Commanders, we've got a massive update coming your way tomorrow, Wednesday, May 31!
We've lifted the cloaking field on our 5th class, and the first Sniper pilot, LYNX, will be available for EVERYONE to play tomorrow. And where better to play than on a brand new map, STYX.
Gameplay Notes
New Map: Styx
Once Drauger Limited's foremost testing ground for military innovation, this subterranean installation poised above a flow of magma was formerly known the Bergstrom Engineering Development Complex (BEDC), until a rampaging Kavash Boss drove everyone off and made the site its lair. Core Hunters now refer to the site as "Styx," for its symbolic resemblance to the mythological river.
Styx has several unique map features:
A single Kavash Boss dwells near the center of the map
There are only three Vision Towers on Styx, instead of four
Both squads' dropships are located on the same side of the map, and players must venture out to secure Vision Towers and Kavash Hives
Styx has an exclusive 4-point map objective: Max Eradicate - Kill 250 Kavash
New Mastery Scenarios
Lynx Mastery has been added to the 1-rig Mastery Tree and Training Campaign
Lynx Mastery reward gear has been added to the applicable Mastery bundles and scenarios

Now supports parties!
A party of 3 will match with another party of 3

Gear crates in the shop are now based off Corporations instead of seasons. The gear available in these crates will be specific to that Corporation. (Such as Wallace Grumlin, Song, etc.) Due to this, various gear pieces will also have a change in manufacturer
Comments: Labeling gear crates based on the corporation that manufactured them makes it easier for players to understand what types of gear they can expect to receive in those crates. It also gives us some creative freedom to explore and flesh out the corporations that hold power throughout the solar system.
Some transmissions have received text and icon updates
Hive Link’s destination FX has been updated

