First Teaser

Woohoo, first Teaser for “Dude, Stop” is out!
-> WATCH IT HERE <-

THE VOICE IS BACK

As you can see (hear?), we brought back the same guy that was in the trailer! And he is as angry and as funny as before!! Right now we are in the middle of recording the script and it goes amazingly fast. We have already did a few sessions and there’s only a couple more until the end. Then on to implementing all of it into the game.

EARLY 2018

Yep, the teaser actually has “Early 2018” in the end, and somewhere within that range is a date we are aiming at. Voice implementation is the second-to-last step right now and it is going ahead really good. So... if nothing changes and a freaking meteorite does not land into our servers, we should not miss the date this time :D

IS IT A GAMEPLAY VIDEO?

In case someone gets scared that the teaser doesn’t look like a game - you are right, it does not. It’s not a gameplay video. “Dude, Stop” has the same visuals, art, mood and voice, but with actual puzzles and stuff to click. This video is just to showcase the voice in a funny, Dude-Stop-ish way :)

CONCLUSION

We are going back to recording the rest of the script! Cya at the end of the year with another more detailed “Current Progress” blog!

Oh, and if we don’t see you - have a happy holiday and stay safe!

Hey, pst, don’t forget to go here: Facebook, Twitter and: http://patomkin.com/

Current progress (November)

We signed a contract with the voice actor!! Yeap, that’s right, we now officially have an actual voice actor with an actual voice, who actually placed his signature (and blood) (jk, no blood) on a piece of paper and now we own him!!... Well, at least for this project.

VOICE REVEAL

Remember the trailer? Well, the game’s going to sound exactly like that, since it’s the same guy! He was passionately waiting for this moment and now the time has come! And, which is way cooler, we are going to start recording ON MONDAY! This Monday!... How fast is that?! (shush about the two years of waiting!)

TEASER IS COMING

We don’t want to be the only ones who’s enjoying all the glory and anger of the voice in the game, so we decided to make a small teaser for you all!... It’s coming a little bit later, since we need to come up with jokes, edit the video, and collect all the bravery we have to publish it.

MORE IS COMING...

That’s all for now!... Not much news, we know, but don’t be disappointed yet - we are going to do another post soon enough, with a teaser, more gifs and more news about the progress. THEN you can be disappointed. Psych! It’s gonna be awesome!!!!!

As always - click, share, like and subscribe. Mmm, yes.

Current progress (October)

We played the game! (that’s the theme of this blog post)

Hello! We are back, as usual, with another monthly report. This time there aren’t a lot of news and things to announce, but we need to keep the tradition, so let’s talk about the most exciting one for now:

WE DID PLAYTHROUGHS

We invited few testers and set them down to play “Dude, Stop” from start to finish while we watched! And it was... fun! First of all - they all finished the game! Nothing crashed, there were no game-breaking bugs, all puzzles were clear to understand and solvable, and we even heard some laughs and giggles! One comment was even “I want to play it again”! Can you imagine this?! “Again!” This is just... oh. So cool!

WE GATHERED FEEDBACK

6 PAGES OF IT, to be exact! It was great overall, but still not all positive and shiny - there were many bugs and problems! Mostly in the same vein, like, “move that” and “change color here”, which isn’t hard to fix, but still quite time-consuming. But hey, last time it was 10 pages of game breaking bugs, so I’ll call it a success after all!

WE WROTE A BLOG POST

This, and more in our latest blog post! Please, click the link below to read it and peek at NEW GIFS AND SCREENSHOTS! We will appreciate it!

CONCLUSION

Still, we need to inform you that testing was done without the new voice. We do have subtitles and we did test all the lines, and now we have 50+ places in the script that sound weird, so we need to fix those before we move on to the last major development step. But that’s gonna be our next post! See ya then!

Aaaand how could we end this without our social media links:

Current progress (September)

We have 100 puzzles ready! Yes! It’s so cool! You can start the game and play any puzzle you want. First puzzle, for example. Or second. Maybe third, if you feel like it. Ooh, you’ll like the fourth! And the fifth!.. OK-ok, let’s calm down and start from the top. *breath in, breath out*

Welcome, reader of Current Progress!

Today’s monthly progress report will be more about numbers, since most of the stuff is finally coded in and won’t change much (only improves). So let’s get to numbers.

WHAT WE HAVE:

  • 13 packs
  • 100 puzzles
  • 65 trophies
  • 900+ voiced events
  • 1500+ subtitle lines
  • 450+ unique text endings for puzzles
  • 400+ sound effects
  • And 3 new gifs to share!

You can find a more detailed explanation regarding those numbers in our latest blog post: http://patomkin.com/s/100-puzzles Also, 2 more gifs and 4 screenshots!

WHAT'S LEFT:

Voiceover is still a big task for us, but at least now the script is ready and there is technology to implement it easily. Other, smaller, tasks are: sounds, music, Steam achievements and couple improvements here and there...

