Another minor sale update: Unity and all assets have been updated, including photon networking and cinematic effects. This lead to a stream of bugs and errors that took most of my time to fix, so there is no new content. On the bright side, the updates should lead to better performance and reliability overall.
In the meantime I have been working on a website for all my projects, check out some history or up and coming stuff: http://www.wardddev.com/
Update 4
Minor update for the first sale period. Here's the changelog:
Airborne character control is now more sensitive at low speeds. This should make jumping feel less 'floaty'.
All weapons will now fire automatically, simply hold down left mouse button.
Default quality setting is now medium, ensuring new players do not get discouraged by low framerates.
Motion blur is now turned off on medium quality setting.
Improved performance on high quality settings.
Fixed textures for falling boxes in the menu background, which were bugged since the Unity update.
Adjusted available screen resolutions to only show 16:9 resolutions (this is the standard, resolution can be changed at will).
Fixed a few mistakes in the skybox textures.
Fixed bug that prevented full text from appearing properly when you change a loadout in game.
Fixed bug that would make spectate menu close when closing chat.
Update 3
Demo version of the game will be coming very soon, hopefully this will get the servers going a little. Demo version allows you to play with other demo users as well people who have the full version, but with a few restrictions:
No Steam functionality (achievements and trading cards)
XP limited to 14, allowing 4 unlocks in total
acces only to 1 multiplayer map (ML01_Platforms)
No test loadouts; you cannot use locked weapons in practice mode
No access to Social Menu or Profile
No LAN mode
Client automatically disconnects to make room for paying players, if servers are almost full.
Along with this I made a few much needed changes:
Lower quality settings will now gradually turn off camera effects, improving performance
Added option to change mouse smoothing, allowing players to get rid of input delay
Fixed bug that caused tooltips to appear in the wrong place with Unity update
Added functionality to make game compatible with demo users
Update 2
I've finally managed to make the game compatible with the new version of Unity, with the new update I managed to make use of a few new Unity features:
Added bloom effect to accent luminescent objects
Added anti-aliasing effect to smooth transition between the gun and environment
Added motion blurring effect that activates when player is moving very fast
Added tone mapping to make the environments brighter and more colorful
Additionally I adjusted the lighting to meet the new effects;
All in all a huge improvement to the graphics!
Update 1
I've been busy hunting down some bugs that managed to sneak trough testing fase, here's the changelog:
Added new chat message sound effect
Fixed bug in win detection code, should work more reliably now
Fixed bug where chat text would sometimes dissapear between splitted lines
Spelling correction; changed "1th" to "1st"
Nerfed freeze gun; freeze stacks will now dissipate slightly more quickly
Expanded Galactic Vangaurdian font, so default smiley image will appear less often
If host has not selected the next map at the end of the match he will now be prompted to do so
You can now click away the "press escape to return" text while spectating
Resized Lore and credits, so the entire text is readable.
About the launch
Servers are up and running, everything is ready! Now we just need some players...
In all seriousness, it might take a while before we get people playing reliably enough to always find matches. So for the time being, invite your friends over to play with you!
I am also looking for people to advertise the game via lets-plays, reviews, free giveaways, contests, bundles or whatever; you can always contact me to ask for a handfull of steam codes to do so. Just explain what you want to do with the codes, provide links and such, so I know you're serious and not just mooching free copies.
