Fix a critical item level bug for EU players (1.1.2000)

  • Fix a critical bug currently affecting only players who is on EU locale which will generate items with broken levels.

For technical note, this was from difference between data passing around in the game, also including data that was passing around between network when playing in MP.

There was an oversight to internal number formatting and for example the value 0.25 (quarter) will be printed into "0,25" in EU locale, passing around in the system and network, and then the non-EU client will read it back as "zero comma twenty five" and understand it as 25! (I don't know who design this programming behavior, but it is crazy) and the same is also happen in reverse.

For this update, the game will also try to "FIX" and restore the original number, like 25 back to 0.25. But for the V lines (which in screenshot originally it should be just the LV.1 line) are internally indistinguishable with the real V lines so it had to stay that way, so a little start bonus, I guess.

Wait, why Discord server took so long?



Initially I saw player base are just playing in their friend group and there was very limited number of player who want to open or join the public room, so it was my own assumption that there were no need, plus the game did not reached that significant scale anyway.

The second reason, of my own little silly excuse, that I'm not much of a discord person myself and I almost never join any discord of any game I purchased, so I hold the discord idea up until now, where several players came up personally to me and asking for discord, I thought to myself, well I could try. I don't think I will be much capable in answering to all messages but please be easy on me :)

What is current development state/plan of the game?



OK back to the game itself, the game will be expected to get updates at pace around twice a year.
But currently, as I wrote in the last update, I'm currently pushing another smaller side project until around October, but as usual I'm still always open for bug fix, or do you want to help cook some idea, also the bug report should be easier now with the discord so please definitely hop there.

Rework on Adventurer class (1.1.1997)

  • Change design on Deleter timeout to spawn group of shadow enemies instead
  • Fix a bug when clicking browse icon in blacksmith menu will popup a dialog that could not get rid of
  • Fix a bug when defining custom keyboard control with arrow keys will conflict with camera control

Adventurer


TL;DR: The class got its 3 skills reworked and is now center its play on counter attacks.

COOL Sweep, previously it could stun you if spin too much, now it will never, instead it will spin longer, shoots shockwaves but have longer cooldown.
COOL Dash, the hitbox is larger and also now stuns enemies.


COOL Stance, is the new skill to replace old COOL Speech. The character will enter auto-guard state for a duration and you can brawl with group of enemies with ease.

Parry counter-attack
Currently exclusive only to Adventurer, he can do TG counter attack!
It will emit different effect clue when you done it.

Normal counter attack does 1.3x damage, but TG counter attack will start at whopping 1.7x damage! (upgradable by passive skill)
In addition, all 3 main skills' cooldown faster if Adventurer do a counter attack hit.

Adventurer was one of the very first class came with the game from its early development, now aged 3 years old, first it was designed to be a little bit tricky to use, like a spin attack that can stun yourself if you spin too much, or the revive skill that you trade your own HP for using it. Thinking back, I wonder what I got on my mind back then when designing those weird skills (laugh), It confuses many players who are trying this game for the first time, the damage was done, I hope this update will make it better and have smoother experience for this class.

Deleter


TL;DR: Instead of a one-hit-kill reaper, now it summons shadow enemies to hunt you down instead.

You still got high chance in finishing the stage if you are very close to clear the map and can navigate to survive their attack, my best advice is to not try to banter with them.

The content update for Dungeon Looter will be paused for a while, as I'm also working on another small game demo which I'm trying to be in time for Steam Next Fest October, if I'm can cook it fast enough. I will keep fixing the bug or major balance issue if any of these issues arise.

Model and voice pack added (1.0.1973)

Aoi and Friends this model pack was made popular by certain bizarre love simulator game which took 10+ years and still not even finished. So she decided to give this dimension a visit for a change along with her crush senpai and her (rival?) friend. They are unlocked on Looter License LV 3

Chinese voice pack is also added to the voice pack list, it is unlocked and available from start.

Reel sound effects is a collection of sound effects from popular short video those will damage your daily brain cell (and your friend's). It is unlocked on Looter License LV 7

New profile - unlock list bug



This bug happens when you create a second profile from the title screen, the unlock list from previous profile will also transferred to the new profile (wrong) making new profile cannot progress the unlock those are already done.
If you did not created any second profile yet, you are safe from this issue and nothing to worry about.
If you struck with this bug, your new profile's unlock data is probably in broken state, you can either:

A: Delete and recreate your second profile, unlock data should now be blank as expected. But data will be wiped.
B: If you really want to keep your data while fixing the broken unlock data. The save file needed to be hand edited, contact me via discord (username "wappen").