20% damage fall off between targets
The boss will reach full charge after 3.6 seconds. Once fully charged, the boss will discharge lightning in a 25m AoE around itself, dealing 200 damage to each target struck and stunning them for 1.5s
Boss powerups will now disappear if they have not been collected before the new boss spawns, which is every 2 minutes. The 90s buff status you receive once you have clicked on the powerup remains unchanged
Comments: We wanted to make the act of bossing more gradual over time, with a clear ramp up in the boss's strength (much like the hives) to better scale with player unit progression during a match. We also wanted to make the boss a more interactive fight and less about just having your tankiest rig stand in front of it and soak up damage, while your DPS whittled down its health. Now, players will need to be mindful of their unit positioning and rotation when the boss is activating its abilities.
Queuing up orders after issuing a back-to-base order will now wait for the rig to fully heal before resuming the remaining queued orders
Gear Changes
Positron Condenser (Mechanic Weapon)
AA release point moved from 350ms to 250ms
AA resume time lowered from 600ms to 500ms
Ability release point changed from 280ms to 200ms
Ability cast point moved from 0 to 100ms
Ability resume point lowered from 350ms to 300ms
Graphene Matrix (Mechanic Body)
Now an object-targeted ability
Attack negation buff duration reduced from 2s to 1s
Speed buff duration unchanged at 2s
Cooldown has been changed to 8s
Pilot Changes
Recon
Recon’s default body slot gear has been changed from Stealth Plating to Thrusters
Vise
Vise’s default utility gear slot has been changed from Frequency Adaptation to Momentum Shifter
Widget
Widget’s default body gear slot has been changed from Nanite Amplifiers to Graphene Matrix
Comments: We heard your feedback! Many new players felt that some pieces of default gear for Recon, Vise, and Widget just didn't feel as fun as some other options. (For example, Frequency Adaptation and Nanite Amplifiers are both passive abilities.) While we still feel that those pieces of gear have their uses in builds, we agree that new players should get some cool, more interactive gear when first starting out.
Cortex’s Special Move: Drone Strikes
Drone Strikes is now a channel ability
Players can move-cancel their channel after the first drone strike wave (1000ms)
Interrupting this channel will cease further drone strikes
Comments: Drone Strikes is a great ability for denial of a large area, which was made all the more powerful by Cortex being able to drop it and still move around and cast other abilities! Drone Strikes now requires Cortex to be completely focused while calling in his drones, which requires players to be a bit more judicious about how and when they use it.
Miscellaneous Notes
Ranked Divisions have been updated
A ‘Ranked’ page has been added to the Player Profile section. This page shows the player’s current Division, as well as their current Reputation Points (Rep) and the Rep they will need to get to the next Division. (You must be level 15 or higher to access this page)
10 Provisional games must be completed to determine what Division you belong in
Once you are in a Division, each game you win or lose will adjust your rep points closer to a higher or lower Division
When you reach the maximum points of your Division you will be placed in ‘Promotional Mode’. In this mode you must win 3 games to confirm your transition into a higher Division
If you reach zero points of your Division you will be placed in ‘Critical Mode’. In this mode you will have three chances to win a match to keep you in your current Division. If you lose all three matches you will be demoted to a lower Division
Rep and Division information is also now displayed in the Post Match Results screen
Only Bronze and Silver are available at the moment. Remaining Divisions to come in the future.
Changes to the Play Menu flow are underway and are still WIP
A ‘Learn’ option has been added to the Main Menu that features Academy videos, geared towards teaching players tips and tricks while playing Dropzone. (WIP)
A ‘Custom Games’ option has been added to the Main Menu, players can now navigate here to create custom lobbies
In 3v3 Matches, clicking the upgrade button will now automatically upgrade the player’s owned pilot, rather than making them choose their pilot to upgrade
Difficulty buttons have been added to Solo VS AI play flow panels. These buttons have hover text explaining the difficulty and reward percentages earned based off the chosen difficulty
Armor stats have been added to the Pilot Stats panel shown in the Builder
‘Enable Latency Adjustment’ option has been added to improve performance for slower connections
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where pilot default gear and the same non-default gear would play different FX in the Builder
Fixed an issue where the incorrect rig would show on the dropship in Draft if the pilot choice was changed before being locked in during the ‘pilot picking’ phase
Fixed a crash that could occur for players with many available scenarios / missions on their account
Fixed an issue where players could resign from Test Loadout. Players must now click ‘Return to Builder’ to leave Test Loadout
Fixed a sim server crash that could occur if multiple Nanite Walls were placed in the same location
Fixed an issue with Thrusters that prevented chain-casting all three charges, depending upon input timing. Thrusters should feel more responsive when multi-casting now
Fixed an issue where Crazed Banshee’s targeting decal would remain on the intended target if the ammo was redirected with Black Hole Shell
Minor SFX fixes
Minor localization fixes and updates
Known Issues
<*>AVG antivirus software may incorrectly flag the Dropzone client as malicious. We have reached out to them to whitelist the client. In the meantime, you should be able to manually allow your antivirus software to allow the Dropzone client to run.
<*>There are known issues with words bleeding outside of their bounding boxes for every language other than English. Fixes are on the way
<*>Locking Observer slots in Custom Matches only works when both slots are empty
<*>The Private Match setting only works when the game is already created, so someone can join in-between
<*>Hive Link does not have a cast ring around hives to show where the ability can be cast
<*>The ‘Easy Pickings’ achievement does not count Hives killed by a teammate towards the goal
<*>Global Chat does not reflect your changed name until you have restarted the game
<*>Party members that did not initiate a seek will see incorrect checkboxes sometimes (WIP)
As always Commanders, we look forward to hearing your feedback on these changes! Let us know your thoughts in the forums!
Patch Notes Early Access v1989
Greetings, Commanders! There will be a new game update tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26, with changes to gameplay, gear, and pilots; as well as quality-of-life suggestions from you, our player community; and lots of bug fixes!
Gameplay Notes
Pushes and pulls no longer interrupt abilities
Example: Abilities like Palm Rockets and Dyno Vortex will no longer stop Recon's Orbital Strike channel. The same goes for pushes and pulls affecting abilities like Pulverizers, Rocket Cluster, etc.
Dev comments: Previously, push/pull abilities would interrupt enemy rigs' abilities, effectively acting as a silence. Removing the interrupt still gives players the advantage of re-positioning opposing units. This also opens up more possibilities for future gear, as push/pull abilities would have needed to be balanced with longer cooldowns if they always acted as a silence.
Detection on Damaged
Duration reduced from 2s to 1s
Input, Orders, and Responsiveness
Fixed an issue where abilities would queue until stun completion and were unable to be cleared. Issuing orders to stunned units will overwrite existing orders on that unit.
It is now possible to interrupt Litany of Plagues with a new ability order, such as Reconstructive Maneuver. Issuing active-ability orders to units casting an ability will queue the new order for as soon as the current spell is interruptible instead of the full spell cast.
Click priority for Kavash workers has been increased slightly
Boss Pit healing buff now provides 20 armor instead of having to compensate with healing rate
Dev comments: Players were able to overcome the regeneration of the boss minions by attacking them outside of aggro range. Providing additional armor lessens the effectiveness of attacks from outside the boss pit, when the boss isn't aggro'd. Keeping the regeneration static makes sure the boss doesn't heal too quickly when players briefly leave the aggro range.
Hive spawn and leash locations should now be symmetrical in regards to the uplink

