Du Lac and Fey and The Steam Awards...
Can you even believe this year is drawing to an end? We don't want to bang on about it but... you *shook* us, 2020. And not always in a good way.
That said, there have been some amazing achievements seen across the games industry - and often close to home - despite the perpetually moving goal posts. Whilst Salix has been a WFH studio for a while, many of our fellow studios have pivoted to working from home and discovered that developers can still creatively collaborate, that team meetings can be done 'round the campfire in a favourite RPG, and - most importantly - video games have continued to be made and released *and* still loved by fans.
We saw Guildford enjoy the world stage for the second annual Guildford Games Festival and we *finally* got a comprehensive directory for all the amazing GU postcode studios (and their mindblowing back catalogues) thanks to guildford.games. Our Director Jessica featured on a women in games panel, also for the festival, that made us fit to burst with pride and inspiration.
We laughed, we cried, we celebrated so it most certainly wasn't *all* bad.
The very most important thing Team Salix did this year was - of course - release the Director's Cut of Dance of Death, and we didn't *just* release it - we gave it to everyone who already owned Dance of Death, because we knew we could improve on the first release. The Director's Cut not only brought bug fixes but also new content for players to pore over in our vast branching narrative game. Dance of Death is so precious to Salix Games - every line of dialogue, every fancy pants Victorian gent and tenacious lady of the night and every single cobblestone feels like home to us. The Director's Cut was worked on and completed by a core team of 3 people, 3 people who fully believed they could an even better game to their passionate community, a community who gave them so much support the first time around.

Whilst we're not often keen to shout about what we've achieved - Dance of Death: Du Lac and Fey Director's Cut was a true labour of love for this team, so if you've played it and enjoyed it (or giggled at a social media gif of a dog drawing a dick, we've all been there) we would be pleased as punch if you would consider nominating us for the Labour of Love category in the Steam Awards.
Much love from all of us at Salix Games!

We could not be more pleased to bring you the Directors Cut and we have no doubt that this update will leave you in a state of gigglemug, and should successful clear any case of the morbs you may be suffering (you can look those ones up).

With love from all at Salix Games (and here's a message from Jessica to accompany the release)
*It's just a really old way of saying excited. We're excited. We may hop about it.

In addition to fixing a bug in Chapter 3 that could leave players without a controllable character, this update includes visual improvements in Chapter 6. The achievement where Mary has a poor relationship with Fey will now also unlock when her relationship with Du Lac is strong.
