Devlog - Light and Shadow Update

Summer is over, now everyone is back from Holidays. I was working on Dungeon Run relentlessly. I had a long list of things to add to the next release and I want to keep you in the loop. So, I will keep updating you about my progress with regular devlogs.

Light and Shadow Update


One group of them added dynamic lighting, full day light cycle, with lights and shadow, pitch dark dungeons and post processing to create a much better atmosphere for the run. I also implemented an awesome AI pathfinding for the flying mobs like the wasps. they will respect the terrain and hunt you down mercilessly. I have doubled the variation of the randomly generated tile sets which creates more interesting terrain. I have added one new dungeon area and 3 new monsters. A lot of bug fixes and performance enchantments. Many many Achievements are also included.

Story and Bosses Update


The other group of things I'm working on are the four new player characters which I'd shown you before and a witty story with fully voiced cutscenes and many more bosses to defeat. New monsters and new buildings and backgrounds.

Status


I was originally planning to release both of the above updates as one giant update, but I am getting close to finishing the Light and Shadow update. While the Story and Boss Update needs more time. I don't see why I would not release the Light and Shadow Update earlier. So you can expect it as soon as it ready.

Player Character Arts

I was working on new design for the player characters. Yes that is correct characters, plural.
You already able to change the character's cloths colour. Specially useful when you play multiplayer. However I plan is control a team rather than only one character. These characters will have different look and abilities. The player will able freely switch between them while playing. Same way as we can change the cloth colour now.

While never stop running! ;)

First and foremost here is a redesign of the original character.

Wow nice! Will they be in the the next release?

This point I only can say: They will get into the game when they are ready! :)

Developer Gameplay Just Before Release.

I will play single player mode and discus the origin of the game and interesting facts.
I will also talk a little bit about the future plans.

Game Release on the 23rd of May!

Great news! The game is prepared and Ready for the Monday release! I did a big push last week and I managed to add in all the bits I planed for the release, which is a wonder in itself. ;) as I always has grandiose planes. :D Game has all the core functionality in place and I try to achieve nice gameplay "flow" in each releases. I ran into a performance issue related to fireballs in the beginning of the week, but luckily I managed to hunt it down quick.

Check out a sneak peak of the first Alpha 1 version which was only available as closed test.
As we getting close to the release date I would like to show you the earliest test version of the game which we sent to only a small selected group of people for testing and feedback. I got some great feedback from the testers, which I would like to thank here! Many exciting ideas and recommendations will be in in the upcoming improved Alpha 2 release! Through the next week I will post more about the upcoming public release, It is so close! So stay tuned! In the mean time I thought I will share the Gameplay of the Early Test version.
