EARTHLOCK is Now Available in 8 New Languages!

We're extremely happy to be bringing you EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic in 8 new languages. EARTHLOCK is now supported in:

EARTHLOCK: Festival of Magic Update v1.5

Hello everyone.

Here are some changes that came with the patch v1.5.

Changes



  • Added support for the following languages: Arabic, Italian, Spanish, German, French, Polish, Norwegian and Simplified Chinese. The game will start in your system language. The current language can be changed in the Options menu on the Title screen and in game.
  • Updated the battle interface with new graphics.
  • Upgraded a lot of our camera effects in order to increase performance.
  • GUI System overhaul to improve performance.
  • Credits text has been updated with a publisher section.
  • Publisher included as part of the splash screens.
  • Some particle effects has been optimized.
  • Many scenes has been optimized as well.
  • Engine has been upgraded again in order to fix some more issues.
  • Fix: Game was dark if playing in a non-native resolution at fullscreen.
  • Fix: Game would sometimes get stuck on a black screen after a scene transition.
  • Added shop interior to Suvia



Upcoming



  • Fix the game crashing alot for some players. We have implemented some fixes in order to combat this, but we will continue to work on it.

Change and Update List



  • Restructured entire intro sequence with Ive.
  • Repositioned dialog bubbles to prevent covering up face of speaker, and making sure that big dialog bubbles does not go off screen.
  • Combat introduction uses dialog in battle to explain battle mechanics instead of simply opening the Tutorial Menu.
  • Combat Bonus xp system based on party performance.
  • Some scenes have been optimized to run better.
  • Some particle effects have been optimized to run better.
  • World Introduction cutscene can be skipped.
  • English text has been proofread and improved.

Upcoming Changes



  • More scene optimization.
  • Dying during the tutorial will only start the combat over instead of showing the game over screen.

  • Support for more languages.
  • Improvements to our character controller in order to prevent it from falling through the world.

Earthlock is finally released!

Today we are really pleased to announce the release of Earthlock: Festival of Magic on Steam.

Almost five years in development, we have finally achieved our goal of making the game we always wanted to play ourselves. In fact, we still enjoy it, even after endless testing and play-throughs. Now it is your turn! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!

Keyboard and Game Controller

We have from the beginning of the UI design wanted to go away from the long menus so often found in games in this genre. We really wanted combat to feel as fast as possible even though it is turnbased.

We believe we have achieved this. With a few clicks the player should be able to select the desired action and execute it.

The cost of this design choice has been that mouse support during combat has been very hard to implement in a snappy way. As of now, we decided not to use mouse in combat by default. It is possible to remap all keys and mouse inputs though.

If you play the game and see a way you think the mouse would make the game experience better, please let us know on the discussions page.

Steam Launch postponed to September 27th

Bad news and good news



Bad first: Steam (PC/Mac) release has been pushed to September 27th.

The good news is that reception on the Xbox version has been totally overwhelming for our little team of developers. Mostly it has been very positive, as you can see from the early reviews link.

With the large number of players on Xbox we have also uncovered bugs we want to fix, both in the Xbox and Steam version. We simply do not have the capacity to do it all and do it well at the same time.

So we would rather take the heat for pushing the release now, rather than releasing a game on Steam we are not happy with.

Please bear with us, and if the response from the Xbox players is something to go by, all you Steam, PS4 and Nintendo gamers waiting for Earthlock: Festival of Magic have something to look forward to!
