Teamwork is necessary for a great co-op game, and the best way to build teamwork is via voice chat! Today we are happy to release an update that turns on the built-in voice chat for Earthfall.
Take on the invasion and talk strategy with your friends or make some new ones in a Quick Match game. We want all players to have fun playing Earthfall and we are very excited to enable this highly requested feature.
With launch just a couple days away on July 13th, we still want to hear your feedback and always wanting to hear what you want from Earthfall now and as we start working on post-release content! Deluxe Edition, Hazmat Pack & Post-Release Plans
We have been teasing it for a bit now, we have heard from our Early Access supporters, and today we are ready to announce that the Deluxe Edition and the Hazmat Pack for Earthfall are both coming to Steam!
For those new to Earthfall, the Deluxe Edition is the perfect way to get all the launch content in one purchase. It includes Earthfall and the Hazmat Pack for $39.99.
For those that already bought Earthfall in Early Access but also want the Hazmat Pack, you can purchase it separately for $9.99. Inspired by biohazard protocols seen in your favorite movies and TV shows, the Hazmat Pack gives you hazmat outfits for all characters with four colors to pick from allowing you to keep the alien blood off your nice clothes. Additionally, for those wanting some weapon flare, 12 weapon skins are included in the Hazmat Pack. The Hazmat Pack will retail for $9.99 and is also included in the Deluxe Edition. So either way, you get everything!
About Post-Launch Content
As the launch date for Earthfall gets closer and closer, we want everyone to know that we plan on supporting Earthfall with more content after we launch. We know from other games that selling new game content such as levels can really fragment the multiplayer base and make it harder to play with your friends. We think that’s lame so we’re happy to announce that all gameplay related content will be FREE. That means all future levels and all future modes will be free updates for everyone that purchases Earthfall, no matter which edition or platform you buy and play.
We also have heard from many players that they want the ability to change the look of their character and we are happy to announce that we will release paid outfit packs and free weapon skins. The Hazmat Pack is the first of the paid outfits with more coming. For those wanting a different look than the default outfit you’ve already seen on our characters in Early Access, we are adding for launch a new base outfit of jeans and t-shirts that will support various free skins later on.
It has been a long development cycle and we are excited to take the next step into post-launch content for Earthfall. We want you to know that July 13th is just the starting point of more levels, more modes, more outfits and more kicking alien butt!

So we have been quite the last couple weeks as we prepare for launch on July 13th. We have fixed tons of issues, improved performance and added voice chat. We hope to release an update before launch to get some extra eyes on these features, so look for an update very soon!

Earthfall Stress Test - Wednesday, May 30 at 4 PM PDT
We need your help! Starting at 4 PM PDT on Wednesday, May 30, please fire up Earthfall to help us stress test Earthfall. As we get closer to the release of Earthfall in July we need your help identifying any last issues and make sure that we have a smooth launch! This is the first planned Stress Test, with more coming in the next following weeks prior to the launch on July 13. Be prepared and join the Official Earthfall Discord this Wednesday, May 30 at 4 PM PDT to find other players to play Earthfall with during the stress test and talk to developers, but most of all have fun fighting the alien invasion for a couple of hours while we monitor.
Update! Perf Improvements, Mixer Updates, Audio Improvements, Weapons Improvements, And More
Happy Memorial Day Weekend Earthfall fans! Just in time for the 3-day holiday (at least here in the US) we are proud to deliver what is honestly a massive patch, with a ton of improvements, updates, and bug fixes leading up to our big release on July 13th!
Perf Improvements
We continue to work tirelessly on improving perf across the board, and this update is no exception. We have made significant optimizations to all core systems of the game. Art, FX, Audio and AI performance tuning, as well as some bug fixing, should have those folks struggling to keep a steady framerate seeing significant gains and noticeable improvements. We are not done, and we will keep at it, but players should feel the differences immediately!
Mixer Fixes/Update
We recently unveiled our Mixer integration as part of Mixer’s one-year anniversary. It’s chaotic to say the least, with viewers able to spawn enemies, weapons, and more using their mixer currency. This update fixes some issues with some of the buttons not working (the grenade and Valkyrie buttons now work!), as well as some under-the-hood improvements. Bosses now start on cool down, giving hapless players a shot to getting going before they get creamed. In addition to the initial cooldowns, we now also link the cooldowns on specials and bosses, so, sorry, no more 2 bosses and 4 specials all at the same time. This mode is not for the weak of heart, but incredibly fun to watch! Try at your own risk 😉.
Audio Improvements
We HEARD you! Along with the significant performance optimizations and bug fixes mentioned above, we also started focusing in on tuning each and every sound in the game! We did another massive pass at the weapons and we are sure you will be excited to hear the results. We also did a ton of work around alien sounds, so expect to get scared out of your mind when you hear all of their signature audio, and now you can figure out where they are coming from before they eat you! We also polished the overall mix of the game! Like how they do it in film, we went into the studio and made sure that explosions were massive, aliens were creepy, the music gets you all tense and tingly, all while still being able to hear the new delicious weapon sounds. Not an easy task to say the least. We salute you Michael Bay!
Weapons Improvements
Along with audio improvements for every single weapon, we have been hard at work tuning each weapon experience, including adding recoil to all the weapons which was a big community request. We made some significant changes to the Valkyrie as well, including making this a primary weapon, so you can hold it in place of your primary and still rock a Harbinger! You still can’t reload it, but it’s a devastating combo. It also received both FX and Audio improvements and it’s, well, badass. Give it a try! Speaking of devastating, the landmines were less than that, but that has all changed, as both the effect radius and overall damage have been buffed significantly. Many, many more minor tweaks were made as well, and we are still working on some big improvements for our next patch (still super-secret but awesome). Stay tuned!
Summary

Greetings fans! Earlier this week we announced Earthfall’s July 13, 2018 release date! As we near the completion of the shipping version of Earthfall we’ll be raising the price from $14.99 to the retail release price of $29.99 starting on June 8, 2018.

Release Date Announcement - July 13, 2018
We are excited to announce that Earthfall will be releasing on July 13, 2018, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam, with Gearbox Publishing distributing the game to physical retailers. After two years of hard work, we are near the finish line. Even with all that hard work, we couldn't have gotten here if it hadn't been for the tremendous support from our fans that supported us through Early Access and we can't wait for console owners to get their hands on it!
Earthfall will be available on July 13, 2018, for $29.99, with an exclusive Deluxe Edition also available for $39.99 which will include exclusive character hazmat outfits and weapon skins.
Our bags packed and we’re on our way to Boston for PAX East to show off Earthfall! It has been an exciting last couple months with our February and March updates and our new trailer announcing that Earthfall is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this Spring.
