#9 DevBlog: The Finnish Cultural Foundation continues supporting DreamScript

We are pleased to announce that the Finnish Cultural Foundation has decided to continue funding DreamScript’s development. Our team is grateful for the recognition DreamScript has received and for the Finnish Cultural Foundation's daring support of video game art. Thanks to the funding, we have the opportunity to finalize the project and keep DreamScript free and accessible to everyone.

Now, we have even better conditions to focus on our work. Currently, we are enhancing DreamScript's visual design and improving the player experience. Furthermore, a new game mode is in development, which will increase DreamScript's longevity.

At the moment, we do not have any new information regarding the release date, but rest assured that DreamScript is in better shape than ever, and development continues steadfastly. We thank you once again for your patience and will return with updates as soon as we have something new to share!

#8 DevBlog: New gameplay video and screenshots!

DreamScript's store page hasn't reflected the current state of the game for a long time. Today, we fixed that by releasing a new gameplay video and updating old screenshots. Now you'll get a better understanding of the world and atmosphere that DreamScript offers. The gameplay video showcases an early segment of DreamScript and provides just a glimpse of the scenarios that players will encounter during the adventure.

We hope the new footage conveys how much effort our team has put into creating an engaging world and the best possible gaming experience just for you.

The unfortunate part of this update is that we have to delay DreamScript's release to next year. Time and time again we have learned that the only certain thing in game development is uncertainty. DreamScript's concept is full of potential, which is why we keep coming up with new ideas to enhance the experience even further. However, this also means the workload increases exponentially - when one part of the project is updated, all other areas must be updated to meet the same standard. It's a frustrating cycle, but at the same time, our trust in DreamScript's quality grows.

At this point, all we can say is that DreamScript's development continues, and day by day, we're getting closer to our dream game. The process is slow and challenging, but it's worth all the effort. Hopefully, the new footage makes your anticipation a bit more challenging too. :)

#7 DevBlog: Loading patience…

And here we go again!

At the end of 2022, it seemed like we could announce DreamScript’s final release date sometime in February or March. However, polishing the game to have all around professional and consistent quality takes much longer than we expected.

Having learned from the experience, we are not ready to give you a new release window just yet.

Good news is that the development stays active and we are ready to do whatever it takes to finish the project. With DreamScript’s experimental gameplay, we know we have something unique on our hands.

We hope to have better news in a couple of months. Until then, we remain grateful for your support and patience. If you have any questions, come say hello to us on the forum. We are always happy to hear your thoughts about the game. Thanks in advance and stay tuned for more news soon!

#6 DevBlog: End of the year progress update

At the end of the year 2022, DreamScript is feature complete but still in the polishing stage of the development. This stage includes playtesting, bug fixing and level decoration. To guarantee the quality of our game, we are postponing DreamScript’s release to early 2023.

As much as we hate delays, it's more important to release DreamScript with care.

We set the final scope of the game at the beginning of 2022. Our team estimated that we would finish DreamScript by the end of the year, and we weren’t far off considering that the game is now fully playable from start to finish with some extra features like the speedrun mode. However, playtesting and bug fixing is something we take seriously.

Besides polishing, our next goals include updating the game’s store page with new trailers and screenshots, shift focus on marketing and decide on the final release date. After three years of development, DreamScript turned out better than we could have imagined, and we can't wait for you to get your hands on it!

Thank you for sticking with us and stay tuned for further announcements in early 2023.

#5 DevBlog: Game features revealed!

DreamScript has reached the polishing stage of the development. That means we are ready to reveal the final features of the game. Hooray!

Here is the feature list:
- 2-5 hours long single player story campaign
- 18 levels
- 6 different environments
- Steam achievements
- Hidden collectibles
- Speedrun mode and challenges
- Programming guide
- Steam Cloud save

We still need a few months of development time to make sure that DreamScript meets our quality standards. An updated gameplay video, new trailer and the final release date will be revealed once we are absolutely certain that the game is ready for release. We want to deliver the best version of the DreamScript from day one!

While we continue to test our game, please leave your questions on the game’s discussion section. We are happy to tell you more about our little programming adventure! Especially we'd love to hear what you expect from the game. Hard class programming challenges or laidback exploration?

See you on the forum!

#4 DevBlog: Full throttle ahead!

DreamScript’s development is ramping up towards the end. We have polished already existing content and added lots of new features and levels. On top of that, we have outsourced external playtesting for a better overall experience for our players. All in all, development remains active and we are in a good place right now in terms of finishing our game.

The most important part is that DreamScript’s scope is now established and we have set the goals we want to achieve with the game. With these goals in mind, we have updated DreamScript’s release date to Q4 of 2022. There is a lot we could bring up regarding DreamScript’s added features and the final length of the game. However, for the moment we find it more appropriate to disclose the features closer to the release. Anyhow, we will keep you as informed as possible during the final throttle!

Once more, we want to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the development process and shown interest in our game. We wish you an exciting and productive spring!

#3 DevBlog: What the duck is going on?

Winning the Bit1 2021 game competition was a huge opportunity for us. We got a vast amount of encouraging feedback and lots of great advice on how to move forward with the project. Our development team agrees that we want to take DreamScript and its core concept to the next level. That means additional features, better usability and more overall polish.

Unfortunately, to achieve our goals, we have to delay DreamScript’s release to next year. The extra development time is spent to increase the quality and length of the final product.

In the meanwhile, we have a new trailer on display here at the Steam store page. We are confident that the trailer conveys the vision we have for DreamScript.

To learn more about the game and its release date, add DreamScript to your wishlist. We will have more information available in the coming months.

Thank you for your continuous support and see you in 2022!

#2 DevBlog: Letting the ducks out!

This week we got an outstanding reminder why you should show off your game whenever it is possible.
This is because DreamScript won first prize in Bit1 - Finnish game development contest for students.

The judges described our game as follows:

“DreamScript appeals to many audiences and the team has good plans for the future of the game. With this game, the team got right something that has been tried many times before. DreamScript makes learning fun and it’s a beautiful game.”

You can learn more about the contest and other participated games from Bit1 Winners Page.

We want to thank the organizers for the one of a kind opportunity and for the valuable feedback.
We are also excited to show DreamScript to larger audiences very soon.

But for now, see you on the beach!