But the most time-consuming task for us will be to playtest the game. After all, we want the game get mad at you for breaking stuff and not other way around! And that’s why game won’t come out in the next month. And not even in the month after that. We hope you’ll still be with us then! :)

While we work on the last features in the game, please click all 3 links for no apparent reason:

Current progress (August)

Hello, patient gamers!
Let us tell you one really exciting thing that we’ve been moving towards for a long-long time:

THE SCRIPT IS READY!

What we’re saying is... the script for the game is finally finished! We have all the text, voice interruptions, jokes and curses, disappointments and the D.U.C.K.’s “helping” lines! All in all about 120 pages! Say whaaaaat? Exactly!

(don’t ask what the D.U.C.K. is)

ANOTHER BLOG POST!

Link: patomkin.com/s/script-ready
To celebrate this, we wrote another blog post (as some of you requested), where you can find a few more screenshots of new packs and one gif:

BACK TO WORK!

Ooh, how we were celebrating! I went outside, and our programmer had a donut, and then we drank some delicious rainwater, and it was awesome! Yeah, that sounds hardcore, but we didn’t party too hard, because the game isn’t finished yet! So we’re back to work, implementing all the new things we thought of in the script. After that is done, it’ll be time for.. (drumroll) real Voice Actor Recording (dun-dun-dunnn). Yeah, we mentioned it last time, and the time before that, but... oh well.

Current progress (July)

Hello, guys and gals!
Let us bring you up to speed with what we’ve been up to for the last 6 month.

WHAT WE HAVE:

  • “Dude, Stop” now has a story! Meaning, that it’s not just an “angry voice that shouts at you”, but an “angry voice that shouts at you FOR A REASON”! There are plot twists and side characters; there are secrets and enemies; there is a literal (no, not literal) emotional rollercoaster… Basically, we tried to squeeze out of the voice as much as we could.

  • Script is 91.3% ready! This includes voice lines for the puzzles, implementation of said lines in the game, subtitles, award descriptions and a lot of flavor text here and there to improve puzzles and overall experience!

  • Save slots! We know you love ‘em, we know you need ‘em and now WE GOT ‘EM. Basically to allow multiple playthroughs and to keep your little brother from messing things up.

  • Reworked UI and other Graphics! We have remade the options menu to make your life a little bit easier (at least inside the game); there are new graphics for the Main Menu and many-many new backgrounds.

  • Fixed a bunch of bugs and made lots of small improvements like new animations, graphics for puzzles, juicy particles and etc.

WHAT IS LEFT TO DO:

  • Finish the script, which shouldn’t take much time (haha, very funny)
  • Hire an actual Voice Actor to voice over over our voice over
  • Finish implementing music, sounds and voice lines, which is, again, 95% ready
  • Playtest, polish, and make a nice trailer!

A CONFESSION:

Now you see that we’re not hundred-percent-ready for the release yet, even if we promised it would be out in the First Half of the 2017. We underestimated how much voice we would need in the game, and in how many ways we can improve the gameplay with interruptions and reactions.

For these reasons, we have to delay the release of “Dude, Stop” for another several months. We are sorry for this added wait time, and we appreciate that you are still waiting for the game to come out! We’re anxious to see you playing our game and laughing and giggling and telling your friends on the whole internet about how cool the voiced version of "Dude, Stop" can be!

Welcome! + FAQ inside

Hello, everyone!

As you can see, “Dude, Stop” now has a Steam Page! Hit that “Follow” button to not miss any news and add the game to your wishlist if you so desire. You can also head to the discussions section to leave us a note or just add a comment below.

DEMO

The old demo is still available for you to play, and can be found here: Gamejolt
(Please note that the demo is really old and is no longer representable of the game to be released: the visuals have been long since updated and some game mechanics changed).

FAQ

We prepared this FAQ to answer many of the questions from new or old players. If you have more questions – just post below and we will answer and might add them to the list.

Q. When the game will be ready?
A. The game is still under development. We are currently working on the Audio and Voice. The Content (i.e. puzzles) is completely playable and is being thoroughly tested by friends and family. If all goes well, we are going to release the game in the First Half of 2017.

Q. How much will the game cost?
A. We are still in the process of deciding on the price and cannot announce it yet.

Q. Why screenshots show only the old puzzles and nothing new?
A. The number of puzzles we currently have is ways above the demo. Showing the screenshots could spoil the fun and ruin the experience. We promise to show more content prior to release. Some in the form of a new trailer.

Q. There are no trading cards in the list of features! Why?
A. Preparing Trading Cards takes time, that’s why we skipped them (for now) so we could bring you the Store Page as soon as possible. They will be added a little bit later. We already have some awesome ideas, and we hope you will really enjoy collecting them.

Q. Four languages? Is that it? I want you to translate it to the best language in the world – my language!
A. Translating to other languages is a lot of work, so we prioritized languages based on received feedback. That gives us English (duh!), Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian and French. Those will be the available languages for subtitles and UI. The voiceover is currently only available in English. We plan to expand available languages after the release if there is demand.

Q. How can I follow development progress?
A. You can head to our Facebook page or Twitter, as well as read indieDB blog, or our own website: patomkin.com