The next update will be focus on rebalancing, especially some rework on "Adventurer" class which has been serving as an introduction class for everybody who is trying the game for the first time, it is the first time experience which decide one will give up or continue playing the game, I look to make this beginner class more friendly and fun to play.

Fix final boss maze switch on warp (1.0.1962)

Now you can exit! Even if the RNG tries to be cruel to you.

This could happen in very high difficulty setting as more switches will spawn. It has very small chance to pick the "fallback" spawn location when the code failed to find the ground, thus it spawn in the center of the room, which specific room like in the screenshot has hollow in the center, making switch unreachable and make the game impossible.



The new version will stop using "center of the room" as fallback position and try to place it in the starting room instead.

End-game rebalance (1.0.1958)

  • Hard mode last boss will guarantee to drop 2 pro repair kit instead of randomized between 1-2 pcs

Item quality in higher difficulty


In the previous version, the item scaling on very high difficulty like HARD+20 was not appealing making it pointless to play.
In this update, mainly the item in LP shop and drop from last boss will see a significant bump in quality.
The item dropped from normal monster and boxes will only see small ramp in quality.

As a result, price will also be more expensive from this adjustment.

Bug fixes (1.0.1955)

A regular bug fix


  • Make all characters movement come into stop faster (reduce sliding). This will primarily reduce slippery feeling when controlling player.
  • Remove the "Early Access" notice popup in the title screen which I somehow totally forgot. (oops)
  • Fix a glitch when chaining an attack and then spamming skill button will result in skill target at feet position instead of mouse position. (Keyboard-mouse control)
  • Reduce "cursed" item DEF down effect (which makes you take more damage) from -30% - -60% to -20% - -40% range.
  • Give +30% more exp to bots so they can LV up faster and should be a little bit stronger on the later part of the game.
  • Fix order of damage number popping up, newest number should be drawn on the front.

Bug fixes and community suggestion (1.0.1950)

A hot fix for 1.0. These are community suggestion I gathered from forum and reviews.




  • One review suggest that AI bots should be able to auto revive, so bots can now auto revive itself in ~40 seconds, or you can help pull them up just like before. Game will still over if all players and bots are incapacitated.
  • Gamepad R-Stick can be used to control turning and aiming. Before it was tied to camera control which is not really useful feature.
  • Numerous reviews point out that game movement is sluggish, so I increase all player's acceleration (max speed stay the same) from 5 -> 8 (+60%) and player turning speed from 3 -> 4 (+25%) that should address some sluggish feeling.
  • Adjust core boss "Timer Haste" cast time from 40s to 60s to allow more leeway for players.
  • Fix error when Adventurer use "COOL SPEECH" to revive bots.
  • Fix localization text did not displayed correctly in key rebind dialog.

Update 0.16 BOT BOT BOTs

New Stuffs





Career mode will have an option to add basic bots!


- Bots will follow you and help you do basic task in the dungeon such as attacking enemies, smash boxes, revive you and their teammate (YES they can!).
- With limitation that they will use only sword as their weapon for now, no classes, no skills, won't pickup item (no stealing yep that's good thing)
- Bots will not count toward waiting player while starting an event, nor does not incur penalty if left dead when you going to the next floor.
- Bots are very energetic to do their job! (as seen in the screenshot) but please babysit and carry them to victory when fighting bosses.

At last, a forever alone player like me can now have fun :) jk jk


To add those little helpers, go to difficulty setting screen in the town lobby.
- The maximum bot you can add now is 8, every bot added will also add room difficulty by +0.3

Added new damage number popup style


As seen in the first screenshot and it will be set as default option for everyone. If you want to change this, look in the option menu.



Here is the schedule for the next few months:
- Dungeon Looter go on sale in the Spring Sale (-40%) on March 15
- After sale ended, base price will be adjust to $11.99 to prepare for full release, it will transition to full release some time after that.

So in summary, Spring Sale will have the best price before it goes up.
For the future update plan, I will write about them in the full release news post.
