Drugs and Crime Idle

Update 4.03 - Prestige and Achievements

Update 4.03

Prestige System and Steam Achievements

In update 4.03 you can reset your game progress and start all over again with the Prestige system. You gain 25 Prestige for doing so, which you can spend on new upgrades.

The upgrades are the same as those on the upgrade page, except doubled (max ap and max crimecoin 4times). Those upgrades do not reset when you reset your game.
I chose against other prestige upgrade options, like money and drugs, since those would make the game too easy.
Those, who have the DLCs, can claim them again after a reset.

There are 6 Achievements related to the prestige levels, but you can keep going as much as you want.
A counter will keep track on how many times you have reset your game.

I tried other ideas for the game reset and wanted to combine some other genres with it, but after testing and some thought, decided against it, since those were not really fun or fitting.

Steam Achievements
21 Steam Achievements. 15 for the items and 6 for prestige resets.

Have fun and thank you all for your support!

Update 4.02

Update 4.02

Quality of Life change to how opening crates works.

Before, you had to buy the crate at the crate screen, then open it, then click on crates again and so on.

Now, you can go to the crate screen and the cost deducts after you press the button to spin. This allows you to open crate after crate, without changing the screen.

It feels overall faster and more fun to open them now. Thank you RemboW for the nice suggestion!

Crate screen overhaul

The crate screen now shows the crates with the items inside. A general visual overhaul.
The coin generator now also has an image.

Lawyers
Lawyers were way too generous. This was not intended. They were intended to be a bonus reward to the thugs.
Lawyers before were multiplying their rewards, times the donut, times the thugs. Now they multiply only with themselves and the donut.

Boosted the overall lawyer rewards. Will be better for new players without any upgrades, but overall way less rewards for people with many upgrades into them.

Thugs and Lawyers might be revisited in the future, based on your feedback.

That is all for this update. If you encounter any bugs, then please let me know.

Good luck and have fun!

Game remake! Version 4 is now live!

Drugs and Crime Idle Recreated. Because drugs are recreational, get it?

Anyway, after one a half years, I have re-made the game from scratch, for the 4th time.

All previous versions, except the first, are available under the games betas tab. You can continue to play your savefile on version 3, the last one. Your savefile is unaffected and separate from this one. I will post a detailed guide on how to switch versions. Please check the guides tab in the community.

In short: Rightclick drugsandcrimeidle in steam library -> properties -> betas

What's new?

Everything, yet it should still feel the same.

Money gained is now per second, instead of every ~60.
Offline progression for 24 hours at half efficiency. Your criminals are only half as efficient without their boss.
Dirty money is now Crimenet_balance and clean money is now bank account balance. The feel for the game here is, that you are on a browser on crimenet, controlling everyone as the boss.

Dealers are now upgraded with drugs. Buildings produce drugs and are upgraded with crimenet balance. Moneylaundering is upgraded with dirty money and is needed to upgrade the thugs, lawyer, ap and passive crimecoin generation.

Thugs now attack instantly, without the text, which nobody was reading anyway, and are using ActionPoints(AP). This is an active play system. It is optional and you can ignore it, if you wish. You will still generate money and crimecoin.

Opening crates is the same, as is the item room. The odds with the crates are lower, the item room is the same, just with updated text for the new item effects. The crate opening has received a visual upgrade.

You can now choose which crate you want to open and skip one, once you have all the items inside, since all rewards are in CrimeCoin and CrimeCoin_lite, instead of just crates.

Overall the game is more simple, easier to understand what's going on, while still maintaining the original features and adding some more.

There might be some bugs left, although I think that I have squished most of them. Please report any under this post or in the community.

I feel that the game is now finished, but might add some more stuff, if I feel that something will fit well. The problem with adding new stuff, is balance.

I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it.
Let me know of any bugs, what you like, what you dislike and your general thoughts.

Have fun!

Community Update + Steam Cloud integration

Hello fellow dealers,

just a quick community update on the future of the game.

