  • Better control over units - Nomads try to attack primarily the target indicated by the player and then the other targets
  • Eliminating unnecessary walking during battle - if the player indicates another target to the unit currently engaged in the fight, then (if the new target is within unit's range) the unit will rotate and attack from the same place
  • New progress indicator (counter) on the Victory Conditions icon in the Nomads game mode.
  • New in Paths of Progress: Golden Fate - The ability to melt various resources into Gold at a rate of 5 Gold per day. Conversion rates of individual resources to Gold: Wood and Stone 1:1, Coal and Iron 1:2, Ruby and Diamond 1:3

NOMADS & Driftland 2.0

The promise to restore civilization to its former shape and return to the times of splendor overcame sadness and filled the hearts of Driftland's inhabitants with new hope and energy. Determination for action diverted attention from the numerous conflicts between quarrelsome mage-rulers and various injuries sustained by those who did not give in to their will.
Outlaw rebels, by the mage-rulers called Nomads are exterminated and treated as barbarians. They believe that the new order is an attempt to restore balance in shape that has once destroyed the planet.
Now, the Nomads must fight to defend their values and survive.


Dear players!

We are pleased to present to you the latest and also the largest Driftland update so far. Thanks to the great Driftland fan community, we've had the opportunity to develop the game together during early access and after the release.
We hope that you will like the effect of the last few months of our work and that we will be able to further expand the magical world of Driftland.

What's new in version 2.0:




  • Nomads - new game mode
    Nomads do not have a ruler and do not carry out orders like other races. Units are managed directly, like in classic RTS games. New unit types/classes affect strategy on the battlefield. Path of Progress tree The Nomad economy is not based on resources as much as in other races.

  • Free Game - extended game mode replacing Skirmish
    A game mode that allows you to generate a random game just like before Skirmish, with the difference that we've added a lot of options that will allow you to create a game on your own inventory and more varied maps.

  • Cross-Play and new multiplayer engine
    With this update, Steam and GOG players will be able to play a multiplayer game together. By the way, we changed the multiplayer game engine, which should improve the stability of the game in this mode.

  • Tutorial
    We've had two tutorials so far - one in Skirmish mode and the other in Campaign mode. Unfortunately, each of them contained a different part of the knowledge needed to play Driftland. Some of you played only one of them and did not look into the other, which sometimes could cause frustration. We decided to sort it out and create an independent game mode - Tutorial, which quickly teaches how to navigate the world of Driftland and introduces the basic mechanics. We also got rid of the tutorial mission in the human campaign, which you just didn't like :-)
    The Nomads got their own tutorial mission because they use a completely different game mechanics.

  • NVIDIA GeForce NOW support
    Now you can play Driftland: The Magic Revival wherever you want using the GeForce NOW service.

  • Other improvements
    - different modes of operation of the improved defense towers depending on the race
    - new nested UI windows
    - improving the operation of some (units) skills that were not felt well enough
    and many more
    - key bindings have been extended and improved
    - optimizations for larger numbers of units on the screen
    - fixed Ritual flag
    - fixed tutorial achievement


Finally, we have one more surprise for our players who also like the roguelike genre or the twin-stick shooters with permadeath in general.
Together with Piotr Wolk, we are working on a cyberpunk skyline crawler heavily inspired by Outrun and Vaporwave aesthetics. We are at the beginning of our path with this project, but we dream to build such a strong community as Driftland has.
Until July 9, every Driftland user can buy a Danger Scavenger with an additional 20% discount, which adds up to a 10% premiere discount = 30% cheaper :-)

Nomads DLC (wip)

Not everyone on the planet Driftland is happy with the new order brought by the mages-rulers. Is this nothing more than an attempt to restore the apparent balance that has almost destroyed the entire planet once?
The Nomads did not recognize the new rulers and their kingdoms, which is why their dwellers treat them as ordinary barbarians.


Due to a series of unexpected events, we were forced to delay the release of Nomads for several days; from 18 to 25 June.

It is high time to share information on what we are currently working on, and there is quite a lot of it. Primarily the most substantial add-on to date that will introduce both; new content and fresh, if not revolutionary, game mechanics. So big that we decided to give it its own title: Nomads

Nomads add-on in brief:


  1. Nomads - a new nation that has no ruler.
    Nomads do not have a ruler and do not carry out orders like other races. Units are managed directly, like in classic RTS games. New unit types/classes affect strategy on the battlefield. Path of Progress tree The Nomad economy is not based on resources as much as in other races.

  2. Skirmish mode turns into Free Game
    Together with Nomads, we are significantly expanding the options for creating your own game and influencing its rules far beyond the current possibilities.

  3. Strengthening the characteristics of the four basic races.
    So that no one doubts how they differ. Changes on many levels, including building activities. e.g., the operation of defensive turrets will change depending on the race.

  4. Random Events
    Things that we have no control over, e.g., natural/magic disasters, will happen during the game.

  5. Crossplay
    Wouldn't it be fun to play on-line with GOG friends?

  6. Improvements and bug fixes
    We are fixing minor bugs and adding the improvements you propose that will debut with Nomads.

The good news is that the add-on will be free! ːsteamhappyː In return, we only ask for a little patience because we plan to release Nomads on June 18 June 25.

Other exciting information is the new project we are working on together with Piotr Wolk.
Danger Scavenger is fast-paced action, cyberpunk-themed, roguelike. The perfect game for those who are not looking for a relaxed, slow-paced strategy game like Driftland, but prefer something that raises blood pressure.

