run-through of the episode to check that nothing has gone wrong in the build-and-upload process. This usually doesn't take too long, so we hope to have the Windows PC version live within a couple of hours.
Mac and Linux will follow shortly after.
When it comes to German and French subtitles, the localisation teams are still working on these, but they will be patched as soon as they're ready — hopefully next week. We'll keep you updated.
As soon as the final episode has been successfully tested, we will post another update with the change notes.
In the meantime, here's the Book Five launch trailer — but beware potential spoilers! If you're planning to play REDUX today anyway, you may want to hold off on watching it until you're done. (We won't blame you if you watch it, though: it's a great trailer!)
