DYSTORIA Beta Testing - Major Update
Thank you to all of you who have been beta testing Dystoria!
Today we have released a major update that brings Dystoria from 10 Levels to 29 Levels, adds new music, weapons, ships, story revamp and a huge pile of bug fixes based on the feedback that we have had so far.
There are also some performance enhancements that will give people with lower spec computers a significant increase in frame rate and overall smoothness of gameplay.
***Please Note***
If you have previously been playing Dystoria, this update will break your save file which will cause issues throughout the entire game. To fix this, please start a new game after you get this update.
As always, if there's any bugs that you spot, please let us know on our Forum and we will post fixes ASAP.
Known issues we are currently addressing:
Incorrect music plays in some sectors
Missing Weapon "Regenerator"
Weapon Loadout Menu Secondary Weapon sometimes disappears from Loadout
Occasionally Ship Speed, Handling and Camera Settings fail to initialize at the beginning of the level. (Pause and Unpause works as a temp fix)
New Updates
We are working hard every day to update and we are listening carefully to each and every suggestion that we hear. Thank you to those of you who have helped us out so much with testing the alpha version!
What's New
- 2 new levels (we added 2 introductory levels at the beginning of the game to help learn the movement mechanics before you start getting shot at)
- 3 new ships. The cost and specs of each ship will definitely be changing over the course of beta testing
- The story now progresses via pop up computer screen at the completion of each sector
- Save points - some levels now have a midway save point. More will be added as play-testing identifies trouble spots.
- Orbs now only need to be collected once. If you die and restart, you keep the orbs you've collected until you exit the level or return to the substation.
- Camera distance and smoothing controls in the pause menu
- Keyboard/Mouse/Gamepad layout updated in menu.
Bug Fixes:
- All ship and camera movement is no longer tied to the frame rate of the game. It should make the controls a lot smoother and consistent across different machines. This should also fix issues where the ship becomes decoupled too easily.
- Switching between mouse controls and game pad controls is now more intelligently managed. This needs testing. Please let us know if you encounter any menus where gamepad support fails.
- Default Camera position is now low. The camera button toggles between low and high.
Known issues:
Camera button incorrectly mapped on xbox controller
Camera snaps to wrong position when ship is decoupled
Freeze on loading screen issue solved
Along with fixing the loading issue we've made some minor improvements. The pause menu is now updated with a few more settings screens, and the same settings menu is now used in the Substation as well.
Gamepad control map is now shown in the menu, however we are still figuring out how to map all the gamepads the same way, so bear with us as we make those changes. Some buttons may not be mapped exactly how the picture shows just yet.
Supported controllers include Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Logitech F-310, and of course keyboard and mouse.
Added intelligent control sensing when switching from keyboard and mouse to gamepad (no more mouse cursor on the screen when using gamepad)
Fixed Vertical look speed issue in Substation.
Fixed look sensitivity not working in Substation.
Known Issue : Getting stuck on loading screen
On new installations of Dystoria a lot of people are experiencing hangups at the loading screen right after the start menu.
We are tracking it down and seems to be caused by a problem with creating the initial save file. We should have a fix for it soon so we'll keep you posted here.