Dear Mages,



We continue our mission to improve the world of Driftland. This update is not guided by a specific thought, rather consists of small patches that affect the quality of the game's reception.

We believe that it will appeal to players who return to the world of a shattered planet regularly, and for new ones will lower the entry threshold and encourage them to thoroughly explore the world and the rules of our game.

Improvements


  • A new algorithm for selecting / clicking birds, dragons and flying units that makes selection easier
  • Clicking on information about being attacked moves the camera precisely to this event, not the island in general
  • Clicking on the information about the hero's death moves the camera to the place where it happened
  • Treasure finding information now directs / shows the treasure, not the finder


Bug fixes


  • Late game "fatal error" fixed (reported with crashlogs by Kya❤️ - thx!)
  • After loading the game we do not lose the view of the lines assigning units to flags
  • Correction of the description of Dark Elves in the Skirmish mode
  • Improvement for Dwarves in the unit management menu - flying machines, birds and dragons are correctly distinguished
  • Correction of persistently returning messages of some in-game events
  • Correction of the non-disappearing window of the game overwrite
  • numerous minor fixes

Update 1.3.4

Brave Mages!



This update introduces a number of user experience improvements and fixes that have been discussed and requested by the Driftland community in recent weeks. At the same time, we've synced all three development branches: Steam PC, Steam macOS, and GOG to version 1.3.x

Gamepad🎮



Gamepad support introduced in the previous update has been improved with many new features and has become more convenient. Therefore, from the experimental test version it changed into a full-fledged game feature.

DRM-Free



Fulfilling the requests with version 1.3.x, Driftland becomes DRM-Free. For most of you, nothing changes, the game works and starts as before.
However, for players who treat DRM (Digital Rights Management) as a restriction of ownership, this is a significant change that allows running the game without Steam and effectively creating an offline backup. However, please note that to use some of Dritland features like Steam Cloud save games, cloud campaign progress save, multiplayer mode, and achievements, the Steam client must be running in the background.

Bug Fixes



Since the previous update we have introduced several hundred changes and fixes in the source code of the game. The result is the elimination of many rare but annoying bugs that occur in specific situations, e.g. the (in)correct numbering of camps (and raids) during their frequent creation and removal.
The second group of changes and fixes improved the game's performance and stability. Here we owe a huge thank you to our wonderful community, which provided us a lot of feedback, game saves, and logs.

Next month we will meet Chinese game fans at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center during the concert of music from Polish games!
We are proud that the music from our independent strategy game will be played together with songs from the best Polish games: The Witcher, Frostpunk, Ancestors Legacy, My Brother Rabbit, and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Hotfix 1.2.8b

The latest update 1.2.8 has a bug described as:
"resource collection objective un-completable":

This was a new bug that affected all missions that have a resource counter to collect in goals. Paradoxically, this issue comes from the macOS code that has been integrated with the latest update.

Driftland speeds up! Update 1.2.8

Most of you enjoy the relaxed pace at which life takes place on the planet Driftland, often taking advantage of a moment of reflection and planning during an active pause. On the other hand, the time in our game can be accelerated to shorten the wait for the effect of your decisions.
We got a lot of feedback that the middle rate of time acceleration changes too little, and the maximum acceleration is not enough so the game is still too slow for some players.
Improving a time acceleration mechanics turned out to be quite a challenge. First of all, we could not spoil the game to people who like to play in a relaxed way, and secondly, excessive acceleration of time negatively affected the performance of AI and game optimization. This would be unacceptable and put into question the possibility of implementing these changes...

⏩ 50% Faster Game⭐


We did it! With version 1.2.8 in Driftland you can play 50% faster at a full speed, the middle time acceleration has been increased by 33% while maintaining full AI and game performance.
⭐The standard (unaccelerated) pace of the game and the active pause remain intact

🎮 Beta Support for Gamepads

(PC only)
An alternative game control model supporting gamepads has been added. This is a beta version that we will develop but you can now try how it works. The control mode is changed automatically - moving any gamepad knob activates the alternative control mode. To return to the standard mode, just move the mouse.

Driftland is a unique fusion of RTS, 4X strategy and god sim genres in a fantasy world made of a scattered world. Player takes on the role of a powerful mage-ruler capable of moving and reshaping parts of the planet. Both game mechanics and history are based on an innovative concept of dynamic topography and issuing orders to individuals with free will.

Story


A long war between the mightiest of ancient mages led to a gigantic cataclysm, shattering the entire planet into scattered pieces. Facing the destruction of their entire civilizations, warring parties decided to call a truce and tried to repair the caused damage. It was, however, already too late. Using all the remaining magic resources they had, the mages cast a powerful spell and managed to keep their world, Driftland, in a relative balance. Many dark ages have passed along with the world’s magic that bonded it together. When all seemed lost, a light of hope sparked once again: new sources of magic appeared and the whole planet began to give birth to new spellcasters.

And you have become the most powerful among them - a Mage Overlord with great power and great purpose. What fate will you bring to the planet - a new devastating conflict or world revival?

Subjects with free will, tamable wild creatures (or Dwarven aerial machines) and rich lore (with four new languages created specially for the project) are only the tip of the iceberg – the game allows you to move, terraform, create or destroy floating islands created by the cataclysm. You can reshape the world around you, thus gaining a strategic advantage over enemies and securing your well-deserved victory!
