Anniversary Update - live on the Beta Branch
Hello Giants!
The Anniversary Update has dropped on the Beta branch on Steam! It brings mouse support, upgraded graphics, two new enemies and a bunch of bug fixes! The game's store page has also been updated with a trailer and new screenshots to reflect the recent update which, will go live on the default branch, as soon as the community gives the greenlight!
It's been a great ride and I hope you all get to enjoy the update! As with the first release and subsequent updates report all the bugs you can find on the discussion forums or on our discord server. I'll do my best to fix them and provide the best experience I can offer you!
As some of you have noticed the game's store page has also been localized to the following languages: Spanish, Chinese - Simplified and Traditional, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese. This has been done in order to catch up to Steam's discoverability changes. More localizations will be added in the future as soon as manage to get ahold of them.
Check out the Beta, report all the bugs you can find and enjoy climbing the tower once more!

Anniversary Update - release imminent
Hello giants,
The anniversary update has been completed! Development saw a 1 week setback due to issues outside of my control but all of the features and bugs have been implemented or fixed! The game is in the final stages of release. This is where a new trailer is being made, the store page is being updated (and translated), the Ui is getting a bit more polish and cross-platform tests are being performed. Heck, I'm even throwing up a special linux page on the bearded giant website with binaries built on several distributions and debug info just to make sure things are running along smoothly for everybody.
I'm hoping to get a beta up on the steam repo's this weekend so for those of you eager to be on the Beta channel, keep an eye up for the update. The game's size is small and you might miss it. If you want access earlier, head on over to our discord server. I'm about to start passing pre-release builds to people so I can make sure all bugs or problems are ironed out (if any are left).

Preview of the new graphical overhaul for the Anniversary Update

I have just posted a new blog entry with a preview of the graphical overhaul and some more information! The game's anniversary also marks the passage of a huge milestone in terms of units moved. The update will arrive next month!
It is with great pleasure that I announce a new update for Ebony Spire: Heresy, the 1 Year Anniversary Update! It’s a content and feature update that will drop on Steam (and itch.io) before November 2018. It’s a collection of the most requested features and quality of life improvements that people have been asking for the entire time the game was live, with a few bonuses sprinkled here and there.
Main features and changes for this update:
Full mouse support for the game: This has been the most requested feature since day one. I heard you loud and clear. Movement, Menu, Actions and Interactions will be available to your pointer.
Auto-equip items in the inventory when a new game starts: Many players were confused about not being able to damage enemies on their first few runs because they had no idea how to access and use the inventory.
The second most requested change for the game was the ability to not start FACING THE WALLS in Infinite_Mode.
A way to select which items you want to pickup from the ground if more than one are available. Or see details about those items.
Improved dungeon textures: To quote a piece of feedback I received “main dungeon visuals are boring, while portals you visit are pretty cool”. No more, dungeons look better and will be more interesting.

I'm doing a new round of updates for the game: Enter beta 1.2.1
It's that time again! A new update is in works for the game and it just went live on the Beta branch. Starting with Beta 1.2.1 and up till the 1.3 release we're going to see the following improvements:
Rebinding keys
End game level balancing
Different ending scenarios based on the way you defeat the final boss
New items
The Summoner's class
Of course, just as with the last betas bugs will be squashed! As for the new class added to the game, Summoner, this brings the ability to summon creatures to do your bidding. You won't have much direct control over the summoned characters but you will be able to interact with them and request it gives you an item they were hording (if they want). Most of the time they will engage enemies and heal you when they deem it right. This feature is still being worked on and won't be available in beta 1.2.1 but will drop as soon as we get the keybinding feature right.
P.s. there's a small bonus for those with a Mac. If you switch to the Mac_Test branch you will be able to download and play the game on a Mac! It's on par with the 1.2 release and will be updates as soon as 1.3 drops!
The Infinite Heresy free content UPDATE RELEASED!
Ebony Spire released on November 2nd 2017 and it's already getting it's first MAJOR update just a few weeks later. The highlights of this update are procedurally generated levels!
If you enjoyed the classic levels get ready for a chance to replay them in a big way: Procedurally generated levels offer you a whole new experience and so many more new situations to find yourself in! You'll never know what's behind the next door! And don't worry, you can always the original levels (classic mode) via the options menu! And disable perma-death and the scanline overlay!
Besides procedurally generated levels, check out what changed in this update:
Procedural levels
Added Line of Sight algorithm to the AI instead of regular distance check formula. Running and hiding from an enemy is a viabile strategy now
Added Ring(s) of Marksmanship +1 and +3 (bonus to GunKnowledge)
Added wearable gauntlets
Overhauled stat presentation with modifiers for Affinities and Knowledge
Improved the user interface experience and navigation
More spellbooks and items
Improved map view to account for player orientation

Procedurally generated levels for Ebony Spire: Heresy are coming! Today we mark the start of the first beta release for the Infinite Heresy update! Head towards the discussion forums to learn how to enable the Beta!

November 2nd 2017, Ebony Spire: Heresy was released on Steam for Windows and Linux with a 29% launch discount! Today I want to welcome all the new players into the world of Ebony Spire and remind them that the discussion forums are the best place to give feedback, request support or follow up on further development!