Cloud:
First off, I added steam cloud saving again. Now steam should backup your saves. Last time there were problems with people losing their saves because of steam cloud. I hope that it's fixed and working properly now.

You can disable steam cloud in the properties menu, if you wish to do so.

Future Updates:
I have said it on discord and on steam here and there a few times, but never trough an update. Currently I am remaking the game from scratch (2nd-3rd time?). I have very good progress already and hope to release the new version soon.

It will be an entirely different game on terms of progression, art, functions.
I added many requested quality of life features to it as well. For example, holding the mouse down on an upgrade to auto-buy upgrades as much as you can instead of clicking. That should be easier on your wrists.
Bigger text. Faster lootcrate openings, offline progression and so on.

Right now you have 8 regions with 8 dealers inside for each drug. I have removed that.
It was not very fun for new players that had no upgrades and items to wait 2 minutes for dealers to sell a few grams of drugs. Made progression very tedious and boring.
It also did not make sense to buy drugs. People had more drugs than they could sell. Many variables and timers just for a +1/-1 that is not needed and bloats the game.

Instead you now have "operations". You upgrade your weed dealing operation to get +$1 per second for example. Then there is buildings, crime, research, chemical production, player focus, exp, and so on.
More variety. But function and gameplay wise it's very similar to other idle games.

The main reason for the remake is how the game was made. The code.
I have managed to reduce 10.000 lines of code to 100 for example.

This is good, because I am building the game right now in a way that will allow me to:
1) Push out new content way faster with clean code.
2) Add translations.
3) Publish to mobile.

DLC:
The two DLCs will be added to the game as well of course. Soon they will go on sale for 10%. It's not much but I will never make them cheaper than that. I don't want to de-value my own product.
I would advise you to wait for the new version first, before buying.
All sales are of course a great support for me. Thank you! :)

Save:
New version, new code, new variables. A new savegame will be needed.
I will keep the current version. If you wish to continue your progress, you can do so. Your current save will not be affected. For the new version you will need a new one. Both are separate, so don't worry, you will not lose your save.
It's basically a different game by now, there is no way to keep the current save.

Thanks for reading and your understatement.
Can't wait to get the new update out. :)

If you have any questions, feel free to comment here, on discord, or message me per email.

Update 1.8 - New Save/Load System

New: Save System
I redid the entire save and load system from scratch. The old one was problematic to say the least.

I noticed that the drug numbers weren't saving properly. Sometime you had 0.007, closed the game and you had 0.0010 or sometimes 0 on load. This is of course not acceptable.

The old system used base64 encoding. While converting numbers to letters and then back to numbers issues arised. My guess is that many had lost their savegames because of that too.
Steamcloud was also not working with that and I had to remove it.

All for what? To make it harder on people to cheat.
It's a single player offline game. Who gives a cr...?
It's not like it was hard to anyway.

Now don't worry. I tested everything and the new system works fine with the old savefile system.

You start the game -> it reads the old 333.sav -> deletes it and replaces it with the new 334.sav.
You will not lose your progress! ... I hope at least.

Touching the saving is always risky. If you happen to lose your save, then sorry. Please tell me and I will make sure to restore your progress manually.
I hope everyone made a backup as well for this case.
but it should be fine...

Also, I can finally integrate SteamCloud again. So even if something happens to your pc or you switch pcs you can have your progress. I will add it tomorrow, to see if everything works properly.

Fixed:
- Item Peace was not working properly and adding the $3 increased price to lsd sell price.
- Enemy tooltips not displaying the correct amount of enemies.

Changed:
Nerfed the enemies that can spawn. It's still mostly 1-5, but now it's way less likely that you get 5.
Every region has different spawn rates and rewards after win.

Stay tuned for more updates and stuff.

Update 1.7 - small fix

Fixed a small issue with the employees at stacey's, that made the game crash.

Sorry for that! If you find any other bugs please let me know.