Some changes were made to prevent certain achievements from being unlocked in certain modes
The following Achievements cannot be earned in Challenge Matches or Custom Lobby Matches

The achievement text has been updated to no longer include ‘(PvP)’

Pandora
Litany of Plagues no longer damages friendly units. Friendly units within Litany of Plagues will still be affected by debuffs
Liberation, Pandora's passive trait, will search for nearby allies within 25m, down from 30m previously
Liberation now grants %-based bonuses. When no allied rigs are within 25m of Pandora, she will regenerate 0.75% of her max HP every second, and gains 9% auto attack damage
Fury's Special Move: Stunning Entry
Reduced the width of Stunning Entry from 7.5m to 4.5m. Decal updated to more accurately depict the AoE (both length and width)
Recon's Special Move: Orbital Strike
Now ignores armor
Widget's Special Move: Rapid Repairs
Duration increased from 6s to 8s
Miscellaneous Notes
The ‘Pilot Locked In’ symbol in draft has been changed from a checkmark to a lock to differentiate it from the ‘Player Ready’ checkmark
There is now a banner that displays when a player drops from a 2v2 or 3v3 match to better inform players that the AI has taken over for a teammate
A reload animation has been added to Laser Lens’ auto attacks to more clearly show when the next attack is ready
Global Chat Language Room choice is now saved as a local preference when the dropdown is changed, unless Dropzone is specifically booted up in a different language than the one set in the chat
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue where a crash would occur if a beam was active when a player chose to resume a 1 player mode after finishing a Multiplayer Match
Fixed an issue where issuing commands with the mouse on top of the Ping Guide in Team Modes resulted in the commands being ordered in incorrect places
Fixed an issue where the Party UI would flicker if the player hovered their cursor over the Party Leader’s crown
Fixed an issue where the Match Results graph would split into multiple lines in 3v3 matches, as if each player were on their own team. These graphs are now properly team-based for both teams
Fixed an issue where vision granted by M.A.S.R. Flare was not shown on the minimap on the Player 2 side in replays
Fixed an issue where disconnecting and reconnecting to a 2v2 match could result in the AI not properly shutting off and still having control of the player’s rigs

Fixed an issue where no negative sound effect played when a unit was issued a move command or tried to use a movement ability while rooted
Fixed an issue where using Alt + 4 would upgrade the Rig in Position 1 of your squad
Fixed an issue where ability FX would not reposition correctly if units were relocated via abilities like Palm Rockets
Fixed an issue where turrets in Infestation mode could not be hooked by Palm Rockets
Fixed an issue where the resolution scaling setting was not defaulting to off / disabled properly
Fixed an issue where Observers in Custom Lobby matches would see the ‘Skip Draft’ option during the Drafting sequence
Fixed an issue where the Crazed Banshee missile would skip while in transit to its target
Fixed an issue where the ability decal for Cortex’s Nanite Ray was incorrect
Fixed an issue where the Fog of War checkbox in Replays was not toggling the Fog of War settings correctly
Fixed an issue where the Kavash Alpha in the first tutorial would not spawn correctly if Recon was spamming Stealth Plating

Fixed an issue where hitting Esc to close In-Game chat would not properly clear the unsent message

Fixed an issue where party members would not match if a party member had one region selected but the party host had more than one region selected
Fixed an issue where a player could open their Profile menu after accepting a match, causing their screen to be obstructed by the Profile menu for the duration of the Draft
Fixed an issue that was allowing a Party of two or three to attempt to seek for 1v1 Unranked, which would cause an Invalid Parameters message
