BACK UP YOUR SAVE GAME TODAY ! - UPDATE NOW COMING 8TH Aug
Hi everyone,
Well the planned update for yesterday did not go well ! (I have explained my failings in detail on the discussion board thread 'Bug Reports and Tech Issues - Beware of Update' thanks to Shaa99 for reporting issues super quick and advice on how to locate save file quickly + potential workaround)
You will see that we had to revert the update AND that the update seems to wipe out existing Save games (!). Whilst we have fixed the errors that prevented the update working it looks like for now that any update WILL delete players existing Save games (it appears to be a common issue with some Steam Games)
Our sincere apologies for that mess up!, If it helps I am severely hating on myself for making such a hash of things (some issues were with Steam BUT more than 50% were my plain old ineptitude :( )
So...MAKE A COPY OF YOUR SAVE GAME TODAY
The file is 'eCabinSaveGame' and the default location is 'C:ProgramFiles(86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/e-RiverCabinJournal
To get to your saved game file quickly you can right click on the game title, select properties (bottom choice) than use the local files tab. The first choice then is to "browse local files". This Brings up the game folder.
WE WILL RELEASE THE UPDATE 6PM BST 8/8/16
IMPORTANT - New update tomorrow - you may want to make a copy of your Save Game?
Hi everyone,
We will release the first update Saturday 6th Aug around 6pm BST.
You may just want to make a copy of your Save game and keep it safe in case the update causes any issues (we don't believe it will and have tested as far as we are able but you may want to take precautions 'just in case')
The file is 'eCabinSaveGame' and the default location is 'C:ProgramFiles(86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/e-RiverCabinJournal
Details of the fixes and updates as per our earlier post :BearPaw:
Updates & Fixes
Some details of our first update, thanks to everyone for their patience and help with balancing out trying to replicate the trials and tribulations of surviving in the Alaskan wilderness!
Update 'should; be out this weekend assuming we encounter no issues (We are being extra careful to protect peoples experience and efforts to date and not wreck things with the update!) :BearPaw:
SOS
Hover Help & other game updates...
Just a quick video to show progress on things people wanted addressing (some things you can't see as they are background changes in the code - such as removing chance of multiple animal attacks in the same session)
But in this clip you can see -
1. Further Icon/Button help and new 'Icon Help Button' to toggle on and off
2. Roof now stays off or on as you left it no matter where you navigate to/from
3. Roof can now also be taken off with Right Click
4. Animation applied to show smoke from Fireplace Chimney (and fire glow made more realistic)
5. Animation applied to Stove pipe on Cabin roof (Previously always present static smoke - now only present whilst stove running and now animated)
Will be completing Icon help for other buttons and adding Icon help to other screens
We will need to finish other changes and test before looking to release an update :CabinInTheWoods:
Hi everyone, firstly can we say THANKS, the feedback which has been fantastic and the comments in the reviews has been really helpful for us (Yes even the negative ones...in fact ESPECIALLY the negative ones. almost everyone has been pretty fair and reasonable with their opinions and suggestions. Criticism is how we will listen and improve. We know we will never please everyone but that's life...)
IF people accept the whole 'waiting thing' (even with speed ups) and if they are gracious enough to accommodate our limited coding experience then almost everyone seems to like the game premise. But there are barriers for some...
What we are hearing so far is -
1) We struggle with the interface - we don't know what the buttons do...
OK, I was surprised at how much an issue this is for some, I suspect we were too familiar with the layout, also this is a new game style and we had nothing to go on. Either way we hear what people are saying and think we can address it (still limitations in how we meet the need but we are trying some things out - see video below. Not 100% but is this what people are after?)
Partly linked to high resolutions used by some but certainly not helped by the limited way we had to produce the game. No quick fix promised on this one, we tried a full screen test/image this evening and whilst it looks fine it produces memory issues so this will take more time. But again we will investigate further.
See image below BUT don't get too excited on this one as it will be a coding challenge that will take a while...
3) I keep getting attacked by "Moose", "Bear"..."Insert vicious animal of your choice here"...
Looks to be down to just bad luck BUT we have an idea to balance better in that we will introduce a feature to look out for multiple attacks and influence the random code to make it less and less likely if you keep getting attacked in any one session.
NB. A future build on the stocks will add a 'Fence' to your cabin, once built this will let you chop wood and fell trees in relative safety (when you undertake the activity you will be able to choose to do it inside or outside your fence boundary). Of course you will need to fix breaches in the fence and as you fell trees within the fenced area they will become more and more scarce over time...
You will even be able to hook it up to the cabin battery and electrify it !
Let us know what you think of this idea
Some great ideas coming our way from players (such as the ability to demolish your cabin and re-locate for the winter/summer...). Keep em coming and thanks for both your support and encouragement.
